Great video! Huge fan of your work so far and love Beachcomber as a character, one minor thing I want to mention though is that the Legacy figure's tires are made of PVC, not rubber. As a result, there should be a lot less concern when displaying it on your shelf and it sits proudly as my definitive Beachcomber.

Remember buying the Energon Beachcomber when I found it forgotten on the top of the transformers display at a Walmart. I never liked the mold so sold him on eBay soon after
I’ve always loved him, too. There’s something about Beachcomber that’s always resonated with me, I think it goes all the way back to that Transformers Mosaic I read when I first started getting into Transformers.
Different strokes for different folks 😃. I like the ROTF Comber’s mold, Dune Runner is a figure I’ve always enjoyed, I just don’t think the colors work for me. But hey, the fun of talking about toys is different opinions!

I don’t think I explained the issue as well as I should have. It won’t happen just by having the figure nearby, paint and plastic damage is only caused by direct contact with the rubber over a prolonged period of time. If you were to put figures in storage, or have one of Beachcomber’s wheels be pressed against a painted part of another figure for a matter of months/years, that’s when there could be issues. Doing a lot of major characters back-to-back led to these videos occupying all of my free time. Starting with Elita-1 and especially Knock Out, I started talking about every figure a character has received. The Soundwave video was supposed to essentially be a “greatest hits” with some oddities thrown in. Because it was the first one, I hadn’t really figured out what the videos were supposed to be. As a result, a lot of important and interesting Soundwaves never got mentioned in it. The only reason Reactivate wasn’t in it was because at the time, I figured the game wasn’t out so I shouldn’t talk about the toys from it. The Soundwave figure is really cool and deserved a mention, but I didn’t do it. I love what the videos are now, and I wouldn’t have started making them if I didn’t start with that Soundwave one, but I regret the way I made it. I’ve decided that eventually, that’s the video that will be remade and turned into something I can be proud of now.
The tires are made of a rubberized plasticizer that has also been used for the blast effect is Siege, the treads on ROTF Demolishor, and various other components of Transformer figures. This polymer is known to cause plastic to become brittle over times, causing breakage, but its more common side effect is damaging the paint of figures. Say you put Beachcomber in a storage box or even on a shelf and the tires made direct contact with a painted piece of a different figure. Over time, it would strip the paint off and stain the tire. It is exceedingly common with Marvel Legends where this material is often used for capes or coats, but it would have the same effect on Transformers. When I was do research for this video, a number of people have already had this happen to them. Now the tires themselves will be fine. It’s not like G1 toy where the rubber will self-destruct in time. It just has a bad chemical reaction to more common pvc plastics.
Aren't you abit caution with the Legacy version? Like ain't the designers are aware of past rubber tyres figure in the past and their reputation and would of made improvement on it? I mean as you said, there has been no report of the issues but yet again it would take years for the effects to happen.
A decision like that can often come from budget teams or on the factory level, but these materials are still very common in Hasbro. Their Marvel Legends figures still use the material for capes and jackets, and the problem exists in that line as a result. I do think I overstated the issue here, but I also feel it’s important people are aware of it, especially if they plan to store the figure for any long amount of time.

I have the figure of Legacy and honestly I haven't had any problems and I really enjoy it.
It’s a good looking figure! The tires are an issue that would only really show up years down the line, it’s just something to keep an eye on.
