    Your wedding dress is INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL and is a dream realized, it amazes me that you are not just knitting it but that you have designed it (and are designing it). Do you feel like it matches your vision? I can't imagine it any other way. What an heirloom!

      Thank you so much!! I'm a bit amazed that I've been able to design this, too. It is a bit different than my vision of it going into the project, but I like this version a lot more!!
      I can't wait to see it take more shape!

    Hi Oline! Your wedding dress is going to be so incredibly beautiful (it already is) and Inlove your new strategy for working on it. What an amazing week of knitting you have had. I agree with you that the test knit camisole is beautiful and worth the time to frog. I hate having to rip out lots and lots of knitting, but every time I have done it I am so glad I did. As always you inspire me so much with your incredible talent and generous, loving spirit. ❤️

      Hi! Thank you! I can't wait to see it grow more and more into a full wedding dress! I'm so motivated now that I've seen it as an actual dress❤️
      Ripping back is always worth it, but it sucks in the moment! But I can't wait to have it in my warderobe as it's intended!!
      Thank you so much🥹🥰 Have a great week!

    Your wedding dress looks like something Cinderella would wear: it’s lovely! Have you considered continuing the fairy tale with short, puffy sleeves in your blue skirt yarn?
    I think it would frame your embroidery. I’m enjoying your podcasts.

      Thank you so much!! I think I'm going to do puffy sleeves in the same yarn as the skirt, but I'm probably going to go long sleeves as it's super cold here when we are getting married and I don't want to freeze😅🥰

    Well if you run out of a wedding dress to knit you can always go for a gorgeous super big lacy shawl. It is a huge wedding tradition after all. In Shetland they used to knit shawls out of cobweb yarn and prided themselves that such a shawl could be squeezed through a wedding ring...

    • @norwegianknitter
      @norwegianknitter  2 місяці тому +1

      That's a good idea! I really like the look of those shawls, but I've also been considering the Augustins No30 for a shawl.
      And I want to knit a cardigan for my son for the wedding, and one for my sister😅 And probably a few December Bows. So I have more than enough left to knit!

    Your wedding dress is really looking good and progressing nicely.
    If you plan to do embroidery, perharps you can also add small white pearl beads in the middle of each flower.....,
    Just a thought.......

      I think I want to add some pearl beads to the dress! I just have to figure out how the embroidery and pearl should work together!

    If you want to practise embroidery on knitted sample I would suggest to plan using the sample as a pillow or purse/handbag later. Enormous job with your wedding dress!!! It will be worth your effort!!

    I don't think that you need to frog the test project completely. Could you rip it back to the front then shorten the straps and rework the back. That would fit those issues. You could then work the back and adjust the body as you knit for a tighter fit. The front and shortened straps would be fine as knitted.

    • @norwegianknitter
      @norwegianknitter  2 місяці тому

      True, but ripping back that far is basically frogging the whole thing since the straps are the first thing you knit😅 and the gauge is of for everything, so I think it might be better to get a fresh start

    Not me looking up at the pile of knits that need just a little bit of finishing 😂 you're so not alone in this, but it is nice that you have set a goal for yourself to do better with that!
    About your wedding dress, you could also knit the sam amount of meters, like if you knit 1 ball of 175 meters, you need to knit 175 meters of yarn on your wedding dress. I love seeing all the progress by the way! Can you show the inspiration for the bottom of the dress on your next episode? I didn't get what you were trying to explain 😅

    • @norwegianknitter
      @norwegianknitter  2 місяці тому

      It's such a struggle to do that last bit of finishing😅 I hope it'll get easier as I go!
      I really like the idea of matching the meters of my regular knits and my wedding dress, but I think I'd need a spreadsheet to keep track of it😅😂
      I'll try to find a picture of what I'm imagining in my head!

    I don't think you should frog that lovely top I think if you buy some elastic thread and weave sew it through the loose parts it would stabilise the yarn better for you I think knitted straps always lose shape over time with the weight of the garment underneath so even if you reknit the same will happen again

    • @norwegianknitter
      @norwegianknitter  2 місяці тому

      It looks better in this podcast than it does in real life😅 it's not really salvageable with just some elastic thread, even though I wish it was! But elastic thread to reinforce the straps once I reknit in the right proportions and gauge is a good idea!

