Meet BMC’s Demolition Man: Udaykumar Shiroorkar’s Journey to the Big Screen | BMC | Mumbai

Dongri, Madanpura, and Mohammed Ali Road are few areas in South Mumbai, known for overcrowding and encroachments. These problems have always been tough for the local authorities to handle. But in 2016, one BMC official, took charge and his goal was simple: to remove encroachments and illegal construction and provide adequate space for common citizen to walk. Even with pressure from local politicians, this official didn’t stop. He worked hard to keep his ward free from illegal constructions. Ho got the title of ‘Demolition Man and Singham’ for his action against encroachments and illegal constructions. This brave official is UdayKumar Shiroorkar, now a retired Assistant Commissioner of the B ward of BMC. His incredible journey will soon be shown in a Marathi movie, bringing his story of bravery to the big screen.
