    I clicked on an intriguing triangular island and I got this!
    Of course Piri Reis wasn't a hoax. There was no hoax value in a Turkish admiral creating a map with real longitudes using projections that people didn't even understand at the time. And if that was the only evidence we had of ancient prehistoric civilizations then it would be easy to dismiss it. But all those megalithic structures all over the world didn't build themselves, and as much as we would like to attribute them to known civilizations, it's just not possible. Plus, we know that oceans were at one time much lower in many parts of the world because we can see underwater ruins that can only be explained by a rise in oceans at the end of the last ice age.

    • @grobbs666

      "Of course Piri Reis wasn't a hoax"? please show me your evidence for your mislead beliefs.

    • @mike4ty4
      @mike4ty4 10 років тому +6

      Why is it impossible for known civilizations to have constructed those monuments? For example, Egypt's pyramids. Why couldn't they have built it? Don't say "I can't imagine how they could, so it's impossible". That's a logical fallacy called "argument from personal incredulity". So you have to give something else.
      It's been demonstrated that simple techniques which would've been within the grasp of civilizations and societies of those times could have been used to do the construction, by countless experiments. Also, in the case of the Pyramids, which I just mentioned, remains of infrastructure to support the workers was found there, proving the Egyptians did, in fact, build them.
      It doesn't take super-technology to stack rocks. It just takes a little human ingenuity, and a lot of muscle power. Put those things together, and you can build some amazing monuments, and indeed, they did.
      We may not know the precise and exact method that was employed, but we don't need to: all we need to do is show that it would've been within their reach, and then there's no need to consider alternative hypotheses unless you have some kind of extra evidence to support or suggest them. Do you have such evidence? If so, you should present it here.

    What I am about to say might be hard for some people to read, but it is the truth. But before I say it, I want to say this.
    No matter what I write below, it does not diminish the fact that there may be ancient civilizations who were far more advanced than we realize. I personally believe there were. However, the three mentioned in the video cannot possibly be among them. The ancient civilizations with far more knowledge than it is classically taught that they had were most likely the Ancient Egyptians, Incans, Greeks, Minoans, and Chinese. In my opinion those five either had established global trade, or at the very least had a global trade network set up between them, even if they themselves didn't have full reign of the oceans. What I mean is Incans trading with Chinese and Egyptians. Egyptians trading with the Greeks. and Minoans. Greeks and Minoans trading with Egyptians and Chinese. Like basically each one individually might not have had global trade going on, but together their trade and thus knowledge of geography spanned the globe.
    We already know where Shangri La was. Archaeologists have been there. The civilization was primitive by today's standards... It was primitive by Ancient Roman standards. But it was far more advanced than any other civilization in the area at the time.
    Atlantis, as well as the story of Socrates, were cautionary tales made up by Plato, to discourage people from the path of science. Plato was a member of the crazy wackjob cult run by Pythagoras, and the entire religion believed that it's better to think about how the world might work than it is to do experiments to find out how it is. So Plato came up with Atlantis, saying that they sought knowledge and science, and were wiped out. Then there's Socrates, who was put to death for employing the scientific method.
    Lemuria is a fictional continent made up in the 19th century by a science fiction author.
    I am willing to reconsider my position on those three. However, verifiable evidence must be provided before I can reconsider. I have researched the hell out of Atlantis and Shangri La. My research on Lemuria was cut short by tracing the origins to a fiction novel, with absolutely zero mentions of it in any myths prior to that 19th century novel. I didn't stop there though, I also looked for evidence that there may have been a continent in middle of the the pacific and found that it's pretty much an impossibility as far as I can tell.
    Again, present me with evidence if you disagree. "I had a telepathic message from an Lemurian living in the Andromeda Galaxy" is not evidence of Lemuria because I cannot verify that you had such a telepathic message, no matter how much you believe you did, even if you are absolutely correct about it, I still can't verify it.

