Some additional description because a lot of new people are watching the vid! Instead of a 'normal' commentary, Eyes of a progamer is a series about breaking down the little details of top players and trying to learn from them, which requires a lot of pausing/rewinding because so much happens so quickly! It is not supposed to be a shoutcast/commentary or even a game analysis, you can find plenty of 'normal' casts on the channel - try this one: ua-cam.com/video/aVBF0aADiVs/v-deo.html - of the best of the best and the best of the worst (Bronze League Heroes ;)
Like he said, even a second can mean the difference between winning and losing a pro starcraft game. He got a half second out of Dark, which turned out to be enough to take out 5 of his drones.
I'm a big fan of watching SC2, but I'm really bad at the game. When I watch tournaments I generally don't understand why people do certain things or what counters what, and the casters don't help much either. I really enjoy your "eyes of a pro gamer" because it gives me much more insight as to what is going on and everything is way more exciting. Keep up the good work and I can't wait until the next episode!
play the game and improve you can get to plat/diamond with no talent sure it might seem impossible but its not once your at plat/diamond you can much more easaly understand the game
Agree. I started with low gold and wasn't able to get higher, mostly because of not having an a-move race. Playing from time to time got me to Diamond 2 as terran.
Just press the button to play ranked you get some insights after some time else you can look for Builds lotv.spawningtool.com/build/ .You watch some GM Terrans on Twitch
I found a caster that explained everything when he casted. It's not for Starcraft 2, tho. It's BRNKoINSANITY and he plays and casts Forged Alliance Forever. He's very helpful and explains the pros and cons of the units when he casts tourneys and stuff
Zypher pro level gaming utilizes micro at such a higher level that if you havn't practiced any of it will not be that helpful for lower ranks. Practicing such micro is good, but some of their strategies are based on not making mistakes and that requires crazy micro, map awareness, and macro skills. It's easier to focus on macro and map awareness at lower tier levels and slowly building from there. That's where learning a few key strategies with each race and how to counter them help a lot. Playing all the races and learning standard build times will give you an idea of when you scout someone what they might be up to and allow you to try and build the right composition.
Never played StarCraft but a lot of Warcraft and C&C, but I was fascinated about the kind of presentation you do here: like a pro sports commentator with a huge base of knowledge. Captivating!
This. This video. Watched huskystarcraft years ago and had no idea wtf was going on other than regular rts tropes and didn't think much of it. This video pops up in my recommended years later and now I think about the decision making, mechanics, and overall badassery that this game possesses Thanks so much winter, I can now fully appreciate spectating this game
Donno if you'll read this, but maru hotkeys are usually like that "overlapping" He has all unit production on one hotkey, than starport and factory on seperate ones. I think this is for rallying all buildings somewhere quickly. and then being able to rally the starport and factory to separate locations if he wishes. could be argued if this is more efficient meshing the two normal styles together. TerranCraft had an article on how he also sets his hotkeys like this.
Maru's multitasking and constant super pressure, always staying on the very edge of the death has done this game. It was just unbelievable how, always staying behind the Dark in supply (often 1.5 time in army supply) he was terrorizing Dark! Zerg! all over the map!!! It was awesome game... I am sure, in this final, Maru has done play that we never saw before. It is real masterpieces!
Should bring this series back Say a first person cast of Bun like a year ago (not named as part of this, but from this channel), actually pretty helpful
They trained in hard mode like Vegeta did.... and when the pros came and invaded sc2 we are all but hopeless until the AVATAR MASTER OF ALL RACES AND FEATURES CAN DEFEAT THEM
Keep it up! You are a few of many people who call out the games, Day 9, HDHusky, and others have stopped doing it. You sir, keep it up. I enjoy your videos!
with times 16 speed Honestly i think The Riddler threw the first match on purpose kinda instead of making 3/3 marines with his bank and that way harassing his way to victory he just sat back and annoyed Avilo, wasting his time The Riddler IMO also played supiriorly
god ive seen this vid THREE FUCKING TIMES and it still pops up in my home every single time i log to youtube. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS NEW INTERFACE LOL.
