I really wanted Lagoona to be a more elevated version of activewear... I feel like the Haunt Couture dolls are elevated versions of their core OG outfits, and I don't see this Lagoona as being quintessential Lagoona... she is more reminiscent of her Dawn of the Dance outfit silhouette with Shriek Wrecked influence
This is so true but honestly, Dawn of the Dance is a good line to "elevate" for lack of better words.

Cleo is goregeous, but the $75 price point for these dolls is questionable to me. I will probably wait for the Cleo and Ghoulia reproduction dolls to come out.

I don't think the school bag fits Cleo. I feel like she would have one those tiny designer purses that Maddy had in Euphoria, that could hold absolutely nothing else except her makeup and phone. Cleo is not coming to school to learn lol

These 2 were the ones I were looking forward to the most (as Lagoona & Cleo are my 2nd fav MH characters, just after Catty). However compared to the other 3 haunt couture dolls these 2 looks kinda, well, cheap? They're not necessarily bad just not the same level as the others.
Also don't know even to begin with Lagoona, this looks like they just mixed Dawn of the Dance with shriek wrecked & monster exchange, changed the colors and materials a bit and called it a day. I agree with a previous comment that said that Haunt Couture is like an elevated version of their core OG looks, so she should have had a more elevated version of activewear.
I do like Cleo's outfit it's kinda nice (except for the phone holder, the mix of teal and blue, and the belt) but it just doesn't say Haunt Couture to me it looks more like a playline outfit to me. Also as someone else mentioned beetles (or scarabs) were always Nefera's thing so I don't think it goes too well with Cleo tbh. And why does she have a backpack and Lagoona a cute little handbag? Should have been the other way around imo.
I did intentionally want these but reconsidering cause the $75 price tag + shipping, customs, & VAT to where I live (in the EU) is makes me doubt if it's really worth it (& if I miss out on them they're going to be even more on ebay due to scalpers). Why can't they just sell them through amazon in addition it would make everything so so sooo much easier for us EU customers.

My guess about Amazon is that these aren’t produced in numbers high enough to allow for (or bother with) distribution through a large retailer like that. I guess you could say Mattel should just produce more, but either these aren’t actually that profitable and/or Mattel doubts there are enough people willing to pay the price. Amazon always adds a charge over the exchange rate too. For me in Canada, as long as I get more than one doll, it is cheaper to order from Mattel USA and pay the $12 shipping than it is to get from Amazon with “free” shipping.

Ya know... I had a feeling I wouldn't love their designs. Cleo's look is basic, in a $25 play line way, nothing couture about it. Lagoona's design would be cute in a formal dance line but makes no sense in this one. Them taking advantage of nostalgic fans and making these dolls $90+ with shipping and tax is disheartening
I think they’re going for an 80’s madonna aesthetic for lagoona with the long mermaid dress and cropped jacket on top

I do really like these dolls but I just don’t feel like they fit with the other haunt couture dolls. They just don’t look very cohesive compared to the other ghouls

These look so pretty! I'm excited for each of them. I wish Ghoulia would have a HC doll - her dolls were always some of the prettiest to me. Based on the release schedule this year, I'd guess we'll get one in August and one in September. I'm looking forward to the higher quality photos, but just based on these, definitely going to try and buy them!
Lagoona's hairpiece to me is reminiscent of coral and a fish fin. I don't know much about species of coral, so I'm sure it's modeled after a specific one. I own a relatively small number of MH dolls and the vast majority are Draculaura dolls. There are many dolls of other characters that I'd love to get and personally I'm really loving Lagoona's design here. To me the dark blue on Cleo really clashes with the teal

I think tho Lagoona needs less layers on the skirt and maybe a different head piece and slight hair change.
As for Cleo the detail on the pants looks like it can’t hold the phone case so well on her leg but love that detail, also the dark blue phone and belt piece are interesting.
I’m pretty excited I’ve already got the other 3 so I’ll definitely be adding them to the collection, plus I need to know the drama.

Cleo outfits looks like they I mixed heat accessories to all her different outfits when you original motor ri and smash them together with a bit of the athletic leisure ware that’s been trending hopefully the cell phone gets a new mold and that the suffer was supposed to look more like regular iPhones it be weird to have a non-coffin shaped cell phone
Cleo is amazing, that's how you slay after break up hahaha. And I just wish that Lagoona's style is more into sport's wear+fashion but she reminded me of her doll in the dance of the dawn line.

Lagoona has always been my least favorite of the ghouls. Probably why I wasn’t that phased by her new appearance in the reboot. But MY GOD do I want that doll!

