    Love the new video! It's one thing to read a little advertising about the x32 live card but another when some one show the application of the card. I started to consider the x32 live card after watching. Another well done, informative video. Thank you.... and $300 for the card; what you get is truly amazing.

      The X-live card has gone up in price much like everything else. They use to be under 200 bucks just a few years ago. The X-live card is great if you are recording in a live situation. For home recording they are not so great because you don't have the option to overdub. when you try to overdub it starts a new project. They are only meant for recording a band's live performance. I did a series on the X-live card that explains everything ua-cam.com/video/An4yXwY9sNQ/v-deo.html
      So before you Purchase the card ask yourself, are you are going to use it in any live situations? If not then you are better off using your PC or Mac for recording music.

    Like to say, great video my guy. Really explained an issue I’ve been having since I purchased my X32 back in 2020 and now I got it taken care of.
    Really appreciate it 100-

    Thanks for sharing. Very informative. Finally got the X32 control surface working in Reaper. I also hope that it is clear to everyone that you cannot use the Cakewalk VSTs on Mac or Linux.

      I hope it is clear to everyone too. Reaper is a great DAW. We are truly blessed as musicians to have so many choices and the tech is much better than recording studios built in the 1990s'

    Great video series!
    I want to record into my DAW (Ableton), but my laptop is on stage and my X32 is 65 feet away in our tech booth. I do have a S16 stagebox connected by AES50. Can I then connect my laptop to the S16 via usb to record into my DAW?

    What are your thoughts on using eq/comp/etc on the x32 vs plugins or daw settings? Thanks for the detailed video!

      The other videos that follow this one in this series will show you in detail how to use effects built into the X32 for recording tracks. This is good in some respects because the X32 models very expensive hardware. If you were to go out and buy all the effects modeled by the X32 you would spend a small fortune. The Lexicon reverb alone would cost a lot of money. So it is very handy to have 32 of the top effects built into the X32. It is great that we can use them with our recordings. On a side note, The Midas preamps built in the X32 are some of the best ones you will find anywhere at this price point. This makes the X32 great for music production. So if you want to add these effects in your recording you can. The only problem is that if you record with these effects they are permanent. You can't change them later.
      All that being said, there is a rule when it comes to recording. Get It Right At The Source. What this means is you don't wait to fix things later. You record the best tracks you can. I always cringe when I hear someone say we will fix it in the mix. Why wait for the mix to correct a problem when you can record an amazing track now? Some of the built-in effects like compression and EQ can resolve problems. In some cases, they can create problems too. I never record with reverb, delay, or modulation effects because it can muddy the mix or even destroy the song. I always add those effects later. The only exception to this is if I have a guitar player who uses certain pedals to create his tone. These days, there are enough free plugins out there to enable you to get better results after the tracks are recorded.
      I may use compression when I record tracks like Bass or vocals. I would only use reverb after the vocal is recorded. Sometimes I will use compression on acoustic guitar when it is recorded. That depends on the tone of the guitar and the mic being used. The only thing to remember is once you use effects in the X32 to record a track, you can't get rid of them later. Of course, I am talking about effects that are going to be mixed with the recorded signal.

    Can you make a video when using a macbook to connect to the x32

      I don't have a macbook. The god news is there are mac drivers for the X-32 and Waveform free has a version for mac. If I had the hardware I would make one for you.

    if I have the behringer x32 mixer, do I really need an audio interface to start recording?

    • @marcuscurtismusic
      @marcuscurtismusic  11 місяців тому

      Sorry for the late reply. You need an audio interface if you want to record and mix music on your computer. If you just want to use the USB thumb drive then you are al set.

    How about Logic Pro X? It's only 200 bucks. Ima gonna try to connect it to my M32R (after I figure out how to connect my favorite Lexicon reverb to it). Does Logic not work on the Music Tribe platform?

    great video, and the other three I found the other day, I am stuck at maximum 8 channels to record and select with cakewalk. Board 'setup' says 32/32,, baffled so far, day two of messing with this..

    • @marcuscurtismusic
      @marcuscurtismusic  Рік тому +1

      If you are stuck with eight channels to record with and eight channels to playback audio with then there are three things we can check to fix this. I will go through each one
      1. On the mixer hit the setup button. Select the card tab by using the arrow keys on the mixer. Make sure it says 32 in and 8 out. You can select 32 in and 32 out but for recording you will need no more than 8 for the output. If you select 32 you will just clutter up your output section. but select 32 out if you want.
      2. In cakewalk hit the P key or click on edit at the top of the screen and then click on preferences to open the Preference window. Now select the Playback and recording tab. Make sure it says ASIO where it says Driver mode. If it says WASAPI then that is the reason you can only record 8 in and 8 out. The other driver modes limit you to 8 input tracks. Only ASIO will allow you to use all 32 channels on the mixer.
      3. If all that looks OK then the final step is to select the devices tab in Preferences. Make sure every box is checked that is listed in the Behringer card. Any unchecked boxes will result in Tracks not showing up in your DAW and you won't be able to use them until they are check marked. Each box in this section represents two tracks on the mixer.

    Can you use a click track for making trax ?

    • @marcuscurtismusic
      @marcuscurtismusic  Рік тому

      Yes you can but the click track will be generated by your DAW and not the mixer. In this case cakewalk is the DAW and I have a video that shows you how to set up a custom click track. Go about 6 minutes and 15 seconds into the video for the metronome info. ua-cam.com/video/-AZZkMb-gW0/v-deo.html

      @@marcuscurtismusic Thank you for your reply ! But I use a Mac and GarageBand .

    • @marcuscurtismusic
      @marcuscurtismusic  Рік тому

      @@zelloToiletsTalk A similar approach can be used in Garage Band. That software will control the click and you can probably record a click track in Garage Band.
