Hi Tobgi. Great reaction! Really enjoy your enthusiasm for this series and I look forward to your reactions to eps. 5 and 6. I'm a boomer, so am not as appreciative of eps. 1-3 (though i don't hate them) and even less so of 7-9 plus everything else. Still I hope you enjoy as many of them as you cover. I wish I could convey to you what it was like to be in the theatre in 1977 and see this movie. I was a Uni. student at the time and I think I must have gone to see it 15 or so times. At that time, with the single exception of "2001: A Space Odyssey", this was quite simply the best-looking sci-fi movie we had ever seen. Somewhere in the 15-17 minute mark of your reaction you express doubt about the imperial forces believing the 2 droids. Just a couple of thoughts on that. Earlier in the film it was established (in the bar on Tatooine) that there is at least some degree of "techno-prejudice" toward droids. "We don't serve their kind here" was a phrase frequently heard in parts of the US during its ugliest phase of racial prejudice. And, we see on the Death Star a number of droids - including I believe at least one of the same model as C-3PO - working there. So the imperial forces - encouraged to do as little independent thinking as possible, and inclined to think that droids are incapable of independent thought - just accept 3PO at his word. I think it makes sense. Anyway, just my take on it. Best wishes.
Great reaction. Also, this is from 1977, there was no CGI back then. This is all stop motion and live full and scale sized models. Back in our day, you had to have talent to work in “the arts”. Having said that, this 1977 version of the film you watched, is not the original theatrical release, released in theaters that us kids saw. In the mid to late 90’s once the film industry started changing, and switching to CGI, as that technology came to life, the owner/creator of THE ORIGINAL Star Wars Series George Lucas, decided to go back in the studio, and “jizz up” the original 1977 release, with CGI affects in certain areas of the film. However, most of the CGI inserts he added into the original film, was during the Moss Eisley Cantina scenes. These are the scenes where Ben and Luke go to find/hire a pilot, to take them to planet Alderaan. Most everything else you see in the film is live action full or to scale sized models, incorporating the stop motion technique. Using these scale sized models, is another reason why this film does not look “dated”, and is what has help this film, look and stand “the test of time”.
"Back in our day, you had to have talent to work in “the arts”..."... well thats why 3D modellers and Animators dont get the credit they deserve bc most peole dont know how hard it really is. so you still need a lot of talent or more hard work in the "arts"
"Its good CGi" well xD this movie is basically what started CGI in the first place but the only CG thing here is the little Death star animation at the meeting. So there is basically no CGI involved
How's it going Tobgi! It's been a long while watching one of your vids, but you did a movie here I know very well. Hope you're going to do the release order as it's the best way to avoid spoilers. Enjoy the ride, in a galaxy far far away!! 🖖👽 I saw it in '77 and at the beginning when that big imperial ship flew into view filling the screen you could feel the theater vibrate a bit!! Most of us seeing that for the first time knew this was going to be an impressive movie. 2:25 Actually Tobgi the CGI here and elsewhere was added many years later on update versions like this one you watched and same with the next two, Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi you're likely to find and watch. The first two Star Wars came out before CGI was developed for movies. In fact the first one was not even called "Episode IV - A New Hope" because they weren't sure if Star Wars was going to be a success back then, so sequels weren't planned. The very original first three SWs would amaze a lot of recent reactors who are used to these redux versions of the original three. If you get chance someday to see the 1977, 1980 and 1983 very original releases of the first three definitely watch them to see what we got back then. BTW, it was when "Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" in 1980 that we knew the first one was a "Part IV", and that one day _prequels_ would come out..... maybe! And they did eventually starting in 1999..... and with a lot of CGI which was well developed by then. I think the 1993 Jurassic Park is probably the earliest, and _really_ impressive CGI that came out in a movie in a major way, though CGI goes back to the early 80s. For one of the first CGI scifi movies check out "The Last Starfighter" (1984). "Tron" (1982) is another good one. One scene you saw that was NOT in the original release of Star Wars was when Jabba was talking to Hans Solo in the flight bay. It was originally filmed with a human actor and is why Hans called him a "human", but the scene was not used, thankfully. I'll tell you why later to not spoil anything. Not surprised you like Star Wars and be sure not to do ANY research on the next one because of major spoilers. That is if you haven't watched it already. Enjoyed your video and will be looking for the next one! 🖖😎
The main three who came first really are the sh*t, 1-3 is quite allright too, a spinoff , Rogue One is quite fantastic too, it comes between movie 3 and movie 4 on the time line. The latter three has not got too much praise, but that can be a good thing too- less expectations 🤷🏼♀️
Star Wars? Lovely!
Yessss!!!

@@TobgiReacts Thanks man. Ready for Empire Strikes! To us old SW fans we liked it even better... if that's possible. But really it's all good. 🖖👽