  • @marit_nor
    @marit_nor 2 місяці тому

    For the top of the dress you could also sew in some "kantbånd" on the inside lengthwise to take most of the weight of the skirt, having it go all the way over the straps and down to the waist? That would also not take to much time if it gets a bit too heavy!

    • @norwegianknitter
      @norwegianknitter  2 місяці тому

      That's smart! I'll save this idea if the dress gets too heavy! Thank you❤️

    Hei! Love watching your vlogs! Your knitting speed is amazing! And since you got interchangeable needle set, you could fasten your wedding dress main parts knitting with a small lifehack - Main needle is the needed size, but the left hands needle (from where stiches are sliding in work) just 1-2 needle sizes less, soo stiches will very easily and freely slide off the needle. Have a perfect knitting week ahead! :)

    • @norwegianknitter
      @norwegianknitter  2 місяці тому

      Hei! Thank you! That's a great tip! I've just started doing that for the mohair skirt, and it's such a game changer!!! I always struggle when knitting on larger needles having to pull on the stitches, but now I don't have that problem anymore! Ots so much faster, but my pain with knitting on large needles is also so much less!
      Have a great week!

    Hi Oline. Your wedding dress develops lovely. It is great to see it grow more and more to your fit and likes. As for the sleeves you could also consider a little bolero or shrug with the two lace yarns.
    I really love the test knit top, too bad it is too lose, from the viewer's point it looks quite perfect. I hope you find the motivation to alter and then enjoy it more.
    It will be fun to see what you gift knit for you son, I really like your box with ready to start projects for him. And maybe a cute little plushie? 😊 have a great week.

      Hi! Thank you! It's so mind-blowing to start seeing it develop into an actual dress and that my thoughts and ideas have gotten me here!
      I like the idea of a shrug or bolero!
      The testknit top looks like it's fits on camera, but the straps and the back really don't fit, and it's nowhere near the intended fit😅
      I hope to be able to make at least one plushie for my son's birthday!
      Have a great week!

    Oh my, I don’t know where to begin. You definitely had a productive week. Nice to get some extra time in. I love that you see the benefit in finishing something totally instead of adding to to the basket for later. It’s never fun to go back to and so much more satisfying to finish right away so it’s actually ‘finished’. You did incredible this week. So much progress on your wedding dress. That’s amazing and good to get the inspiration back. The blue sweater is stunning and very thoughtful to make for your friend. Planning ahead is a great thing before things get busy and I love the idea of making matching ones for her little ones. Your lacy top is gorgeous. It dosen’t even look knit, it’s so perfect. I’m sorry it isn’t fitting perfectly but at least you know what needs fixed and it will go faster the second time around and you will be much happier with the fit. It’s stunning. What else, oh yes, the little Anker sweater for your son. The color is perfect. I really love that and he will be so happy to have a new sweater. I agree 100% sometimes you have to slow it down a bit and enjoy the process and finishing more. I log everything into Ravelry as I’m working on it. It becomes second nature and very quick once you get used to it. As for embroidery for your dress. I’ve never done much with that but I do agree with another poster that waste canvas might be an option. I use that to cross stitch on garments and then when finished you pull out each individual thread and are just left with the embroidery or cross stitches. Not sure the yarn would fit through the holes. There has to be so much online for learning to embroider though. You would definitely want to practice for sure and I wish you lots of luck. I have a feeling you will conquer it easily and you will have another fun craft to play around with. Another incredible podcast.

      Hi!! Thank you! I had so much fun this week deep diving into my knitting. Having a week where I get to spend so much time knitting, thinking about knitting and planning knits is great once in a while. It's much easier to see clearly where I want my priorities to be after a week like this! Can't wait to see the wedding dress progress more and more and figure out what I want to do with it going forward!!
      I think weaving in all the ends for the projects I have in my "basked of shame" and staring fresh will be such a relief!
      I do log all my projects into knit¬e, and I love doing that and having it all digitally! But there is something with doing it my hand and taking those moments to slow down that I really like and have been missing this year.
      I'll ask my grandma and sister about the embroidery, I'm sure they'll have some ideas and tips!
      Thank you so much!
      Have a great week❤️