    Aren't all shores of Antartica NORTHERN shores?

    • @WhirledPublishing
      @WhirledPublishing 8 років тому +1

      +Steven Kenniff The Antarctic Peninsula has an eastern shore and a western shore. Weddell Sea also has eastern and western shores - so does the Ross Sea, etc.
      Most people know next to nothing about Antarctica - they convince themselves that it's a big blob of ice and snow on a continent.
      Antarctica is not a continent. It's a group of island mountains, mostly covered by snow and ice which extends out over the sea water and connects with the ice and snow on the other islands, which creates the illusion that Antarctica is a continent.
      Greenland is also a group of island mountains covered by ice and snow.
      But all this is stuff they don't want you to know.

    Our earlier ancestors having better navigational knowledge and travelling vast distances across the oceans is widely accepted, we know that the Austronesians started criss crossing the Pacific as early as 10,000BC and possibly even later. We know Bronze Age Europeans traded across the whole of the Mediterranean and further and that the Vikings crossed the Atlantic regularly, its no stretch to imagine that there might be some truth to some of these maps.

      @Gary Brown: That would be impossible, since today's maps are constructed from direct satellite imaging, which gives THE TRUTH as to the geography of the Earth, and if you compare these maps with the current satellite maps, and are _Honest_ about the comparison, you'll find they do in fact differ, meaning the earlier maps are wrong.
      Find it funny that the map that supposedly shows "Antarctica" also _fails_ to show the east coast of North America correctly! I think the "skeptics" are right here, and as usual, the "conspiracy theorists" are wrong. Someone said "What do you call 'alternative medicine' that's been proven to work? Medicine." I'd suggest: "What do you call 'conspiracy theories' that have been proven true? History."
      Tise Ignite That would require some very extensive geological change in the past 2,500 years, which is pretty much impossible. You can't move continental plates that fast. The friction would melt the entire crust. Nothing would be alive on Earth today. Contrary to what some people popularly believe, the crust of the Earth does not float atop liquid, but instead sits upon "rock wax". That's what the mantle is like: a waxy *solid*, not a liquid. Besides, there's no source of energy that would accomplish such a movement. Finally, there's no trace of such change in the geological record.

      @mike4ty4 Todays maps are often marine navigation maps, period,, scientist use different kind of maps depending on the info they need, (surface info, navigation info etc)... Its not that one is false and the other is more accurate,, its that the representation of what earth looks like is a rendering, not an actual depiction of earth,, so maps are always (even when mapped trough satellite photo) an illustration of reality,, unless youve been into space, (or on some very good spacestation footage) no one knows how earth really looks like.. its an aprochimation... I was shocked to see that landmasses look different according to which maps (computation, scales etc) where used ... yet this distorted reality has been promoted as if it was the truth and only truth .. The question and main topic
      remains,, how could this old PR map, contain near satellite accurate info?

    In regards the Piri Reis map. Yes the map does imply that the bottom coast is Antarctica , but if you have a moment and read Dr Hapgood's theory on Earth crust Displacement (a key premise of the film 2012). One of the small islands is the Falkland islands. Along with what is now Nova Scotia, that has significantly moved from Besides Florida in the map (look for the key's not the Fallious! However my best guess is that it's still south America. Given that it's curved around.

    the graphic ''Triangle Map'' shown is very likely an aerial photo of a USA military island base from the era between WW2 [when radar became ouvert] & 1980 [when satellites covered the same ground]. Such remote sea bases could consist of only a "radar shack" + 2 or 3 short airstrips fitted onto a tiny atoll. See 'Kwajelain Atoll' for the largest of these.

    Cartographers were highly specialized and protected people in the ancient world, and they rarely collected their own data. Rather, they spoke with ship navigators and other cartographers to source their were so the large amount of 'hearsay' made for a very relative definition of 'good maps'. ALSO, maps were the state secrets of their time, the best maps were kept to the government and their friends and at sea the navigator and ships captain were the only ones who had access. When the ship was compromised the maps were the first things destroyed before they surrendered/scuttled their vessel...so not many old maps remain.

