I literally saw this coming across my recommended page so I’m going to vent below. I’ve have a few long distance friends (they live in Virginia) who I met in 2021. They are the type of people who I could talk to for hours, who make me smile, who make me happy that they’re part of my life, and who feel siblings to me. I visited them during my spring break and it’s wet. I feel the most happiest. When I’m with them, I feel like myself. I feel like I have nothing to hide from them and I feel like I could be open to them about anything. Recently, I have not spoken to them in months due to a lot of reasons like anxiety, life hitting me with a ton of bricks, etc. I want to be able to text or call them and catch up and ask them how they’re doing. Maybe probably visit them again. However, I keep overthinking in my head that I might mess up or they might be mad at me because I’ve been distant. I really miss them a lot. I think about them a lot, and I see them in my dreams as well. I really wanna talk to them again without having anxiety that they will be glad that I haven’t reached out in months.
I am gonna be straight up. If they're mad at you for being distant for longer than expected, that's their problem, not yours. This also means it's not meant to be. Good friends are happy when their buddies call after sometime. They might even call to check up on you if they're great friends.
