For as much as the Rock has cultivated the lovely, ‘nicest guy in Hollywood’ persona, he will always be the guy who took liberties with someone else’s health in that 1999 match. You didn’t need to be a CTE or brain damage specialist even back then to know that smashing somebody on the head with a chair multiple times was batshit. The fact Foley agreed to 3 and The Rock decided to nearly quadruple that will always show just what kind of person he can be. I’ve always held a little bit of contempt in my heart for him after that match.
Apparently it was a timing issue where they weren't where they needed to be for the planned finish, so they had to extend that moment much longer than it should have been, but Rock could have done literally anything else instead of wailing on his head.
@@spacequack5470 WWE didn't know much more about CTE than the wrestlers did. So how can anyone get sued over it. Unless WWE knew about it, and kept it from wrestlers, I would argue that it is just as much the responsibility of the wrestlers to educate themselves about it as for the medics and the company. Also, there was always more chance of getting head trauma as a wrestler, than say, as an office worker. They chose that profession, because it is their dream. They should be protected, but also need to take personal responsibility for their job choice. Ask any wrestler, if they had their time over, would they choose to be a wrestler again, or have a safer, albeit boring profession, a normal 9 to 5 job with little chance of CTE. Most would still want to wrestle, as they are doing their dream job. Society is too quick to sue and blame everyone else for their own choices and not take personal responsibility for their decisions, Also, wrestlers make enough to be able to cover their own medical expenses. Or they can get insurance. That is the test. Will insurance companies cover CTE and to what extent? That should tell the client how dangerous their sport is perceived. The only people who win in lawsuits are lawyers. CTE is serious, but wrestlers need to protect themselves as well. What's next? Suing for arm injuries, neck injuries. Wrestlers should get insurance (which WWE might contribute something to) and then they are covered and it can be kept out of the courtroom.

You are correct, sir. I am a 90's kid and I have come to appreciate my childhood so much more in the past 7 years or so and videos like this warm me up with so much awesome nostalgia of the great MAINSTREAM entertainment of the 90's. There was no Cancel Culture even just 15 years ago, so Wrasslin' in the 90's was Cool and Counter Coulter. I remember in the 8th grade, DX t shirts were BANNED from school because of their iconic catch phrase Suck It! (But of course banning us from wearing DX stuff only made us rebel and wear them more.) Let me finish my point by asking this: If there was a Degeneration Z faction, what would their catchphrase be? "Suck It...or Lick It...I don't know. I haven't decided yet. It's complicated."
@@dcpunisher4781People have rose tinted glasses when they say there was no cancel culture in the 90s. Janet Jackson was blackballed from the industry for years for what happened at the superbowl, there was the whole Satanic Panic movement, Julian Clary was nearly banned from TV for making a joke about a politician in 1993. It’s just not true

You forgot when Jerry the king Lawler called Goldust a "flaming fag" I'm surprised how thats been forgotten by the twitter mob. It's pretty bad then and now. Different time I guess but still a brutal promo
What's really creepy is that if you go back and watch the WWE's tribute show to Chris Benoit, you can kinda pick up on the fact that many of the wrestlers who appeared on said show were at least somewhat aware of the gruesome details of what Benoit did, before the show even ended. For example, towards the end of the broadcast, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler started talking less about Christ himself and more about his wife and son. JR then ended the show by saying "Chris was a damn fine wrestler, and that's all I'll say.", as if everyone knew what Chris had done by that point.
Another one that includes Benoit is when Benoit cut a backstage promo on Edge saying that his wife and kids won't be watching Raw the following week because he's going to "do the unthinkable."

Roddy Piper in the lead up to WrestleMania XII calling Goldust a fruitcake and saying he would make a man out of him is pretty shocking as well. Even if he didn't come out and use the F-word as a slur, it was heavily implied that's what he was getting at.
Everyone remembers the half-black-face/body at WM VI and the lead up to it, but people seem to forget the "only man I know that wears more chains than his ancestors, man" about Mr T in the build to the first Mania. Also, WM 2 when he said after the Boxing match, "never will I cut my hair like an Indian, and paint myself black!". And half of that wasn't even true...

meh, thats like saying good job kid on taking all those face shots in a pillow fight...or saying wow, how did HHH not hurt that guy with his gimmick rubber.....sledge hamemer
good job kid on taking those bubbles to the face, what a champ. no one else could take so many bubbles, thats insane! sorry..just doesn't seem the fans understand anything now days.
Mick Foley is a legend this man suffered damage beyond belief he literally put his body on the line for the business its amazing he is not in a wheelchair and damn surprised that he doesn't suffer with CTE he dserves a lot of praise for giving us some of best matches we ever seen
Who Are u to say he dosent have cte
Jared holding subway remind me of his special attack in South Park game
To anyone curious about Jared Fogle, he basically pulled an EDP.
As well as paying money for CP
The tribute show is the only one I dont blame them for doing. And Jared i guess too. Hindsight is always 2020

Ironic a sign saying "Birthday Boys" appears next to Jared.
They also paid tribute to Benoit the next night on ECW.
WCW from 99-01!
Should have included Vince's lie detector test with America/Hogan. That test ended up becoming so true, i cant even compare it
It would be nice if you did an “Wrestling Moments That Have Aged Like Fine Wine In WWE” video, or a “Wrestling Moments That Have Aged Horribly In AEW” video.
Aew. I think we need a few more years. To see what's truly aged horribly.

