    'I wish to remember myself.' Indeed simple but effective.

    The "self" one wants to remember is ever elusive; yet, everything we do and know and feel is only possible because of the Self. Thanks for sharing with the world what you've learned. I hope you continue overcoming the resistance to produce such valuable videos.

    So true!
    Being able to detach while observing objectively to later 'feel' emotions recalled from self -remembering

    Yes, the self-observation is total around 4 a.m. . Through practice, this powerful energy since the early morning hours, can be maintained for a long time ; along the day, the energy diminishes - we become less and less consciousness, and more and more mind. But if we want to keep this golden state more time, we must learn how not to spend energy continuously ; that´s why the Muslims/Soofis always stop 5 times a day - a pause to reload themselves, to stop and observe mind, and remember the powerful energy when they woke up - prayer is just an excuse. Thanks for the video and article, very good !

      You are welcome! I’m happy you enjoyed and found it valuable. Yes, the 5 Salah of the Muslims is great motivation. Although I would argue that even these ‘alarms’ could easily become automatic. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. 🙏

      I love the Sufis. Sufism was Gurdjieff's primary influence.

      It’s a deep system of thought! I’m glad that you have found it. I would recommend starting with in search of the Miraculous. You can find it here:

    I just finished reading the book recently, super-important topic! Do you see Self-remembering as being different to Self-inquiry? A method that worked well for me was just to stop thinking and noticing the space in-between the thoughts; just the total silence and emptiness of ones true Self is experienced in that space. 🤯

    • @bookclub5291
      @bookclub5291  Рік тому +4

      I would say there are subtle differences between self-inquiry and self-remembering. But anything that allows us an opportunity to find space between our thoughts, and a reaction to those thoughts is a good thing. Whether it’s; soul and personality, observer and observed, or ‘I’ and Ouspensky. Seeing this distinction is a powerful beginning.

    This is so spot on. Personally, I find that I forget myself every often. I could only imagine how it would be to self remember most of the time. How many times have I gone to the fridge and just looked aimlessly in there? Or when you brush your teeth, going through the motions and nobody is there? These really mechanical moments are very challenging to switch on the self remembering. I was thinking of putting some reminders on my phone to help me out. Using AI for self remembering.

    • @bookclub5291
      @bookclub5291  Рік тому +6

      Hey Kathy. The intention to Self-Remember is the key. Then whether we can find glimpses, or come to after a period of sleep, both impressions are valuable. Reminders and alarms can be helpful at the beginning, but they can become mechanical very easily. It's about trying to wake up moment to moment. Efforts are required!

    Very useful video, recently I discovered Ouspensky book, I am reading it alone, so your comments are of great value. I am reading a Portugues version, the original title in French is Fragments D’Un Enseignemet Inconnu, I think it’s the same book

    Gurdjieff made his writings as difficult to read as possible, on purpose. Ouspensky is the best source of Gurdjieff's teachings. I love In Search of the Miraculous, The 4th Way, The Psychology of Man's Possible Evolution. On Love by Orage is also an interesting essay written after a long late night conversation with Gurdjieff in Tibet.

      I agree. I came to the work through ISOM and The Fourth Way too. It’s the best formatted documentation of the ideas in my opinion. But of course, the source must be Beelzebubs Tales. 🙏

    • @kingofelves9487

      @@bookclub5291 Ouspensky knew and studied directly with Gurdjieff. He was considered G's star pupil, by Gurdjieff. and his other students. I don't think even Ouspensky could have read and understood Beelzebub's Tales. Not by just reading it anyway.
      Here's a fun fact. Both Chekov & Stanislavski are said to have studied with Gurdjieff, and that The Moscow Art Theater was a Gurdjieff esoteric school.
      Meisner (Meisner technique) was considered to have carried on that school's teachings better than the "method acting" schools that came after Stanislavski's death.

      I always liked this clip of Alan Watts speaking on Gurdjieff. It's important to understand that Alan had a deep love and respect for Gurdjieff (and called him a trickster guru) and his teachings and often spoke of the Way of the Sly Man with great reverence. What Alan says here is at least partly true, and partly tongue in cheek.

    In order to ‘remember ourselves’ we need to counter the force(s) we identify with - the effort must be to always try to create a finer degree of attention, which requires energy…

    Indeed, it is import to watch yourself watching yourself. But, you don't truly ascend until you watch yourself watching yourself watch yourself. In fact, your degree of enlightenment can be seen by how many layers of watching yourself watch yourself you can achieve.

    Thsese ouspensky books in search of miraculous, fourth way,psychology of man's possible evolution don't have in depth teachings i have read these books,teachings in those books are fragmented if you are real interested in gurdjieff teachings you should start with beelzebub tales to his grandson, gurdjieff said to read this book requires great efforts, book is very big 1000pages and strange proverbs, words gurdjieff said all my real teachings hidden in that book. And i Don't think any ouspensky and gurdjieff student ever bother to go through that book. So my suggestion would be for you to start with beelzebub tales to his grandson then you will come to know what real meaning of the word "effort". Book is very difficult to understand. Don't waste time on reading other books

    • @bookclub5291
      @bookclub5291  Рік тому +4

      I have read it a couple of times, but it’s not an introduction to the ideas. If people started with Beelzebub they would never get anywhere. Which is why I recommend Ouspensky’s books or others, by way of getting acquainted with the ideas. I plan to read Beelzebub in the new year. I hope you will attend the readings 🙏
