You do good work Juan. One of the most devasting things with cancer is to lose your hair. Having a nice hat to wear becomes so important, especially pretty hats for women. I am speaking from experience. Nice lightweight hats for summer, and warm ones for winter.
One of my dear friends just started chemo. Do cotton hats work or is another fiber better while going through chemo?
I have cancer so I made hats and gave them to the cancer center but yarn hard to come buy
Cotton would be nice and soft, and something a bit warmer for outdoors, depending on the weather where you are .

Hi Juan! I love these episodes where you crochet and chat with us. My husband was first diagnosed with cancer in 2019. That’s when I discovered BoD on UA-cam. I made every hat Crystal had a tutorial for. He’s still not in remission and he stays cold all the time. So making beanies is a monthly thing for me. I also donate so many to UAB Oncology along with blankets, scarves and lapghans. I truly appreciate how involved you are with your community. Thanks for spending some time with me this morning and talking about all the things. 🥰🧶💜

AC Moore was a great store. (New York) I and another crocheter would travel 1.5 hrs by bus to get the great sales. Loved that store.
So happy for Crystal. Most of my FOs and WIPs are her patterns. I also have Fiber Spider and Creative Grandma in my stash.
One pound yarn is great. Making several blankets with it.

I was crocheting along with you. Whenever I wear a Quick Silver beanie, someone else wants one. I have a couple more in the wings and my friend wants me to make them for her shop! I too miss ACMoore. I liked that shop better than Michael's. Our Michael's went out and was replaced with Old Navy. We still have Joanne's but it is small. My last Dunkin was butter pecan. That is one of my favorites! I haven't checked the app for April specials. Maybe I will treat myself tomorrow!

Juan, any red heart items I made my mom in a nursing home were washed in SUPER hot water and dried HOT. They were ruined. Ask them at least no dryer.

I live in a greater Cleveland suburb. A suburb close to mine had a new AC Moore store. I just loved being in the store looking "at all the things". We barely had 1-1.5yrs with the store when AC Moore announced going out of business. Michael's came in trying to sign people up for their savings deal you sign up for. I think it was around Christmas time if I remember correctly that the store closed. Cold air was whipping in as we went to check out so it was a cold month. When shoppers finished their transactions, each were told if refunds were needed to take the item with receipt to Michaels. I never heard a thing about Michael's doing a merge. So strange. I wondered if Michael's did the same on store closings in other states.
I am having a time getting stuff to come out right lately. I seen a swim suit cover up and decided to make it for my daughter…. She tried it on to see if it was long enough and it wasn’t…. So I did the pattern across the bottom. The main part is going the other way but it looks ok I guess. I will have her try it on again and see … we are small yet every pattern is big even tho I do gauge and use the right yarn. Now this is too short!
My walmart has crap for yarn...makes me sad to go to the yarn aisle.. I have to drive almost an hour to joann, hobby lobby and michaels...😢
I'm wondering if maybe you were thinking of putting a different colour on for the last few rows of that blanket, but couldn't decide which colour, so just folded it up til the colour came to you? Anyway it's looking lovely 🙂

Hi Juan, I am a fairly new subscriber. Just wanted to know if this may be from state to state, but I think I made a few years ago some blankets for the Cancer Floor for the patience to use while getting their treatments. They can give them away to the patience if they want to. Anywho, thought about doing that again and called I just thought about it and I think it was Hospice this time and was told since Covid they were not allowed to take blankets. I could understand if someone smoked cigarettes etc. but I wash the blankets before I give them away usually. Anyhow, just wondered if you had any problems wanting to give to facilities for patience. I got mixed up, I think it was Hospice I called this time. Just wondered. I enjoy your channel. I enjoyed your Mom's Birthday Party Bless her heart. I think she had a great time. I miss A.C. Moore also. I don't know what they went out of business they had some decent yarn sales sometimes and the shelves and store looked full. I really don't care for Michael's as the ones I have been in only have by one get one 50% off or something like that. I wish I knew other ways to get yarn since it is sooooo expensive. Hobby Lobby has a 30% off every other week so that is pretty good. I would rather get from them since they are a Christian Store. Well, I really enjoy your channel and watch when I can. I need to look down through your videos to see if you have one on how to read a pattern. I am so limited just doing the basics DC, SC, HDC, TRC. I have so many books THank You Jesus, but I do better watching someone. Take care and TY. Please tell your Mom Hi for me.

Hi Juan, i really like your blanket, i hsve yet to make a mostly white blanket, OR a granny squares blanket, but i do have a bunch of squares made (i have to make some more) and a bunch of hexagons i still have to put together from a CAL i participated in last summer "the hexadaisy blanket" by meemamakes, its gorgeous i just have a problem putting things together lol maybe this summer ill work on that

Hey Juan! I absolutely love when you sit down and talk to us as you work! I get a wip and work right along with you! I just enjoy the conversation though. I only have one "yarny" friend and she lives in Atlanta and I'm in Tennessee, so we seldom actually get to visit much in person. She's now 81 and I'm 70, so it's not like we can jump in the car and go visit each other. We talk on the phone once a week for a long time about what we're making/have made, so I so enjoy visiting with you while I crochet!!! Please continue doing this for those of us who are kinda homebound and enjoy your company while still "making all the things"!!!🥰 See you next time!
You and Bag O Day are going to be spreading all the way to Idaho! You have been spreading your love for making hats and as I improve those hats need somewhere to go other than my storage unit! My grandkids can only wear so many hats at a time! Thanks for giving me some ideas of where the yarney goodness needs to go!

I finish with three rows of border because I like the idea of trinity. Also, it is as if it has a blessing vibe. Am I superstitious? I don't know. I like trios and triplets in music....maybe it feels magical too?
Put the sentimental blankets back after you get all the donations out and put them in the shelves directly behind y'all so there's something there.
I am an 81 year old southern lady and disabled so I crochet all the time and donate to charity wherever I can glad to see young people giving
