Hey Stig! The trash bin position on the R1 door. This is probably due to a trash bin not being accessed during flight but being used during normal operations and just to use all space in the AC. Could you imagine if this is where they put the portable O2 bottles or First Aid Kit. The big drawback I can see is if this became a potential fire hazard. @@philippebesnard3677 then it’s an absolute pleasure to have you here Philip, thank you so much for all your hard work and thank you so much for being here and enjoying the adventures with me.
Former aircraft mechanic, and retired model maker, designer, and prototype builder, with engineering background as well.. I fully sgree with you on consulting mechanic during engineering/design phases. I know from experience as a former airplane fixer that mechanics have lots of empirical based useful knowledge/wisdom. Engineers spent a large portion of their time pleasing and compromise with designers; mechanics should be in the loop too. They may offer practical information that settles disputes between designers and engineering issues. Sometimes the poor engineer bows to the designer, left only with the dilemma of how to find physical space over pragmatic usage matters.
This takes me back to technology that was built back in the 1960s in the 1970s, we take a look at that product and we see how long it lasts. The reason it last that long because it was built by engineers that were actually hands-on, not sitting behind a desk. Practicality and design were Sitting in the same room talking to each other
My dad was an A&P and I just got my 8610-2 experience letter from the FSDO ! Wish he was alive to see it but I remember going to his job and wanting to Fly. Now I’m a pilot and mechanic.
We got those screens on the planes all the way back in Suriname, South America! When American used to fly there, at least.. glad to see that we had a “rare” aircraft there.
One of my favorite parts of flying is getting to talk to the planes I fly because they each have their own little quirks and personalities. The fleet at my school is will maintained thanks to our MX shop. They know each tail as well as we do, and one of our AMTs has been known to sing to them.
I just found this channel by chance. Its the first time ive seen an aviation channel designated for mechanics. Accidents & spotting is more common. Thank you for creating these videos
This one was full of great nuggets - even some of the dad jokes. 😂 Happy New Year, Stig! I’m always excited to see your videos pop up in my TikTok, UA-cam or IG feeds - it’s 50 minutes of therapy for us aviation nerds. Thanks again for all you do. I fly your airline almost exclusively and every time I board one of the birds, it makes me feel even safer knowing people like you and your partners are wrenching on them.
Thank you so much for being here Jared, I appreciate your kind words and you being here. And I also thank you for choosing my carrier, you are the person that puts food on my table and I will keep you safe in sky’s.
Happy New Year, Stig!! Thanks for your great work sharing mechanics work in the aviation industry. We are the unsung heroes! No glory but so much pride! 👍
I thought I enjoyed aviation before but after watching your video's i'm loving it even more. Thanks for the many lessons and taking us on this journey!!!! Keep doing what you are doing, the absolute best!!!!

I love your videos. I geek out on the nerdy technical details you throw in. Also the fact that you recognized someone that's been with the company for so long and know who they are. That's the good stuff!!!
Cool fact regarding that special Plane Livery. The Pandas Livery is a 1-3 plane, with a total order of 10 coming. The Pandas featured on the Livery are representative of the 8 pandas that the airline adopted and sponsored care of from the Chengdu giant panda research base and breeding program in China. The Sichuan province of china is also considered the home of the giant panda, so the Sichuan airlines panda livery is also representative of their namesake. The Whole interior of the panda livery a350’s are all decked with panda themes too, And when the panda line (direct flight from Beijing to Chengdu, China) was first introduced, the Air stewards/stewardesses would have panda based costumes to wear for the whole flight too.
Mr Stig: thank you for a very nice video. Wishing you a wonderful year 2024 and a lot of success in our beloved profession. My like today: #770. Have a good one. We will keep in touch.
What you have achieved throughout 2023?? You and your teams wealth of knowledge and hard work on all those aircraft types allows loved ones to be together all year round, business deals to be done globally, people to have their vacations, most people think of the pilots alone for achieving that but forget without people like you that would be impossible
Thank you so much for saying that, it means the world to me and it warms my heart. I will pass this to my comrades that work so effortlessly to make it worthy. We do this for the love of Aviation. We do this to make sure you are safe, not only you, but our families as well, we put our families on these airplanes. We would never dispatch anything that’s unsafe.
The queen of the sky was one of the very first aircraft I ever flown on back in the early 70s. I remember they had the 747 and went back-and-forth from New York multiple times a day. I miss that aircraft.
My love for planes has never been so high since I found your vids... These planes aren't just mechanical pieces of art, but I can't stop thinking about the software side of them too. If only the software was publicly available for studying :(
Unfortunately, the software is very proprietary and manufacturers will never show that kind of stuff. Neither will I because I do not disclose that kind of information.
