If you ever read this can you do an updated review on portrait of a lady? I see reviews that it TOO has been reformulated and is not worth the hype anymore :(((((
I have been wearing Gaiac 10 ever since I purchased it in Tokyo and never stopped loving it! It easily became my signature scent. I have no issue with longevity, it does stay on me all day. I get compliments a lot when I wear it. My new favorite is Citron 28. I purchased it when I was in Seoul and I am in love! It’s a happy, fresh, very clean yet very modern scent! It sure does remind me of Seoul! It’s a very beautiful scent! It does stay on me quite long time as well. I can see more women liking it than men. Anyhow, I absolutely love these two! So worth the price and the experience! From my point of view, it’s fun to try these city exclusives when you are in the city, so that way you create connection and memory with the city better. To me, they definitely provide the particular city vibes and I have very specific/ unique feeling/ memories from these two cities. So I decided to leave all these city exclusives for my visits to those cities when I visit. Based on my experience of these two scents, they do remind me of the time that I was in Tokyo and Seoul. I think that makes city exclusives more unique and interesting.
Poivre 23 is one of my very favorite perfumes. I can’t afford it, but received a small sample that I cherish with all my heart! Glad to hear it’s striking you right at the moment! 💕
Totally off the Myrre topic but have you seen the Zoologist news about Penguin?!? Don't know bout you but I'm super excited to smell an "Ice" note... I think they have a description on their insta but yeah Sebastian... damn hit that with your nose as soon as you can... Sounds amazing.., plus global warming concern/emergency/real time melt etc... yusss... let's support those penguins! I hope Polar Bear is next!
I am a Baie Rose 26 fan even though I thought it was too rosy early on. I got it when visiting Chicago. I recently rekindled my love for it when I layered it with Santal 33. They are both linear to me, so there was no clash. They both added the complexity that each one needed.
Gaiac!❤ Edit: I actually commented about my favorite in the beginning of your vid. I didn’t realize that the reason it ranked low on your list is the very reason it ranks high on mine. I like close personal scents and I get embarrassed when ppl smell my fragrance when I walk into a room. I prefer the compliment I get when I do cheeky kisses and they go “wow what is that smell? You smell wonderful and fresh!” 😅
I picked up Gaiac 10 today and sprayed myself 3 times with the in store bottle - I’ve been smelling it on me all day. It’s a bummer Gaiac doesn’t last on you, it’s such a beautiful fragrance.
I suspect Gaiac 10 is subdued because it’s a Tokyo exclusive and to many Japanese, overpowering personal scents can be considered unpleasant or intrusive. The best Japanese fragrances are light ones.
It's not on the subject but today I recived new Patricia de Nicolai perfume - Patchuli Sublime Elixir de Parfume and this fragrance is amazing - very elegant, unique, strong and high quality. Simple gorgeus scent❤❤❤❤❤❤
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you 100% that Tabac 28 is a masculine fragrance, but I (a female) rock that stuff because I enjoy it. I hated it at first, but it really grew on me. I did what you're not supposed to do with a heavy fragrance and I wore it in the heat. (Just one spray) i couldn't figure out if I liked it or hated it, so I thought id figure it out the hard way. In the end, I figured out that I really enjoyed it. The ashy sort of wears off in the dry down. I adore Giac 10... for the whole hour I can smell it. I can't drop that kind of money on a one hour fragrance though. Really love Myhrre 55! I enjoy it. Thanks for your review. 😊
I love the note of myrrh so was really looking forward to this release. I ordered a sample and was surprised that it smelled so different than I expected. As you mention, it is very unique and not myrrh focused. With that said, I really like this fragrance and ended up buying a bottle on Sept 1. Oddly I’m not a lover of jasmine or chypre’s but this smells so good. On my skin it also lasts a long time. Too expensive but fantastic.
My stomach turns when I look at the $$$ but I maybe finally getting Gaiac 10. Aldehyde 44 is my other love but for the price I much prefer to get Chanel 22
I ordered a sample set of city exclusives last year, and didn't loooooove any of them at the time, although I have sometimes enjoyed spraying the Vanille 44 or the Aldehyde Dallas exclusive with other fragrances. Inspired by your video, I just revisited Tabac 28, and am finding it both delicious and much stronger now that it's been stashed away in my closet for a year. May be time for me to get a (slightly 💸) larger size now that they're available again.... but ouch, those prices though...
Sounds wonderful.. I find Le Labo fragrances kind of light and not long lasting on me. My favorite one is The Noir 29..but i would live to smell these..youre right..very pricey!! These niche fragrances make you save your money if you really want them..😂
My favorite city exclusives are Gaiac 10, Vanille 44 and Poivre 23. Out of those 3, Vanille 44 is the only one I don't own... Yet. Maybe next year 💸 Btw, Poivre's scent trail is intoxicating! 🤩
I love Musc 25 too! I only know the latest release. It’s a skin scent and not sure how the pre-EL would be any more different than maybe the longevity? Possibly less powdery? I really love Myrrhe 55 , I love the florals in it and didn’t mind about the low myrrh note.
