  • After many years of not hearing this song, the thought just came to me to give it a try on the mountain dulcimer....what do you know, I think I actually found most of the chords! I hope you enjoy this beautiful tune from 1978 by Henry Smith, Jr. called "Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart".
I hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving, as we truly have a lot for which to be thankful!

❤❤❤ Thank you Mark! I just survived a major heart attack this past week. I have been a believer for many years, and have always loved this song. It has a new meaning for me this week. Thank you for putting it out here.

I love you fingerstyle picking. It's Beautiful. I have a important Question? I am trying to learn. Could you please put out TEACHING videos on how to play this way and use some of your beautiful songs you have on your page. Going super slow step by step through a song with repeats. One step or part of the songs at a time. I see people playing but I cannot figure out how to get that sound. Almost but I have to play song 60 times.😮😅
Can you also please put notes to the song Give Thanks.? You are the only person out there with this song, this style. It is one of my favorites. I know you would be a great teacher.
    Thanks. 😊

@@annhester3983 thanks for all the kind comments. Actually, I don’t fingerpick…I use a flatpick and do what’s called crosspicking. Dealing with copyrighted material is tricky at best. For this particular song, I would need to create a tab sheet music arrangement through one of the online sheet music sites so they can take care of the royalties. That said, it is something I’m looking into. For now, I would suggest attending a local dulcimer festival or workshops, as well as getting some instruction books. I just finished my new book “The Essential Four-String Dulcimer” that starts at the novice level. I play completely in this 4-equidistant string style. Thanks.

This sounds wonderful! I didn't expect such music from a dulcimer.
I will try it on my very new Strumstick...

Thanks for listening. I don't have any tab or lead sheet as of now, but maybe tab for dulcimer soon.
