Great video! Thank you for producing! Your video is still helpful for those of us that have been in the market for a BMW X4. My wife and I just ordered a 2025 xDrive 30i yesterday which just might be the last BMW X4 gas engine produced by BMW. After driving both the 30i and 40i, I went with the 30i simply because we liked the ride quality in the 30i version. The 40i is a monster and fun to drive as you mentioned however. For our pure driving thrills and fun, we also own a 2024 Mini JCW Convertible. The 2025 X4 30i as you mentioned has plenty of power for getting onto highways, highway passing, etc.. We ordered our 2025 X4 fully equipped. FWIW, both my wife and I are 70 y.o. and we love the sporty look and feel of the X4 over almost all other competing vehicles (Mercedes, Audi, etc.) at this time. ALMOST purchased an X3 but could not get past the boxy look that some refer to as the "soccer mom" vehicle ;-) Also FWIW, our son owns a 2024 BMW X6 40i which is extremely nice but a little on the large side for us. My wife and even myself at 6'3" have an easier time getting in and out of the X4. A more of a lateral in/out than stepping up and down. Very happy to be still getting the physical controls for many dash functions of radio, heating, AC, etc.. The newer single panel screens just don't impress me and make simple changes to cabin temperature more complex. Also.....I still like the electronic gear shifter over that little tab. Progress is not always progress imho. I am trading in our 2022 Mini Countryman All 4S for the X4. That is another example of the 2025 Mini Countryman's changing drastically in style both exterior and interior. A single OLED screen on the mid dash simply does not look appealing to this 70 y.o.. One reason I never cared for TESLA. Again....thanks for the review!

Thanks! There’s a big difference between the two. Although the m40i has a $10k higher base price, the 30i uses a 2.0T 4cyl (248hp 258 lbft 0-60: 6-6.5 seconds) while the M40i uses the B58 twin scroll turbo inline 6 cylinder which likely makes over 400hp and torque and can do 60 around 4 seconds! I personally think the $10k is worth it
I have an important question - when you look at the sticker options, it says $2,900 for the M Sport Package and then there is a cost of $1,550 for the M Sport Package breakdown. It looks like some double charging is going on here. What is included in the first M Sport Package for $2,900. Sorry if this should be obvious, but it really isn't.
It’s confusing but the 2,900 is for the m sport package itself, and the 1,500 is for the optional M individual rims. I don’t know why it’s labeled like that either, but they’re not double charging. Appreciate the comment!

The X3 and X4 are honestly close enough price wise where I’d go with which ever I thought looked better. Power plants are pretty similar, so are the interiors. I also personally think the M40i is a better value and probably the best platforms that bmw sells for the money, but if cost is a serious concern, the 30i is also a great value. Tough question to answer but if I had to choose the perfect bmw suv under $60k, I’m going with an X3 M40i all day.
I personally prefer the way BMW’s drive with their balance between luxury and performance. If you prioritize luxury over performance, id go for the GLC however the X4 is still plenty luxurious in my opinion.
Question… So I don’t understand how is the grille black on the xdrive30i?? I’m ordering one but never got or found an option for black grille?! I’ve seen many videos of 30i and some grilles are black some are grey. I can’t seem to find anything that let’s u customize it black on the bmw website!
I personally think it’s a big upgrade. The 30i is more than enough power for daily driving, However the M40i makes this SUV a truly thrilling experience. Yes this X4 has the M Sport Package but I don’t believe that has any effect on the exhaust. I agree that this 2.0t sounds really good and it feels even better on the road. One of the only turbo engines that truly builds power all the way to redline. Thanks for the comment!

The M40i is an extra $10k so personally, I’ll take a base M40i over a 3.0i with a bunch of options since even the base models come standard with everything I’d need. I was also confused by the 2 m sport packages on the sticker but the package itself was $2900 but this particular spec had the 21 inch individual rf M rims with ran an additional $1,550. They could’ve probably made it make sense better on the sticker but hope that makes sense!

no, the surround view is still available if you order the parking assistance package which is a $700 option for the x4. it is not available on the 2022 x3.
Only BMW stitches their plastic. Only BMW has their tachometer running BACKWARDS. ONLY BMW delivers their cars with cluttered confusing dash control layouts. Only BMW switchgear feels lower quality that Hyundai and Kia.

The grille black is part of the M package.
The black grill is part of the shadowline package. Without the package you just get the standard silver grill

no, the surround view is still available if you order the parking assistance package which is a $700 option for the x4. it is not available on the 2022 x3.

You have to add it on, but it’s crazy that it doesn’t come with it automatically

You should know that using a "Fish Eye Lense Camera" distorts the image and gives the viewer an unrealistic view of the car, in this case!
