An immigrant from Venezuela, Maiko moved to the United States to create a new life for himself. He built a successful business as an auto mechanic, but his American dream soon became a nightmare when a confrontation over unpaid service became violent and Maiko was shot, taking out several teeth and part of his gums and jaw.
