All fake bracelet selling on eBay between $40 and $50 are advertised as "Multi-Tool Stainless Steel Bracelet for Outdoor Camping," they don't mention the name Leatherman so you already know is a copy or replica of the original. But anyhow, original or fake, is just a waste of money because they look very heavy and uncomfortable. The original product from Leatherman selling at $175 is easy money maker for them because they know there's always a "sucker" born every minute who will spend such price to get it. The product is more of a conversation piece and those who purchased it, have only one intention in mind, to show it off to friends and co-workers. I'm sure 95% of them are not planning on using the tools on a regular basis, they just want it because it looks "awesome" as a watch band and they want to hear that wow!..cool!...comments. I seen reviews of people complaining about the screws holding the original bracelet together, getting lose and the bars connecting the links, starting to rust after a few month of use, and unfortunately those parts can not be purchased separately. There is no way the Leatherman bracelet would last for more then a few years once those bars start to fall apart.
Wow this is very comprehensive comment that deserves to be pinned. I agree completely. It is not comfortable at all to wear it, and there are very few opportunities where you can actually find use of it. Other than that, swiss knife can work for almost anything :)
I almost bought a Tread, but then I realized, I have PLENTY of tools and EDC either my MP800 Legend or Wave daily and I just wanted the tread as a watchband for my GShock Rangeman (The Green/Black/Yellow highlights look fantastic with a black 'tread'). In that capacity, the knockoff is fantastic. If I HAVE to use it as a tool, it would survive a couple uses, but if it rusts, falls apart, whatever, I can replace it a couple times before I hit the cost of a Tread. I got one of the amazon ones that dont claim to be a tread, they just stole the design and use cheaper metal. Hasn't failed me yet, feels fine, no flash or imperfections. Edit: Just for giggles I tried wrenching on a flathead bit with my Wave's pliers and it didnt bend, so it may be cheap metal, but it seems like it would work if it had to.
Completely disagree. I have a neurological condition that causes me to lose everything that isn't attached to me. A tool that's accessible when I need it is a thousand times more useful than a higher quality tool on my dresser at home.
I bought a knock off knowing it was a knockoff. It doesn’t have leatherman on it anywhere. But it is good quality and oddly enough, I actually use it quite often. Used it today because I needed I small flat head. It’s a useful tool to have and it makes a cool looking watch band.
That is good when you pay decent price, but for me they wanted to charge me full price for the fake one. Yes sometimes it can be very handy, only if the price is more realistic.
Unboxing Sve : oh yeah, I agree. I would be very upset if I paid full price for the real one and got a fake. I didn’t realize that was an issue. I’m going to start checking everything I order from now on to make sure I’m not getting ripped off. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the video... One of the big reasons why i bought a real one at twice the cost was the strength of the metal...On the fake ones the bits literally break or bend after one or two uses....the real ones also bend and break but you really have to put a lot of force on them...but since it will hurt your hand, people usually dont....I bought the LT version.....its more jewelry than tool.
That knock off looks like someone took the original apart and cast it in cheap pot metal. That's why things like the carbide glass cutter on the fake is all one piece of metal. And you can tell by the general fit and finish that it's cast from a cheap pot metal. It wouldn't surprise me if it would bend out of shape the first time you try to use one of the tools.
Unboxing Sve Given that this needs to not only be a bracelet, but a functional tool its best you decided to return it. There’s no point in having a clone of the Tread if it more than likely can’t stand up to the task of an actual multi-tool, which for me is an important part of owning it.
@@Ben7seven7 iv seen reviews where the real leatherman tread bends🤷♂️ unfortunately even the real one is stainless steel, and you shouldnt hope for tools that arent made out of tool steel to stand up to the task
Moboots Gaming mine hasn’t had any bending issues knock on wood, but unless it’s made out of something crazy strong then given its general design certain tools on it will never be quite as strong / durable as a dedicated tool.
You think it would. But I had it less than a month and I live in a humid region. Guess what happen. The stupid thing rusted up on me. Bima just buy the real thing now
Cannot be better than the original for sure, but that price is very good. The only issue with fake ones is their material quality so if you want to use it as a screwdriver for some tougher things then maybe it will slip as it is not strong enough not good materials.
@@UnboxingSve I can’t speak to the fit and finish, but one person pointed out that the attachment clasp on the fake one has 2 little round domes to secure the band, while the actual “leatherman” version only has a dome on one side. 🤷🏻♂️ the only other major difference they pointed to was that the glass breaker on the real one is made of two separate materials, while the fake generic one appears to all be uniform with the rest of the casing. I bought a fake on for 8000 € made from pure gold. Poor tool, l admit. The other one made of mercury l bought in my Sibirian holiday was quite cheaper, but it vanished during my flight home.
@@muhamadaliffjamaluddin717 Not as of yet no. Yes I completely agree with you. Of course, the big price difference is due to difference in the quality of used materials.

reckon the knock off one would work just fine for a fraction of the price of a genuine one
Not really because it is made from cheap materials that will bend when trying to do screw or unscrew some harder bolts.
at under a third of the price I would be willing to give it a go for some light jobs, its quite a good looking copy @@UnboxingSve
