Wow, the pitch correction softwere really does some work in these choruses. The first and last notes are almost two octaves from where they originally sounded.
@@skoto8219 I should have said "about two octaves" then. 😅 But it also depends on the tonal center. It sounds to me like the highest note here, in the start of the chorus, is much higher than the highest note in the original, at the end of the chorus. That might mean that the low note had to be raised more than the high not had to be lowered.
@@JBergmansson Nah, it's the same notes at either end of the chorus, it's just the distortion from the pitch correction software that makes it sound weird. I checked against the original song.
I prefer it when you sing and play the instruments. It really adds an extra layer of purpose to it. It makes it seem like someone from a far away land composed it, and while it may seem strange to us, it meant the world to them.
I actually prefer when he just edits the original recordings. New vocals and instrumentation just make the cover feel like a parody to me, almost like a Weird Al thing, whereas these edited versions feel more like we're uncovering hidden layers of tonality and meaning within the original song and performance. I see where you're coming from though.
i think both are good. versions like this are good to hear what the song would actually sound like with negative harmony, but the ones where he sings and plays it himself make them feel like a new song, and have a totally different feeling than the versions like this.
@@JohnSmith-jd4qm I really like ones like enjoy the silence, and the instrumental sounds very bouncy on this one. It's just the vocals sound very unnatural and robotic, making it very hard to process it like normal music made by a human. I have to process it in a completely different way. Sure it's cool to hear the different intervals, but I much prefer to hear the covers and pretend that they are completely original songs.
Evan Houston yeah the artifacts from the edit make it pretty hard to treat it like a regular song. Some of the actual covers I have in my normal music rotation and it works because there are no artifacts. It’s fun to play those ones to random people and watch them try to figure out what is happening I don’t think it would work with this one though
@@evanhouston7246 Yeah, Enjoy the Silence is definitely my favourite one so far. Maybe it's because I listen to a lot of (sometimes fairly harsh) electronic music, but I actually don't have a problem with the machine-like vocals - they remind me of gentler electronic groups like Kraftwerk. The edits to Enjoy the Silence etc do sound funny and distracting at first, but after a few listens I get used to them and I can just enjoy them as (almost) normal music.