@@StigAviation I completely understand. I know this one guy (well, on the internet) who used to write that software and he would never talk in details if he ever did mention his job. They just don't mess around heh
I do the same job you do except i work for the "enemy." I love watching you videos on my off days because I'm a nerd, new guy, and watch the little things you do so i can learn. Happy new years! Keep the passion strong
Thank you so much for being here Tyler, keep up the good work, no matter what company you work for. At the end of the day we are still brothers, because we are both mechanics. Happy new year my friend.
Happy New Year! And thank you very much for all the great videos you make. I have been flying since I was 6 yrs old and I have had a lot of questions that you have been answering little by little and getting to see things up close that I have always wanted to see. Thank you so much again!
Hey Stig, gooood morning from Brazil - São Paulo. First i'd like to thanks for your vídeos and The way you share so many knowledge to us. I also work in an airline Company and It is so good to see how you do your work with proud, Joy and hapiness every single day.
Stig, I liked your comments on Engineers and design errors. Reminds me of a story that we studied in a class about human errors. It seems that the Engineers at McDonnell Douglas were working on a new improved design for the cockpit windows. They were supposed to greatly improve the impact resistance of the windows. They set up an air cannon set the pressure for about 400mph and fired a turkey at the window. It shattered the window into a million pieces. They tried it repeatedly with different air speeds and always the same effect. So, back to the drawing boards. Finally, a young engineer asked the crucial question, "You are thawing these turkeys out before each test aren't you?"
@@StigAviation No problem. Thank you for making the content you do. I was and still am into trains, cars, planes. Anything that transports people I love everything about it. Everyone was impressed with my knowledge as a kid. I was very lucky my Mom encouraged my hobbies and interests. She worked for a bank. One of her clients was financing remodeling of his house and he worked for Evergreen International as a test pilot and mechanic on their 747 fleet. My Mom and him arranged a day for me to go with him to work at Santa Barbara Airport. On that day I was lucky to see them taking an ex-Pam Am 747 (747GE) and changing into the test bed for the GE90. I think it’s a museum piece now. From that day on I knew I was going to work in Aviation. Long story short I ended up getting a rare tumor in my brain, sinuses, and spine at 18. I was told they are invasive and couldn’t remove them. I considered myself very fortunate I was able to have a short airline career, but, by 26 I could no longer work. When I found your videos, words cannot describe it. I can say they really help me with my spirts. I am now trapped in a bed not able to do much. I am also in a lot of pain. So for however long your videos are, I am transported back to better times. So I am very grateful for them. Sometimes when we do something, it may seem like a small act. But these little acts can mean the world to someone else you may have never met. To me that’s the amazing testament to aviation, it brings us together and to see the world and people. By doing that we can change our perception of our world through first hand experiences that tv or the internet can’t quite capture. Stay amazing! Wishing you to reach your goals and beyond in 2024!
Thank you so much for sharing that with me, it means a lot to me and I will continue to bring you joy of Aviation for as long as I can. I want you to keep those spirits, high and soaring just like these airplanes. I wish you a beautiful new year. It’s an honor to have you here.
Only found you in December Stig but have subscribed to avoid any disappointments. I always thought the pilot walk round had an air of obligation to it. Seemingly casual when passenger safety is the driver. Now I have seen you do your round displaying the intricate knowledge of settings and systems, reassurance reigns supreme. Don't undersell the critical job you do. See you on the next one mate. Onya Pal. Mike. H N Y!
First of all thank you very much for being here, Mike. And yes, indeed aircraft maintenance is very much in the shadows of Aviation. We do a lot more than people know. It’s not just pilots that make it safe, we are there before the pilots and we are there after the pilots. We are always there to make sure the aircraft is safe. Thank you for watching and I appreciate you.
Welcome david. I do apologize for some of the repetitive nature of the videos, but it’s my daily activities at work. Sometimes I encounter new things, new challenges, but most time it’s routine, maintenance and preventative maintenance. I try to educate along the way of the components and systems you see. Don’t hesitate to ask questions if you see something that interest you

I've done mechanical and electrical work alI my life - aviation, marine, power, some auto, you name it. And l can sure see why he gave up auto mechanics to get into aviation. In EVERY other industry there’s never time to do the job right but always time to do it twice. It's depressing but it is was it is.
But back in the day aircraft jobs were scarce and layoff's frequent. FinalIy got tired of that and went into power. Never looked back. Best thing l ever did.
