    I’ve owned a CTR and now the ITS. I couldn’t be happier with my choice. I disagree entirely about the CTR being a better daily.
    ITS pros:
    Engine Tuning
    Suspension tuning
    Sound system
    Styling (more subdued)
    HUD
    Heated seats
    Optional heated steering wheel
    Rain sensing wipers
    CTR pros:
    Better seats
    Better digital dash
    With all that being said, I’m hoping Acura does a mid model refresh with updated seats and digital dash. I’d buy another ITS in a heartbeat

      I swapped the Integra suspension module into my FL5 Type R and it's been as perfect as I've wanted. Despite all the niceties/creature comforts in the ITS, nothing can beat these seats....

    Great to see the bike test, I just assumed a bike would fit without removing the front tire. 👍 (I dont understand White cars especially with black wheels, looks SO boring and generic)

    "Buy the Civic and swap the suspension. Save money"
    If you are lucky in finding one at MSRP, a challenge that still persists today.

      Nothing egregious. It’s pretty free to gain and lose rpm. Nothing like some WRX’s I’ve driven in the past..

    lol dude, what happened? your spouse wonder why you paid a sh** ton for your Type R instead of paying MSRP for a Type S? You'll sit there and push a narrative about how unoticeable 5 extra horsepower is nothing (I agree), but you won't give a parallel example with what you did with shoving a bicycle in the trunk to rationalize that just 1.1 cu feet extra storage space is oh-so-substantial? As if a bicycle is what's going to be the standard storage component and not--say something like, I don't now--suitcases? Look...your better case about "my money" is this: the Type S deserves better luxury applications for an Acura. Before you--or your followers--try to tear me apart, look up the other reviews. You are the ONLY one I've seen who acts like the Type R is CHEAPER when we all know it's not when it's time to pick it up from the dealership. This review is full of sh** and I'm annoyed that I watched the entire thing just to be objective...key word: objective, which is more than this review was.

    I got news for you, they are both lift backs or fast backs, neither is a hatchback as described by the angle of the rear hatch even if they are slightly different. Interesting take though as everyone else has felt that the CTR is the more hard core choice and the ITS is a better daily driver with more relaxed seats that are easier to get in and out of.

    • @zach2954
      @zach2954 3 місяці тому

      FL5 is hatchback, DE5 is liftback stylistic wise, pointless to argue over semantics of the lift angle.
      ITS seats are better for larger (fatter) folk as they are less intensive on the bolstering. Sometimes you don't pick the seats, but the seats pick you... 😅

    • @jimsgaragetoys
      @jimsgaragetoys 3 місяці тому

      @@zach2954 Well you are correct that it's pointless to argue over the angle. If it's less than 45 degrees it's a liftback and if it's more it's a hatchback. This is why the FL5 is not a liftback. Nobody calls a Prius a hatchback because it isn't, it's a liftback, just like the FL5.

    I don't know if the Type S seats are the same as those in the "regular" ASpec Integra, but on a recent test drive I found the seat bottoms shockingly hard and borderline uncomfortable. It was definitely a factor that made me move on from the Integra. (And I didn't even know about the bike-test fail!)

    The Type S only makes more HP than the Type R on its recommended 93-octane gas, which is not available in many western states, including California. With the Type R's recommended 91 the Type S's hp advantage disappears, and its fuel mileage gets worse.
    The Type S needs heated seats because they're leather, which get both colder in winter and hotter in summer. While the Type R's amazing cloth seats could still benefit from a heating element, it isn't nearly as necessary as it is with leather seats.
    That being said, I do wish the Type R had heated seats and a heated steering wheel. I can somewhat forgive their absence, however, considering the $7K price difference between the Type R and Type S, especially when a $250 purchase of the Type S's suspension module eliminates the S's one other advantage over the R. Meanwhile, the R looks better, has better seats overall, more room, more storage capacity, easier loading, the cool +R gauge display, shift lights, and, perhaps most importantly, the Type R driver doesn't have to live with the Type S driver's nagging knowledge that he isn't getting full power or fuel mileage from his engine because 93-octane fuel isn't available in his state.
    It's not only the Type S, either. The GR86/BRZ have the same problem. They both recommend 93, with their owner's manuals stating that running on a lower octane will reduce power and fuel mileage while also causing occasional knocking and pinging.
    Come on, manufacturers, don't design your motors to run on fuel that isn't available in your largest American market. Conversely, come on, California (and those other western states), offer 93 Premium like the rest of the country does. Get on the same page here, people.

    Thought you covered it good... at 9k miles on mine now This car is a great compliment to my s2000. Also as a fat kid the Integra seats are nicer for daily life. Also really enjoy the exhaust noise of the Integra more over the nothing the civic gives from the factory. Hope the West coast is treating you well!

      I agree the Integra Type S has a much better sounding exhaust note from the factory. I"d have to get a new muffler and exhaust system from the Type R, it sounds so boring.

    You FL5 guys love to rag about the seats but I disagree.
    Having driven both, the DE5 seats are much nicer, no they don't hold you in place as well on the track, because they aren't track seats, the inferior seats are the seats in the FL5, sure they are great on track, but they are hard to get in and out of, they aren't that comfortable, and they don't have power, leather or heat.
    Unless you only drive on track they suck as daily driver seats
    You can't judge everything based on track performance, with a car that was never intended to go on track, the DE5 is a street performance car, not a track car, even though it is quicker, faster in a straight line, BUT if you add Ricaro seats to a De5 then you have the best of both, the faster car with better track seats.
    The DE5 is superior on the streets, as a daily, and on track the FL5 has a tiny advantage because of the seats and stiffer suspension, that again is good only on track, it is useless off the track, both cars are nice, but if you are a track guy, I mean you go to the track weekly then yes the FL5 is for you, if you go twice a year, then the De5 is the better car, and yes, you can buy one ricaro for the driver and swap it on the track days and be able to hang with and even beat your buddies in their FL5's.

    I don't know, why buy the Civic and then put the Integra parts in it? just buy the integra and get a racing seat for track days, cheaper, easier and now you have the better-looking car with racing seats, and a livable suspension module for daily driving, to each his own, whichever car suits you better is what you should buy.
    Personally, I would never pay a markup and it is still hard to find a civic for MSRP so for my money, the DE5 made the most sense.
    I like both cars, I started out after a Civic, then found the FL5 then the DE5, and ended up buying a 2024 Apex Blue Integra Type S, love the car.

      We must be twins. 🤣 I went to five different Honda dealers and non of them would even let me sit in it for less drive one. I went to Acura and within ten minutes my sales man was putting a plate on one for me so I can drive it. Needless to say, a month later I took my Type S home.

    • @zach2954
      @zach2954 3 місяці тому

      because styling wise I strongly prefer the FL5 over the DE5. Not a fan of the tacked on fender look and bulging vents on the rear. It's more of a matter of taste and everyone will differ. The way I see it. Especially if you want a more bolstered seat, then the FL5 is a no brainer, Can save the cost differential and fix the suspension for only 200$ with the Type S module. I don't see the appeal to buy the more expensive car and then have to spend an extra 2k on a single recaro seat for the track, when the FL5 is cheaper and has the 'track seat' from factory.