I've said it since the beginning, the defense and harass of T's have always been the hardest to master but always the most rewarding to learn. Maru really knows how to control this race to its maximum potential and deserves to win it all. My opinion though. Great match.
I just finished watching the Season 2 GSL vods, which came out earlier this month (June 2018). Of course the casters were all hyping up the competition the whole time, but why am I not surprised that Winter called it back in early April: Maru won his RO32 group 2-0, his RO16 group 4-0, sent Rogue packing 3-2 in the quarter finals and bested Classic 4-1 in the semi finals, and then went 4-0 against Zest to take a 2nd consecutive GSL title. During the incredibly Maru-dominated final series with Zest, Artosis commented that "Maru is speed running the GSL!" Rogue had looked completely devastated after getting knocked out by his teammate in the RO8, but there was no sign of that grief when he took to the stage with 5 other Greenwings and Tossed Maru into the air. I think Maru is only the 2nd person ever to take two consecutive GSL championships, right? The only other person to do it was MVP, that was before LoTV. So I believe Maru has done what no other player has, as far as LoTV goes.
thanks for the vid, nice break down :) I have a question for you or anyone who's a big fan and understands balancing.. Do you think the game would be better if each unit could rank up , like in Red alert , Generals Zh etc?
if you divide your locust in 3 waves there is always locust alive, 48s cd on a 16s lifespan and with +1 range attack 4 swarms(if close enough, (all maps base to base work)) are enough to take down the base, right click them until you see the base then atack it, dont bother with minions army or other structures
is middle mouse button camera grip very bad for you guys? im a dota 2 player and i use camera grip alot and its very different from starcraft 2 camera grip. please help. thanks
good stuff. I always enjoy eyes of a progamer. I personally love the zerg viewpoint, the Serral one was ridiculous. have you done a high level protoss yet?
Pretty much, Terran is the most balance of the 3 races and with insane micro/macro, they rule the roost which results in them getting nerf and were back to square 1. Remember how reaper was turned op.
Its definitely true that noob terran players are worse then zerg and protoss but i think thats because zerg is hard to play for players who cant get above 30apm and terran is so build dependent and most people learn builds later on protoss are wierd skill wise
I agree. It's what I've said since I started SC2. I play Terran and struggle for the most part but am too stubborn to learn another race. I find that Zerg and Protoss have army compositions that can just A move and crush me, whereas my army compositions need to be micro'd to trade well.
I still remember when InControll God rest his soul saw Maru for the first time and said in to the mic: _that kid will destroy you all, look at him he doesn't give a fuck. he comes and kills you_ :D
Rooted for dark this is why I always get burrow though its relatively cheap and he could've saved swarm hosts, even maru didn't have ravens out until 15 minutes so in lower leagues you can outplay a lot of comps by getting ur roaches in there after burrowing the overextended Terran quickly notices he just lost any value from the hosts and now he's in locusts and roaches
I remember actually playing Yellow in the original SC about 13 or 14 years ago when I was really good. I played him on a WGT LT FFA vs two others. It was shocking how much better he was. I though I was good, then found out real quick I wasnt shit.
I'm not sure, but wasn't Scarlett supposed to be THE Zerg player ? I mean, she got the "Queen of Blades" title by Koreans, it means something, right ? Or am I wrong ?
@23:57 "maru understanding the capabilities of the ravens" nah that was actually terrible, he used all of his bombs to only kill a few mutas and he killed all of his own SCVs that were still alive there
He doesn't scout and expands very early without any marines. What if the enemy baneling rushes? Is that just never happening in pro sc2 because its all in? He only has 1 reaper to fight a rush.
