They founded a new daughter to take over the old business called Transgold. A court in Hungary decided against a lawsuit of the Hungarian government against Aurul S.A. because Aurul S.A. didn't exist anymore. Same case happened with lawsuits in Romania. In 2010 several lawsuits against Transgold's mine reopening weren't successful. Transgold rebuilt the dam with a bit better security and a better maintenance concept including a catch basin in front of the new dam. Through the protests of the population and continued lawsuits Esmeralda decided to liquidate Transgold and sold the mine and dam to Romaltyn, a kazakhian company, which operates the mine and dam since 2014. The EU commission and several NGO's criticizing the whole situation because of the possibility that a comparable accident can happen again any time in Baia Mare.

The rammsteinwiki also mentions it is the cyanite accident, but it was supposedly never officially confirmed