They look kinda tasteless.
Who designed these? I do not know who it is but there is a big probability of them going through things (for example, divorce or depression?). I do not know what is going on within the MH designer team but the lack of clear art direction in recent releases is really bothering me.
I just have nothing really positive to say. I am quite upset. If this is what collector dolls are now then the playline dolls for sure have a high chance to fail upon release.

I think at this point I'm fully shifting to rainbow high once i get Creeproduction Frankie to go with Clawdeen and Draculaura. MH lost the gothic charm that made it so revolutionary in the doll market years ago, and after all these changes,super high prices, plus seeing G3? I think I'll just let it RIP and leave it for the new generation. It's clear that we're not Mattel's focus anymore and we're never going to get classic MH back as we knew it😔.
@@frankie224 I am pretty sure Rebecca still works on MH. She designed comic con frankie this year and is often mentioned to be the lead designer. However, knowing she designed some electrified dolls and seeing this year's comic con makes me concerned.
@@sissysovereign1294 I get what you mean. Nevetheless, it must be noted that the gothic aesthetic of MH dessapeared after 2013 (at least that is what I see), so the issue (in my eyes) is the lack of unique and daring concepts that would still make MH stand out. The edge is what missing in many new dolls, not the gothic aesthetic.
Edit: also, many MH doll designs rely too much on prints rather than details and interesting fabrics as well as having less and less muted/darker colours in them.
I would've not say it tasteless, more like they are suffering from the lack of details(Cleo at least IS).
Omg they look stunning! I like lagoona but is it just me or does lagoona look she has a different looking skin tone, like it's kinda shimmery.. I don't know, probably the lighting. Honestly, I'm kinda sad the leaks of the lagoonas purse and cleo's shoes were fake cuz they looked amazing, even tho those look awesome too. Also, about the surprise you mentioned yesterday and with mattel contacting you a couple days ago, I kinda have a feeling about what they might have contacted you about. (Don't think it will be voltageous tho maybe cuz it's a SDCC doll, but you never know) Also thx for always being on top of the doll news and giving great content, like you were literally the first channel I'm subbed to to make a video about those. To me Lagoona looks like a mix of her Dawn of the Dance, shriekwrecked, and ghouls night out, and og outfits. For me, I’m not very impressed with the dolls. I think Draculaura, Frankie and Clawdeen looked way better imo.
These look beautiful and I am excited! But also, I hope they come out later...I'm still trying to catch up on my doll collecting and Mattel and MGA are both punching out so many that it's hard to keep up, especially with my current budget.
To me the funding for these dolls predominantly went towards 1. Draculaura and 2. Frankie. From there I’d say it went to 3. Cleo just because she does have more fabric to her costume and she does come with a fabric backpack like the first two. Then I’d say it was 4. Clawdeen because she’s basically wearing her original outfit with the exception that it is in new fabric. Also she does have an actual chain for her purse along with the addition of her fur jacket but that doesn’t make it feel anymore expensive. Lastly I’d say 4. Lagoona because although it does seem like more materials were used for her look over Clawdeen’s, her outfit still looks incredibly cheap. Especially her purse.
Lagoona looks so different, Cleo yes she’s basically herself.
I feel like these dolls don’t match the other three at all for me, the other dolls feel like an upgraded version of their actual outfits but these feel like completely other looks.

I love love love Lagoona she's my fav! Although I think they should have ended her dress on the skirt part and remove the fin of the the mermaid dress. Basically remove the fluffy skirt part just keep the pencil skirt. Then instead of aocks just put her in fishnet leggings. I can't really judge the color scheme since the light is ruining it.

I’m pretty psyched for these dolls!!! Cleo looks amazing and I honestly didn’t see her blue tassel bc of the lighting but I still think she’s gore-geous!!!! As for lagoona, I think the jacket, dress, and shoes don’t work together as a silhouette but the colors are pretty!! Lagoona is my fav out of the main ghouls so I was rlly hoping to get her, but cleo takes the cake for me, I think I might be getting her instead. Still on the fence. Maybe I’ll get both?? we will see :3 otherwise I’m very excited!!! i hope we get ghoulia!!!

Yes to Cleo, no to Lagoona. I have a 2nd Creeproduction of Lagoona that I was going to return because her lips have a little flaw, but I might keep her because this HC one isn’t great, and the reboot version of her will look so different.

They're strangely not very inspired by their original looks compared to the first three HC dolls. Cleo should be the one with the purse instead of the backpack, and I feel like she's more inspired by activewear than Lagoona is. Like why is she wearing loose pants when bandages are meant to be fitted? Lagoona's two-piece long dress is such a strange choice when the others are more casual, and it fails to evoke the athletic chic style of her signature look. And that cheap jacket on top of it does not help whatsoever. Idk they just seem like they would clash alongside the original HC dolls. Those two releases are going to two completely different events lol
