Oh my god. I cannot put into words how great this video is. Almost every video on youtube talks about cheese moves, but no one actually explains how to play against the cpu on basketball fundamentals. I've been looking for a video like this since nba 2k16, and you did it the best. thanks so much! The only problem I have is I don't exactly know how to launch as quick as you do, like in the first example, when you crossover to the right, you go so fast, you you do that crossover with the right button pressed? or you just tap it? you have to keep the analog to the direction you wanna go or you just tap the analog? is there a video on your channel teaching these fundamentals? Thanks so much for this video.
Appreciate the kind words my guy! And I appreciate your mentality! Most of the community really looking for the easy way out with OP animations, so I thought I had to get something in there in terms of using basketball fundamentals to set up how we play the game! In terms of launching out of animations, my first tip is to know when to launch by getting familiar with different launch windows out of RS moves. On your question on controls, I hold the left stick diagonally up-left or up-right towards the direction where I want to launch, and hold R2 simultaneously as I launching using the left stick. So say you want to launch out of a right stick crossover (tap Right Stick left to non-ball hand), I wait for the right launch window in the animation, then hold turbo and hold the Left stick up-and to the right to launch into my crossover launch move. Keep the left stick held up-right to continue your fast burst out of the crossover. You'll need to work on your launch timing really well, and really get familiar with your different sizeup animations. I hope this helps, and if you need more advice, just let me know!
@@KevinCruz016 Thanks, I didn't realized that to launch you gotta go diagonally up-left/right, I always tried all to the right or to the left. Thank you!
i really appreciate this video. it all makes alot more sense now and feels like i'm plugging pieces of a puzzle after watching this and knowing what to look for in defender reactions, i always felt like i was spamming moves hoping for a fakeout/freeze animation. real basketball content
Man, I appreciate this comment so much because that's my overall goal. First is to really help open things up for the community, and second is to make sure we stick to the spirit of playing basketball even though this is a video game. Appreciate you bro!!
Keep up this type of stuff man! It's so annoying watching UA-camrs play and they always do the same glitchy Curry slide cheese to get wide-open 3s online! You're actually doing real basketball moves and trying to make the game as Sim as possible. So much respect for you putting out quality content like this and the other videos you do. Keep it up!
That's the plan bro!!! We're going to keep convincing people that you don't need to play some glitchy video game stuff to have success in the game. I appreciate you man, and I'm glad you like it!
Appreciate you Travis, I'm glad this video was useful to you! Absolutely man, I'm a huge lab advocate! It's an opportunity to set yourself apart from everyone else!
What do you mean by the lab? Is there somewhere other than mycourt on the ship i can run around and practice my dribbling and such? Or is it a next gen thing only?
bro I don't like online that much I usually play with friends and when I am by myself I just play with the CPU on HoF. I love it cheers form Puerto Rico.
Hall of fame is definitely meant to test your patience. I don’t recommend it because of the CPU’s ability to cheat the system, forcing you to play a certain type of way to hunt cpu patterns. But, a lot of people like to play at HOF so I’ll gladly do what I can to help!
I appreciate this and I’m looking to take this approach in 2K23. The game wasn’t fun for me anymore because I struggled to do this. How often should I lab working on dribble moves?
Appreciate the kind words Trevor! I wouldnt spend too much time getting the advanced dribble moves down, but I would work on combining set-ups from the triple threat to knowing which moves to combo with while on the move. I’d say just spend the 3 hours it takes to learn the basics of triple threat and dribbling. While developing combos. And use in game situations to really map out your play style and develop combos!
Glad you found it useful! I should have probably done a video on this after my basic tutorials were done, as this caps everything off and ties everything together. But, better late than never! And it was something a lot of people asked about!
Just during the initial launch move and blowby and the drive to the basket. I don't rely on turbo too much because of how stamina can get drained easily, I like to strategically use it at the right time when they're out of position. You can check the stamina bar, you'll rarely see it depleted or get really low. The defense sticking like magnets is just how it is on next gen, especially on HOF I think!
I have a hard battle against stepback movements in 2k22. The player stops, does a change of feet and doesn't and keeps on the same place of the court. :( I don't know if the sensibility to pull R3 back is incriased than 2k21 or If I am doing something wrong. :(

Yes sir! The only way I know how to play!
We need a video on just stepbacks. When you should use them. The escape dribbles work best with spin jumpers. You can get a green release everytime.
Are you referring to step-backs using dribble moves or step-back jumpers?
