These pranks are not random - they are targeted. Typically someone will "set up" somebody to be pranked (a friend, a relative, a spouse).
That's what happened here :) I think his girlfriend wanted to prank her boyfriend.

Most, if not all of these phone scams, were prepared beforehand. A person had called the show to play a prank on somebody specific. It's likely that his girlfriend told them.

No... prank calls are not illegal unless they involve breaking some law to pull off the prank. If a prank call is illegal, then so is any other prank or any other joke you could POSSIBLY pull on someone. That is absolutely ridiculous.

Nah for radio you must get consent. You cannot call someone and put them on the air without telling them they are going on the air. Most prank calls cannot function if you tell them they are going on the air first. That is why phil hendrie is the only one with real callers.