People complained that the top tier Terrans were oppressive?? WTF? Yo. If the player out plays "Micro/Macro" you as a player that has nothing to do with Terran, Protoss, or Zerg. Simple. What do they tell people in lower ranks when they lose? "Get Good." There will always be better players. There will always be top players for each race.
they have certain map parts set to a key in the game. The game has a built in system for "macros" sort of you can have parts of the map saved to different keys or to one and press that it will travel you automatically over there.
I've always hated locusts, what would you think about locusts having a lose 1 health per second instead full health for time? That way, if you release/spawn them too far away, they will be easier to defend against.. so a host would have more of a risk-reward when attacking.. get too close and they can be picked off, but be too far away the the locusts themselves will be too weak by the time they get to attack. Prob more a lower level thing tho.. (plat player over here lol)
Its sad how far from behind zerg always has to play... What is the zerg 5min in mineral line harrass? Lings dont count seeing as how every main has a ramp and is typically always walled.
19:38 the hotkeys are not a mistake i think. having the starports additionally hotkeyed separately means 1 less keystroke to build out of a starport, 2 less if he also had barracks. (with the key for all his production buildings, he has to press that key and then tab to get to the starport)
Go Maru Go, no need to nerf Maru or terrans. :). He is just that good :). Top level play. There are many situations where he could loose. He just didn't make a big mistake :). It's pure enjoyment to watch this kind of games. Good for e-sports!

Thanks for clearing that up. Was half way through a comment until I deiced to read your comment in case this was an analytics video.
"Look at this genius move by Maru to draw the reaction from Dark"
*Dark doesn't react*
"... Genius."
Like he said, even a second can mean the difference between winning and losing a pro starcraft game. He got a half second out of Dark, which turned out to be enough to take out 5 of his drones.
i was like "eyes of programmer" wait, did i read that wrong?
same thing happened to me haha
Exactly what I read. I was like wait winter since when did you...
lol wth i did too
Haha same for me
lol i still didnt get it with this comment but until i read some more comments after

This time it's in C++
Python
maplesoft
Rewrite it in Rust
Only after reading this comment I realized it doesn't say programmer... It was the only reason i clicked on the video..
Einārs Bistrovs same here
Honestly I love bronze league heroes but eyes of a pro gamer is by far my favorite show
bronze is light fun. eye of a pro lets us see through a pro through winter. both got their places.
bronze players are retarded, hate watching that shit!
This was a really enjoyable fight.
W8, bronze league heroes still exists?
i read "eyes of a programmer"
Thats because the lack of space between the two words in progamer makes our brain think its spelt programmer
We all did
Me too
Same
This is such an underrated video. 1000% amazing.
Never played StarCraft but a lot of Warcraft and C&C, but I was fascinated about the kind of presentation you do here: like a pro sports commentator with a huge base of knowledge. Captivating!

"Maru doesen't have a bank, but he has ravens", xD.
i remember seeing his first televised game back in wings of liberty i was like haha hes 13 that's adorable he's gonna be huge one day

I thought it says "programmer" for a second.
Should bring this series back
Say a first person cast of Bun like a year ago (not named as part of this, but from this channel), actually pretty helpful
am i the only one who always reads eyes of a programmer?
No you're not.
Yep
I noticed the ex broodwar players dont make best use of camera and control groups bc thats how they use to do it.
Jaedong is a great example.
They trained in hard mode like Vegeta did.... and when the pros came and invaded sc2 we are all but hopeless until the AVATAR MASTER OF ALL RACES AND FEATURES CAN DEFEAT THEM
Don't often have time for a good Starcraft video, this was a great thanks!
I honestly think that if a pro like Maru does or does not do something, it is NOT a mistake. XD
Keep it up! You are a few of many people who call out the games, Day 9, HDHusky, and others have stopped doing it. You sir, keep it up. I enjoy your videos!
WinterStarcraft, please do this one more time! We have THE reason to do this!
23:47 those scv’s ate too much Doritos
winter please cast avilo v avilo (riddler) from wcs qualifiers
with times 16 speed
Honestly i think The Riddler threw the first match on purpose kinda instead of making 3/3 marines with his bank and that way harassing his way to victory he just sat back and annoyed Avilo, wasting his time

7:57 the music just take all my attention.....