    Look at it this way: in almost all religious texts, as well as a huge number of authentic and important historical records, there exists legends of an advanced or utopian society: Atlantis, the Garden of Eden, etc. Given, it may not be that there was once a civilization that technically speaking, was more advanced or perfect than ours, but the existence of so many legends from all over the world about similar societies, to me, definitely shows that there were some advanced cities in the past.

    • @horatiotrismegistus616
      @horatiotrismegistus616 10 років тому

      Jonny Harding Nope. Never been much into herd mentalities of any kind. Interesting to study from aloof, but not usually going deep enough in the pursuit for personal understanding. Both have their place. Just like any data we come into contact with, it ultimately gives us the greatest gift when we learn something from it. Testing the limits of what we can see & know, allows us to better approximate the "big picture" in terms
      of probabilities. Many of our personal convictions come down to a position that we find ourselves taking on one side of a probability. I am not a "conspiracy" theorist but when I hear a good story, I will sometimes take a look. Look at how much has been covered up in the past, in our recent past and the ancient past. There have always been major disconnects between the "playing field" known to different classes of citizens; their database of current on-goings would not
      put them in a position to make informed judgments or decisions as those at the top 10% or less- and as long as secrets are easily kept, there will be hidden things revealed. But there is a lot of complete garbage and bullshit out there that I wish I had known more about a long time ago.

    • @jonnyharding3646
      @jonnyharding3646 10 років тому +2

      I watch a lot of conspiracy videos myself, however always find them to be based on solely speculative evidence which is presented as fact- and with this I do mean all the time. That's what annoys me if more arguments were based on sound or at least credible evidence, then voices would be heard more and there wouldn't be any kind of grouping of conspiracy theorists either.

    • @horatiotrismegistus616
      @horatiotrismegistus616 10 років тому

      Jonny Harding Exactly. There are valid finding which do raise important questions, but people are more interested in making money
      (ATTN: ancient aliens) and making outlandish claims. Sometimes I hope that more honest researchers will continue to ask questions
      (and they are, in regards to things such as the dating of the Sphinx), but the sad part is there is so much time & energy put towards supporting their "agendas" instead of simply following the evidence where-ever it leads.
      It is truly frustrating and holding us back!

    The advantage of a fiat currency is in theory to match the expansion of the money supply with the expansion of economic output rather than having the money supply expand arbitrarily whenever a Yukon Cornelius strikes gold. This helps prevent unwanted inflation from rapid, unexpected changes in the money supply. The gold standard can become deflationary during a time of economic expansion due to its inelasticity and ultimately put a damper on growth

    There are maps that show the outline of Antarctica that are hundreds of years old (at least) and the actual mapping of Antarctica was not done until a few decades ago because of the ice that covers the land. Such information comes from civilizations that are no longer around on this planet, but they were at one time. The evidence comes from deep within the earth, coal mines and such, and these artifacts tell of what once was on our planet, and what will happen again someday...destruction.

    Of all of these, I'm most inclined to believe the Piris Reis map because it could fit into biblical history. After the Flood, the frequent volcanic activity created a perpetually cool climate due to all of the soot in the atmosphere. Warm oceans, a result of the Flood, evaporated and deposited moisture on the land. This caused a buildup of ice and lowered sea levels, potentially even exposing land bridges between continents. This would aid humans in recolonizing Earth after the Flood.

    The trouble with most of humanity in general is that we believe what we want to believe, and this is no exception with anybody. Society wants to believe that we are more advanced than we ever have been in the past, so the ones that control the knowledge we have are repeatedly squashing anything that could prove that we're no better than we were in the past. That's pretty much why society isn't making any massive advancements with its attitudes towards issues and knowledge that we don't agree with.
