    Thank you SO much!! I was having such a hard time cutting with thin die and had no idea what I was doing wrong, since I was using both A,B and C boards to cut. Thought it might be something wrong with the machine or maybe the paper... That thin extra piece made so much difference!!! Thank you thank you thank you. I can once more craft happy xD

    I'm pretty new to paper crafting. I'm from a family of avid readers, so I can't believe I've never thought of using a book as a paper source. This gives me an idea for a card for my mom. Thank you!

    I use old dryer sheets. on top of the paper then the b plate. Makes it great on intricate dies.

      I used to do that, but they start to gum up your dies after a while.
      However, I have had a Gemini machine for over a year now and it is fabulous- eliminates the need for dryer sheets and all that. FAB machine!

    Where do you buy the shim? Cricut don't sell them. I tried with the C but is not cutting it at all the words of the die

    The blasting background music is so distracting! 🤔😑🤫
    But tried rewatching it without letting the ADHD get the best of me and learned a couple new things I was unaware of prior to checking out your video.
    Therefore - THank YOU!!!
    ...But please mute any and all background music in any future uploads, so we can just focus on your beautiful voice blessing all of our crafter souls with super helpful tips and techniques (please?!) thanks again!!!! 😘😘😘

    I just got my cuttlebug and tried such thin dies, but they wouldn't cut through (the dies are brandnew)
    So basically I came to watch this to get some help (if you can give a "diagnosis" on what the problem is)

    • @poetspice
      @poetspice  8 років тому

      Hi. Tfw. If it's not cutting at all, you probably aren't using the right combination of cutting plates or you bought an embossing set. Read the directions on which plate combo to use.

      Well the Cuttlebug only comes with an A plate and two B plates which is only good for embossing folders. You need to buy a C plate separately is you’re wanting to create die-cuts. The A and B plates alone will not CUT dies, only emboss, which creates patterns in the paper but does not cut. I know this question is really old, but I’m sure it will help someone in the future.

      Lorie Duff the metal shim- you can buy at any craft store that sales the machine or on amazon.

    I just ordered the "Baby Blue" about 3 days ago based on your review of it. I'm still waiting for it. I had also gotten a Spellbinders die cutter and haven't used it much yet. I watched another video from someone else about the Diamond Press and bought that because I thought it would be great for little dies (and it has been). I got going on all this die cutting machine kick because of my Cuttlebug. I didn't think it worked anymore. I took it apart and didn't see anything that would be obvious to me. I told you I hadn't given up on it yet. I decided to look at my Cuttlebug some more and see if I could get it to work for anything. The first thing I tried was an embossing folder. It would just slip through the Cuttlebug so I knew I wasn't getting enough pressure onto the embossing folder. So, for the heck of it, I just added another B plate and I'll be danged if I didn't get enough pressure to emboss. It was then that I realized that I was going to have to play with the plates more and I just might get it to cut (depending on what is called the sandwhich). I haven't cut dies yet. I've got to round up my C plate. But what I think I've found out is that my Cuttlebug isn't broken at all. The last time I had used it (and it wasn't cutting properly), I had kind of pushed the envelope to get the sandwhich to go through. I thought I had broken it. Well, thankfully I hadn't. That's really great because I hadn't gotten to use it much yet. I just watched your video here and I do believe you just confirmed that. I am SO glad. I had been watching a lot of your die videos and this video just happened to come up as I signed into UA-cam. Well, at least I learned one thing. I had taken one end of my Cuttlebug apart and hadn't seen anything obvious wrong with it. (That's because there wasn't anything wrong with it, lol!). At least I've seen the inside of the Cuttlebug and know one thing - there appears to be all metal gears and that's good! It's tougher then I thought. I think the Baby Blue has plastic gears because I saw a review of someone who bought one and the plastic gears had gotten messed up on it and broke. I will know to be gentler with the Baby Blue. So! Now I can count my Cuttlebug amongst my die cutters that I use and it won't be sitting useless in a corner anymore. Yay! Thanks for making this video because you helped put my Cuttlebug back into use by confirming my suspicions. What I've learned here from you is that "sandwhich" is everything. Thanks!

      I'm glad you got your machine to work. Yes, you have to adjust the plates base don what you want to cut.
      The Baby Blue has metal gears. It is a cute little machine and cuts decently. Hopefully you will like it. The best machine for thin dies is a Gemini though.

      I am glad to hear it has metal gears. The electronic versions of them are going to be long in the garbage before these manual die cutters ever make it there. I will be mindful of my die cutters. I have an Elna sewing machine that takes cartridges for the different stitches Elna had available. If Elna created a new stitch, I could buy it and use it in my Elna. These manual die cutters are pretty much the same concept. There are new dies created all the time and ALL of them I can use for one of my die cutters. Pretty neat!

    made me giggle when you commented about your butt and tatas... I can relate with the butt thing.. but my tatas aren't anything to swing about. LOL What is the reason for the shim? I really haven't done much of anything with my cuttlebug yet. I am overwhelmed with figuring out space in the craft room. I need to hire an organizer to help me LOL (if only i had the $$ for that.)

    • @poetspice
      @poetspice  10 років тому

      LOL you never know girl! Truth is truth LOL big tatas and booties get in the way! LOL
      You use a shim because the spacing in your machines isn't exact. Sometimes you need to fill the space so the thin die will cut through more cleanly.
      I have no room- just a wall and everything, machines, etc, has to fit, so I am also rearranging and changing my desk because that's all I have.I WISH I had a whole room!