Hello Winter,
Huge congratulations on crossing the 3k fav threshold!. Good luck to you, man
What i read: Maru the Mutalisk god. Eyes of a programmer.
I'm pretty sure that the 2 barracks, 1 factory and 1 starport is called the Destiny Cloudfist opener
12 months later, Maru is trying to figure out how to beat Serral right now
I just finished watching the Season 2 GSL vods, which came out earlier this month (June 2018). Of course the casters were all hyping up the competition the whole time, but why am I not surprised that Winter called it back in early April:

well now 3 in row boy
Holy crap I followed your terran guide and actually won!! TYTY
Great video, watched it live but you don't notice the little things until you really comb the replays!
thanks for the vid, nice break down :) I have a question for you or anyone who's a big fan and understands balancing..
Do you think the game would be better if each unit could rank up , like in Red alert , Generals Zh etc?

im kinda new to the game but it seems that a taking a base down is a massive blow
I think you forgot to mention the mech god
for the first time, winter turned the volume UP...
I was thinking he'd be wearing one of those special glasses that lets people see where his eyes are watching.
King of Multitasking
This what we want to see from you Winter! Thanks and next Protoss :) Dave
Cute how zerg lost 17 drones early, contained, and is still able to contest and be up 40+ supply all game
Where can i find the replay to download it thanks for answer, or can u upload for any server to download too
Hey that's a cool mod! Where'd you get it? The colours are so rich!
The music in the background gives me heartburn, if it werent for that this'd be a great video
is middle mouse button camera grip very bad for you guys? im a dota 2 player and i use camera grip alot and its very different from starcraft 2 camera grip. please help. thanks
It would be very nice to see playlist: "EYES OF PROGAMER", cuz as you see we like it a lot :)
good stuff. I always enjoy eyes of a progamer. I personally love the zerg viewpoint, the Serral one was ridiculous. have you done a high level protoss yet?
Pro terran player > Pro-toss and zerg, Noob protoss and zerg player > noob terran player
Pretty much, Terran is the most balance of the 3 races and with insane micro/macro, they rule the roost which results in them getting nerf and were back to square 1. Remember how reaper was turned op.
It's the player, not the race
Its definitely true that noob terran players are worse then zerg and protoss but i think thats because zerg is hard to play for players who cant get above 30apm and terran is so build dependent and most people learn builds later on protoss are wierd skill wise
mktoao so zerg is more noob friendly?
I agree. It's what I've said since I started SC2. I play Terran and struggle for the most part but am too stubborn to learn another race. I find that Zerg and Protoss have army compositions that can just A move and crush me, whereas my army compositions need to be micro'd to trade well.
*Maru makes clear mistake* "This showcases just how much of a genius Maru is by not wasting 0.5 seconds to wait for raven vision"
I love how a Maru had 2 bases over a person playing Zerg.
Great content man, really felt educational!
From this video I learned that word "Programmer" and "pro gamer" without space looks same
Anyone else read the thumbnail as "Maru the mutalisk god"?
I still remember when InControll God rest his soul saw Maru for the first time and said in to the mic: _that kid will destroy you all, look at him he doesn't give a fuck. he comes and kills you_ :D
Maru showing that terran should be playing 7 base vs Zergs 4 hatches...
Shout out for using Rainbow Road by Nanobii at 8:15
Wow cant count how many times you empty marus bag in this video
music used in the video ??
Can you hive me tips on how to learn/improve my macro and micro skill?
Bro, how u get replays..?
Rooted for dark this is why I always get burrow though its relatively cheap and he could've saved swarm hosts, even maru didn't have ravens out until 15 minutes so in lower leagues you can outplay a lot of comps by getting ur roaches in there after burrowing the overextended Terran quickly notices he just lost any value from the hosts and now he's in locusts and roaches
My choice of my map house
I remember actually playing Yellow in the original SC about 13 or 14 years ago when I was really good.