These sound wonderful! I have gone into Nordstrom and gave a few of these a sniff. They were the classics though. Nordstrom doesn’t carry the city exclusives. At the time I couldn’t understand the hype. Another 13 was interesting to me, however, I don’t think it’s worth the price even at 300+ for a bottle. I’d really like to smell Myrrh 55. I just can’t imagine paying that much for a fragrance though. Thank you for the video on this house!
Sad thing is i read reviews of most of these perfumes on fragnance nets and people are usually complaining these perfumes are weaker in performance once they get reformulated
Finally decided to get some for my birthday and decided to go for Vanille 44 & Benjoin 19 that are my favourite. However Gaiac 10 really surprised me when I got the sample, to me it’s really pretty and has a soft powdery touch. It might go on my wishlist
Shew, I just cannot justify paying that price for a fragrance. Once they get around $250 to $300, it has to be something truly special for me to consider it. No way would I do $500+. Sad to hear it's more of a chypre than a resinous myrrh frag. I love chypre fragrances, but when I hear "Myrrhe 55" I expect resinous, balsamic tones rather than floral chypre. I need to try that Musc 25, though, because it sounds fantastic. I'll have to see if I can find a decant somewhere. Going back to chypre - you need to get your nose on Darren Alan Perfumes. He has some absolutely stunning scents, all done in a very vintage style. (Think Manuel Cross/Rogue, but arguably even better). Chypre No. 1 and Fetes de Noel are mind-blowing. He recently released Dorian's Fougere as well, which to me is almost a fougere & chypre hybrid. Gorgeous stuff.
Poivre had my interest because it’s made by Natalie Lowrson who did “this is him” which is a great incense pepper and vanilla combo. I smashed a bottle in my bathroom by accident so I’m very familiar with it and I still like it. Are they similar? She also did AnOther 13 of course and that one is a favourite of mine (and many). The price is really too high so I might not even sample it.
While I enjoy some Le Labo fragrances, they shouldnt be charging $500+ for anything. None of their offeeings is worth that especially with with mediocre projection and longevity
Got a sample and just tried Tabac today. The day was preeeeetty hot so I thought I was going to be a walking menance. The opening is impressive with a really spicy, maybe leather-y tobacco. I was expecting a sweet note like the usual tobacco leather vanilla combo but there was none of it. So… to make the story shorter, 30 mins passed MAX and it was barely coming out of my skin. It is a no for me.
It is way to pricey for the size of the bottle. I really wish they would have kept the same prices as the classics it’s already expensive. Berlin is my fav city exclusive
@@ThePerfumeGuy yeah, all of the City Exclusives are way over priced for what they are. Great list none the less and top tier production. Bigarade 18 is special because my wife bought it for me in Vegas as an anniversary gift. Just a pleasant scent.
My dads birthday is September 23. Musc 25 is equally delicious and disappointing. The performance is absolutely atrocious. 2 hours max. I would 100% agree post EL has made this terrible. I bought 4 offical sample and all faded within the 2 hours. Not purchasing a full bottle unfortunately.
I really dislike the whole brand. The first time I went to one of their stores, they wouldn’t let me touch or sample anything. So pretentious. Eventually when was able to finally sample some, they quickly turned to skin scents. For the price, which is outrageous, they really need to be screamers. One of my friends loves Another 13. I have never been able to smell it on her. Lastly, Los Angeles has that urinal cake/laundry detergent smell that ruins so many fragrances. Aldehydes, I think. I really wish perfumers would stop using this note.
Another 13 is more pf a molecule frag like Not Another Perfume by JHAG. It does have other things like iris etc. It's a fav of min3 but that said I agree thT they shoildnt be charging such prices. At all.
No, all the boutiques are closed. Only some body&hair products are sold in department stores, but they may be from the old stock. Benjoin 19 still exists, i mean in other boutiques, not in Moscow. It is not the fault of the Fragrance. ☹
@@lutik7924 I did not wonder about the particular fragrance. I just wondered if Le Labo still had their store in operation in Moscow despite the war on Ukraine? But I gather the store is closed then?

I love how you described Aldehyde (Dallas) I have to try it.
Oh and your number 2 / Benjoin (Moscow) and your number 1 Musc (LA).
I have the Gaiac 10, and I’ve received a ton of compliments from women. I need to get a refill, thank God the refills are 20% off at Le Labo.
bought Gaiac 10 when I was in Tokyo in may this year, really love it, and I can wear in to work without offending any1 due to it's low sillage.

$515?! I can get like 8 niche bottles for that price 😲😡
