    Anna, I love the way you narrate as you paint. It really gives the viewer a good perspection on how you are achieving your painting and what you are experiencing.     You are clear and articulate in your descriptions and decisions! This is very helpful in understanding your color perspective and composition. Am also impressed by your confident brushwork. Very nice demo and final painting. I agree that Oregon coast is exceptionally beautiful.

    Your painting turned out gorgeous, and I absolutely loved watching your process! So incredibly helpful. PS regarding your difficulty drawing trees, as you have said, I recommend cutting down all trees, and then there will be no more difficulty painting them, for anyone.

    Love your spirit! For trees, block in the darks and look for "bird holes" to let the background come through.

    The easiest way for me to decide where to paint is to determine whether the view I see will fit well on one of my canvases. Its surprising how often i find views that don't fit, so it's a good way to reduce the indecision.

    Yeah, don't use a fan brush. You just need to figure it out. I use a different brush for any one tree. But I use acrylics, so I do it differently, I suppose. I LOVE to paint or draw trees. Probably because I used to (a million years ago), climb them. Anyway, I look at how the light hits them, especially the ends. Painting the dark first, and then light after that, to get the highlights. My husband and I went to Oregon coast in 2018, and it was magical! Hope you get some good paintings!

    Vasari? Jesus, you buy expensive paints. No no no no no no. Lol
    That's so odd. I find portraits to be more difficult for me than Landscapes. I can do a portrait, but to capture the emotion, essence, spirit of the person; to make them apart to be alive and living their best life, I find very difficult.