I played him on a WGT LT FFA vs two others. It was shocking how much better he was. I though I was good, then found out real quick I wasnt shit.
vid was supposed to be a breakdown of how maru won this fight, but the only thing that got broken down was the caster 😑
music mix link pls !
Birth of a new Emperor Terran? after all these years? :D
Jesus christ we all saw it you dont need to rewind 25 times..
I'm not sure, but wasn't Scarlett supposed to be THE Zerg player ? I mean, she got the "Queen of Blades" title by Koreans, it means something, right ? Or am I wrong ?
he really played like a zerg, full map control, tons of disposable expansions, sacking units just to drain attention. Micro as if playing ling bling.
Hey, Winter, can you please make a playlist with Bronze League Heroes #XX videos only, please? :)
This one has also some other stuff.
@23:57 "maru understanding the capabilities of the ravens"
nah that was actually terrible, he used all of his bombs to only kill a few mutas and he killed all of his own SCVs that were still alive there
that was his plan he was playing just like a zerg player would. Also he didn't kill his scvs those were destroyed by dark not his ravens.
He doesn't scout and expands very early without any marines. What if the enemy baneling rushes? Is that just never happening in pro sc2 because its all in? He only has 1 reaper to fight a rush.
really big map its fairly safe and he noticed the early 3rd
Winter speechless about Maru' skills @ the end :-D
People complained that the top tier Terrans were oppressive?? WTF? Yo. If the player out plays "Micro/Macro" you as a player that has nothing to do with Terran, Protoss, or Zerg. Simple. What do they tell people in lower ranks when they lose? "Get Good." There will always be better players. There will always be top players for each race.
How are they auto clicking around the map?
they have certain map parts set to a key in the game.
Cyclone is just good, well around unit, kinda beffy shield to tanks and thors, and with upgrades advantage they just burning hydralisk in few sec.
WHAT'S THE OUTRO SONG CALLED
CAPSING DOESN'T HELP
SpeCial v Korea, please!
Terran attracts skilled players
Qualified at age 13? Damn. I thought Reynor was young
Is it 2x speed?
What's wrong with your headphones? Uncomfortable?
19:38 the hotkeys are not a mistake i think. having the starports additionally hotkeyed separately means 1 less keystroke to build out of a starport, 2 less if he also had barracks.
(with the key for all his production buildings, he has to press that key and then tab to get to the starport)
Go Maru Go, no need to nerf Maru or terrans. :). He is just that good :). Top level play. There are many situations where he could loose. He just didn't make a big mistake :). It's pure enjoyment to watch this kind of games. Good for e-sports!
That is very truth comment!
Rogue beats all.
Maru did it again!
It's WESG 2017 by the way
You gotta figure out a way to make your headphones sit comfortably man. It's pretty distracting that you keep fidgeting around with the right ear piece :P
I want to be a multitasking god.
Lol maru wiped out one base of SCVs with his own anti armour missiles
best game ive seen in a long time
I subscribe to you sir.
I just started playing SC2 and am very terrible at it.
I am, at the moment, learning about the Terran uhh...Team...? Yeah that.
So far, based on what I saw, I am learning bit by bit from your vids. Thank you.
I hope to learn more and get better at the game. Not to be pro but just decent at it.
Quick question, why is there so much dislikes. What are the main criticism?
Might want to put a space between pro and gamer, mate.
Nice analysis, thank you for that, please do one about the best games of SpeCial.
Long live the terrain gods
God of multitasking sounds housewife to me tho LUL
dont be butthurt
@meaturama ...and make me a sammich!
@@syys5640 and your a normie. lord kek banish this incel to the shadow realm
I look at the in game timer and notice these crazy bastards have an entire base set up in 3 minutes. I have been trying to get to this level for some time. not as easy as they make it look. It really is skill
I can learn to win with Terran from this video?
