Canelo said he’d knock him out by the eighth round and that definitely didn’t happen because Berlanga was still active after he got knocked down. The 12th round Berlanga was very active exchanging punch for punch. He look like he could fight a couple more rounds.

Berlanga genuinly was never in trouble, ate the knockdown, was in the POCKET WITH CANELO ALL NIGHT GOING AT HIM, had Canelos face bruised and marked a little, but Berlanga genuinely fought a very good technical fight even on the back foot majority on the high guard switching the south occasionally to measure distance with the lead hand, had canelo controlled all night imo and was never wobbled or hurt in the fight, the Knock down he just got back up from. Berlanga is very technically sound, gets caught here and there but genuinely was in the pocket and engaging the whole twelve rounds in his face.
You bring up some excellent points. After watching this fight I cannot help but feel that with curtain adjustments and hard work Berlanga’s has a bright future. Berlanga stood in front of a very motivated Canelo and held his own.
