- Hello and welcome to Badger Workshop. I wanted some shelves for my office. I liked the Ikea ones I had so thought I would make some shelf brackets the same but out of oak.

You never get the same satisfaction with an IKEA bracket from one you made yourself. Nice project!.
This is true Tony. Thank you
Wow! Those looked amazing! I don't have a table saw, but I'm hoping to recreate this the best way I can with my saw. Thanks!
Thank you very much. Good luck making yours
My grandparents cottage used the same brackets, but I don't ont think the 45 degree piece was trimmed off on the end like yours. Screw cups, that's a new one to me!
Beautiful.
Excellent Matt and a very nice result.
Thanks Bill
Nice brackets. I like the screw cups too.
I like it all. Well done Matt.
Thank you very much Phil
Although it is a small project , i found it very interesting . I really love the joints that you made and certainly they are much more beautiful and real wood from those ikeas sells and i m pretty sure that they are stronger . They are gorgeous and i love the colour of them !!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you. Yes i think they should be stronger than the ikea one.
Love the little detail of the brass screw thingies!! And much better than the IKEA brackets too!
Thanks David
Really nice. Keep shining dude
Bloody brilliant. Nothing wrong with this video whatsoever. Thanks muchly!
Thank you
It not just the fact that they look better. It’s also the satisfaction you get from making it yourself. 👏🏾👏🏾
Nice little project and yes, they look much better than those Ikeas ones. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Best wishes
Thank you Mark
👍👍 looks so easy when you do it matt
Thank you. They just took a little thinking about
I like the brackets Matt and the brass screw cups are spot on - thanks for posting
Thanks Andrew
Looks really nice ,going to try this myself.
Brilliant job Matt!
Thank you Chris
Much better than the IKEA ones and beautifully made
Thank you very much
Nice, quick and clean.
Never seen screw cups before. Will have to check them out.
I got them from tool station
Very nice job. Thanks for the video well done.
Thank you
Those are cool man!
Nice! Well worth the extra effort and expense in my opinion Matt. Cracking job. 👍
Thanks Jim, I am pleased with them.
Happy to see your patreon list getting longer every video you release...definitely room for more though! Keep up the good work Matt 👍
Thank you. Always room for more
Nice brackets mate looks great
Thank you very much
Very nice project and congratulations on getting all the angles right, I'm rubbish on that 😂
So am i. It took more thinking about that i usaly like
Cheers again Matt
Thank you
Hola Matt, sink your plugs below the surface of the plaster, much easier to repair the wall if you ever decide to move the shelves. I also like to leave the boards with a natural finish. Good job.
Thanks Jim
Those are bloody lovely. Nice job. Have subscribed
Really interested to see your full review of your table saw
Neat job, well explained. Keep up the good work Matt and thank you.
Thank you very much
Nice! Taking something from Ikea and then making it look nice 😎
Thank you
Like the shelf brackets
Thanks Ray
Screw cap things are a nice touch 👍
Thanks John
Excuse my ignorance but did you have to notch out the shelf to fit against the wall or did you leave a gap at the back of the self? Beautifully done brackets.
Lovely job Matt 👍. My head was hurting within those angles but think the penny dropped in the end! Either way, they look great.
Thank you. My head was hurting to
Badger Workshop Does the grooving blade make a big difference vs a general purpose blade?
It has a flat tooth so if you are not cutting all the way through the wood, it leaves a nice finish.
Hmmmm seen them in IKEA, the Mått Brøcket, look great 👍👍👍
Haha I just need to make a million of them new
Look much better than "off the shelf"stuff Matt!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 I'll get me coat!
I wash i had thought of that Alan
Great little project. Thanks for sharing. I tried something similar. But my skills are not good enough (yet) to have the angles perfectly at 45 degrees.
You might call it rustic but I'm afraid they would rustically collap. I must keep on trying.
We all just keep trying and get better all the time
Nice video looks good
Thank you
That's exactly what I have in mind for my shop haha
I am plesed with them
Awesome!
Thank you
Great video! thank you
Thank you
Most beatiful, too bad I purchased this morning metal ones, although I might throw them away.
Interesting video there Matt. Can I just ask a quick question, how accurate do you find your mitre saw angle cuts with the dewalt? Just something I’m thinking about for the future and would appreciate your thoughts. Cheers, Leo
Thank you. The Dewalt is a very accurate saw.
hey matt trying to find some packing tape seem to remember you did a video on the stuff what do you use my stuff wont stick properly thank's
I don't think it was me. Rag n down did a video about sending packages. This is what I use and it sticks well

DIY is expensive. Much cheaper to buy, but you’ll never match the quality of hand made carpentry with quality hardwood. Nice job 👍
Excellent! I would much rather see something nice and handmade than something from IKEA.
I expect just loading up the shelves might cause them to twist back into alignment, without needing any planing.
Thanks Alan. Yes that might work
What’s wrong with products from IKEA? Apart from providing employment for people all over the world, IKEA have enabled many families to furnish their houses with reasonably priced and functional furniture, not only here in Sweden but in many countries worldwide. So what’s the big deal?
@@geeborg6912 Personal choice. Buy from IKEA if you want to, but if you have the skills to make something better then do that if you want to. I didn't say there was anything wrong with Ikea.
@@alanmuddypaws3865 “ I would much rather see something nice and handmade than something from IKEA” - If that’s not a disparaging comment, I don’t know what is…..
@@geeborg6912 If you don't know what a disparaging comment is then let me furnish you with an example - "IKEA is shit and you are a dick!". But I didn't put any such thing in my original post, which was not disparaging at all.
Can you give details of that blade please Matt? I'm here in Brum and can't find similar and I seeth when I see our US cousins using dado sets! If you can make those brackets ad-infintum you could give IKEA a run for their money!
There is a link under the video to the tools i use
@@Badgerworkshop DUH! Stupid me! Trying to multitask and completely forgetting..."SHOW MORE" Thanks Matt. Have you tried finger-joints with this blade?
I have not yet as i have a router jig for vutting them but im sure it would work great
They look brilliant, mate. 👍
Are you going to varnish the shelves like the brackets?
Awesome job. 👌
Thanks Bill. I think i will leave the shevels natural for now
Nice job, although I don't think there is anything intrinsically wrong in buying stuff from IKEA. There seems to be a sub-genre of woodworkers who like to take IKEA furniture and 'upgrade' it for their own purposes, I've seen a couple of videos about that.
Yes Ikea hacks are a big thing
Hmm, I'd kinda be inclined to leave the boards as they are 🤔🤔
dont have to be that fancy, but DIY-ing these instead of buying is good practice, nice touch with the brass too :D
Thank you
Metal gold circles, where can I buy it?

They look good, the Ikea brackets are probably made from cardboard 👍 😊
Thank you. I am tempted to cut one open and look
I use those IKEA ones all the time. I'm looking at two on the wall of my living room now. I feel ashamed...
Dont worry i have them on my workshop wall
Yes you can buy from ikea, but YOU ARE A MAKER, You cannot compare the price of Ikea against your costs.
You had the wood , you had the glue you had the saws, the only thing you may have bought were the brass insets. You cannot divide the individual costs.
You can only say, bought wood, bought glue, bought brass, bought table saw, bought clamps, bought drill, bought screws, bought stain, bought shed, paid electricity..........tell me when to stop,
You built some shelf supports ACE ACE ACE
Yes if you didn't have the above you would have gone to IKEA and borrowed drill, borrowed drill bits, borrowed screwdriver/ drill driver,
Great video good brackets
.
Thank you
Ikea brackets are too cheap, must be a robot making them...
Im sure it is
