Tesla had many pigeons he fed and cared for, but one he was particularly fond of. He described it as being a beautiful female bird, pure white with light gray tips on its wings. One night the bird flew into Tesla's room at Hotel St. Regis, and he perceived that she was attempting to tell him she was dying. Tesla said a light came from her eyes more intense than he had ever produced by the most powerful lamps in his laboratory. The bird then died and Tesla said that at that same moment, something went out of his life and he knew his life's work was finished.

Nicola Tesla was a Yugoslavian scirntist/inventor who many people quite seriously believed was an extraterrestrial.
They say he was an eccentric genius, a psychic or mystic as he had an extremely sensitive inner-ear and was often in pain from the noise.
He claimed that he had visions and that each time he had one of these visions, the whole thing just popped into his mind like it was a screen or something. And his "mental pictures", as he called them, were complete right down to the smallest detail.
He invented all kinds of electrical devices. He drew blueprints for electric cars, spacecraft and planes that had not been thought of before.
Tesla is the one who discovered AC- or Alternating Current, not long after Edison discovered DC-direct current. Edison didn't like it much, I guess. Took out big ads in New York newspapers warning everybody that their houses might catch fire and burn down if they used Tesla's AC. Edison claimed it was unsafe and a dangerous hazard whether outdoors or in.
Tesla worked for Edison for a while, but there was a split between them.
George Westinghouse and J.P.Morgan backed Tesla's crazy ideas, and so Tesla built a laboratory for his experiments in Colorado Springs, California. He chose this area for its' atmospheric conditions.
Cripple Creek, Colorado, is almost 2 miles high and on some days there, the clouds hang so low that you can reach up and touch them-if you jump a little. The sky bursts open frequently in the mountains with violent electrical storms, maybe once a month or so, sometimes more in the summer. In winter they get thunder and lightning with snow. It can be eerie, apparantly. Tesla went up ther to conduct his experiments amongst these storms at 10 000 ft... and higher. Pikes Peak where they say he pulled off some of his light shows, after climbing up alone, is closer to 14 000 ft. He used to pull in lightning with the tower he built with J.P Morgans money, down in the springs. Then, after the storms, he would run out with helpers and screw light bulbs directly into the ground and they'd light up, just as if they'd been screwed into a lamp that was plugged into an electrical outlet. Isn't that wild! He said it had something to do with the Earths' magnetic field.
Tesla later proved his AC was safe and now that is all that they use in homes.
They say Tesla was upset when they split the atom. He said it would bring on nuclear power, which could end the world. He tried to convince J.P Morgan and his money backers that the world would run out of energy in the near future, and that nuclear energy would destroy it- but that his method was safe and pure. He said everyone would have all the power they would need without polluting the air, which he predicted in the early 1900's would be a big problem before the end of the century.
Tesla died in New York, after the government-or somebody-set fire to his laboratory and burned it to the ground, with all his papers and research notes. They say it broke his heart. He went back to New York after old J.P Morgan pulled back his financial backing, and they tore down his lightning tower, or whatever it was, in the Springs. It seems that Morgan got scared when he found out that one of Teslas' inventions was a thing where, if folks just had an antenna in their backyards, they could pull in all the electrical energy they ever needed for running their houses and farms- right out of the air, without costing them a penny. Guess Morgan thought that would be milking the cow for free, and by then, Edison and the government were getting together, all cosy, so nobody approved of Tesla's idea that figured how to give electricity for nothing.
Some say he died of injuries when he was struck by a car near the New Yorker Hotel where he was staying and that it wasn't an accident.
America has since suppressed Tesla's work. Kids in school don't hear about him. All the textbooks say that Edison discovered electricity... but we wouldn't have it as it is today if it weren't for Tesla's AC. They say that Marconi stole his invention of short wave energy, or radio, after Tesla showed him his lab.
He was working on the Tesla Coil when he died. They use it in the process today called Kirlian Photography... taking pictures of the human aura. It uses some kind of static electricity and Tesla thought it could repair bone marrow, make broken bones knit faster, heal arthritis etc. It was supposed to stop pain after 2 treatments and give a positive mental attitude. It's supposed to tune into the vibratory frequency of each cell or something..