The triple threat match at WrestleMania 20 was my favorite match and ending that night. I understand why WWE done what they did
Mick Foley really is a legend for not having any serious issues after all those chair shots.
HHH’s controversial promo was to attract more attention cuz the feud was overshadowed by Rock/Austin … that’s what I’ve read from pipe an IG page 🤔🤔🤔🤔
jared ended his career the same way he started it trying to get into smaller pants
People need to stop being offended by everything
Like give it a rest already
bro chairshots where the reason i loved wwe the tlc match was lit
If you think about it, when Kofi was working on getting the WWE Championshi in '18, there were many statements about him not deserving it cause "people like him aren't championship worthy." The storyline had shades pf Booker T's >
Did you ever think it was because he was small has a sunken chest and only good for comedy?
Acting like a cartoon. character with his goofball mates in New Day didn't help his credibility either.
JM: “you ROOK funny!”
Fans: that’s too far! That’s too far!
I don’t remember the whole Sabu thing. Yikes. I mean the whole list is yikes, but I was aware of all the other moments. The Sabu one I wasn’t expecting, although I should have.
Chris Benoit tribute show was rarely mentioned on UA-cam videos only lol
On CTE,
wrestlers and athletes know what they sign up to.
According to Big Show and Macho Man. The Rock was also an awesome guy backstage in WWE long before his Hollywood days
@@dhenderson1810Said nobody with functioning brain cells. CTE wasn't a known thing then. Educate yourself before babbling
Society is too quick to sue and blame everyone else for their own choices and not take personal responsibility for their decisions,
Also, wrestlers make enough to be able to cover their own medical expenses.
I've got the WM XX DVD box and have never seen Benoit celebrating with his family
I don't think Wrestlemania 20 has aged horribly. I still consider it one of the best Wrestlemania's of all time. Yes, even the main event. I can still watch it today and enjoy it for what it was, a wrestling match.
No
I remember watching the tribute show to Benoit. It was bad when we all found out what actually happened two or three days later. Rough
Or what the police say happened.

Chris Benoit was a ticking time bomb after eddie died
I searched what had happened with Jared Fogle and I was absolutely shocked. This man is a disgrace to the human race, and that's a fact of life. Good call by WWE to do their best to erase this man's name from their history
It isn't hard to not mention the fact that Jared from subway was on the show one time .. for like 10 minutes ..

SO much virtue signalling. People found the Cena, Vince segment funny. If anything the people who found it funny actually hate it when people try and be offended on their behalf.
It's easy to say such things when you don't walk in someone else's shoes. If you had to for a year, it might give you cause for reflection.
(But of course banning us from wearing DX stuff only made us rebel and wear them more.)
Let me finish my point by asking this: If there was a Degeneration Z faction, what would their catchphrase be? "Suck It...or Lick It...I don't know. I haven't decided yet. It's complicated."
@@dcpunisher4781People have rose tinted glasses when they say there was no cancel culture in the 90s. Janet Jackson was blackballed from the industry for years for what happened at the superbowl, there was the whole Satanic Panic movement, Julian Clary was nearly banned from TV for making a joke about a politician in 1993. It’s just not true
Thank For The Top 10 Video 🙊🤯😃😍👍🥰💗😁💐🌟🥇🏆
You forgot about Abraham Washington. His stint in the WWE was short but not quite sweet.
And all because a harmless tweet that is all the more amusing since it was just him wishing Linda success in her campaign for Governor
Which WWE did since they didn’t want her alignment to WWE to cause issue with her campaign
…and ultimately proved worthless since she lost TWICE even though her budget was somewhere around 2 to 3 times larger then her opponents AND one of his ads against Linda was using the time she kicked Mick Foley in the groin
So then firing him for his POSITIVE tweet was ultimately just proving her opponent right that she’s unfit for office in the state voters eyes since she lost PRETTY BADLY
@@arashitendou5941I agree with you, except for one thing: Linda ran for the US Senate, not for Governor.
Mick Foley's Family were their that night. His wife, son, and daughter were devastated, but they're feel a lot better after the match.
Yet his daughter tried to get into wrestling.
You forgot when Jerry the king Lawler called Goldust a "flaming fag" I'm surprised how thats been forgotten by the twitter mob. It's pretty bad then and now. Different time I guess but still a brutal promo
Nah, it's apt
What's really creepy is that if you go back and watch the WWE's tribute show to Chris Benoit, you can kinda pick up on the fact that many of the wrestlers who appeared on said show were at least somewhat aware of the gruesome details of what Benoit did, before the show even ended.
For example, towards the end of the broadcast, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler started talking less about Christ himself and more about his wife and son. JR then ended the show by saying "Chris was a damn fine wrestler, and that's all I'll say.", as if everyone knew what Chris had done by that point.
I've heard that details about the murder were revealed halfway through broadcast.
Im surprised Mick is still standing. After all the damage he's gotten over the years.
Probably actually treats his injuries unlike people who just ignore them
Gonna have to update this list 😂
Literally one of the best triple threat matches ever such a shame goddamn Chris Benoit
This is more like a "list of horribly aged moments, that you'll have to search yourself, because i won't explain it here".

Let's not forget the Kerwin White's slogan "If it ain't white, it ain't right" 😂
Another one that includes Benoit is when Benoit cut a backstage promo on Edge saying that his wife and kids won't be watching Raw the following week because he's going to "do the unthinkable."
Beyond The Mat was my introduction to wrestling

If I said it once, I'll say it again. WWE, mainly Vince McMahon, has been in the business of insulting people's intelligence, and every last one of these situations are living proof of that.
I really miss entertainment like this 🤣😂