I am working for MTU Aero Engines in Munich, Germany, as you might know we are one of the main supplier for P&W. I use your videos to educate more in terms of the whole plane. Did you know that the V2500 currently has its 50th birthday? 🙂
Idk if someone mentioned it already, but that BA 777 is a special 1 of 1 livery (and only the 2nd special livery BA uses; excluding tail designs) created to fly the UK’s delegation to the Great Festival of Creativity in Shanghai. The art was made by Chinese artist Masha Ma and pretty sure that’s her signature on the end above G-YMML.

Thank you so much Jawanza I appreciate your kind words. And yes indeed I do love this aviation with all my heart and soul
Just discovered this channel and it's fascinating.
Welcome and enjoy. Don’t hesitate to ask questions
I've been "Customisation Account Director" within Airbus for more than 10 years (I'm now retired) and mainly in charge of Chinese Airlines (one of my colleague was and still in charge of American Airline). I was still in Airbus when I managed the Panda external livery of A330 Sichuan Airlines which is based in Chengdu China.
I love your videos, even I've been in aeronautic for more than 35 years 😁
@@philippebesnard3677 then it’s an absolute pleasure to have you here Philip, thank you so much for all your hard work and thank you so much for being here and enjoying the adventures with me.
@@StigAviation My pleasure.
You got the best of both worlds my friend, a pilot and a mechanic is a rare thing to see. One makes you better at the other.
It's was good information about in now 😊might be going back to school for It's 🤔
Glad it was helpful!
I love the positive feelings you always show. You are a very positive person!
Smile. 😊. Life is good 👍
We got those screens on the planes all the way back in Suriname, South America! When American used to fly there, at least.. glad to see that we had a “rare” aircraft there.
It was a nice change of scenery for sure. But once the winter season ends we probably won’t see these on the west coast
One of my favorite parts of flying is getting to talk to the planes I fly because they each have their own little quirks and personalities. The fleet at my school is will maintained thanks to our MX shop. They know each tail as well as we do, and one of our AMTs has been known to sing to them.
I talk to my birds all the time. Got to treat it with love and respect… just like a woman 👌
I just found this channel by chance. Its the first time ive seen an aviation channel designated for mechanics. Accidents & spotting is more common. Thank you for creating these videos
It’s my pleasure. Thank you for being here.
Thanks for all the great content, Stig!
Thank you very much Edman I appreciate you being here
This one was full of great nuggets - even some of the dad jokes. 😂
Happy New Year, Stig!
Better not forget the prop wash @Stig.
Thank you so much for being here Jared, I appreciate your kind words and you being here. And I also thank you for choosing my carrier, you are the person that puts food on my table and I will keep you safe in sky’s.
They are living things. Each with their own distinct personality.
Yes indeed they are.
Starting A&P school next week, these videos are so inspiring
Keep up the good studies, ask questions, and work hard, I’m here to help you, so don’t hesitate to ask questions
Happy New Year, Stig!!
Thanks for your great work sharing mechanics work in the aviation industry.
We are the unsung heroes! No glory but so much pride! 👍
The pride comes within us. It comes in a form of camaraderie between our colleagues. We honor each other, even though the world does not see us.
I thought I enjoyed aviation before but after watching your video's i'm loving it even more. Thanks for the many lessons and taking us on this journey!!!! Keep doing what you are doing, the absolute best!!!!
Thank you for being here Emili
Stig, thanks for sharing your expertise and enthusiasm in the work that you do.
My pleasure! Thank you for watching
That livery is the BA "Great Festival of Creativity in Shanghai" Boeing 777-236ER G-YMML... Unveiled in 2015, G-YMML is one of only two British Airways aircraft to be painted in a special livery, now that it has retired all its Boeing 747-400s. It was created specially to fly the UK’s delegation into Shanghai’s Great Festival of Creativity.
The livery features intricate Western impressionist art combined with Chinese ink-and-wash paint techniques. Designed by Chinese fashion designer Masha Ma, it depicts interwoven bamboo stems and roses, both extremely important symbols in Chinese and British culture respectively.
Wonderful, this is the information I was looking for. Thank you so much.
Can’t wait to start my training to become an aircraft technician. I begin on Monday the 15th January!
I think you’ll do great. Don’t hesitate to ask questions. I’m here to help
I love your videos. I geek out on the nerdy technical details you throw in. Also the fact that you recognized someone that's been with the company for so long and know who they are. That's the good stuff!!!
I am glad you’re enjoying it Eric. Thank you for watching.
This is absolutely fantastic information, thank you so much Michael
Mr Stig: thank you for a very nice video.
Wishing you a wonderful year 2024 and a lot of success in our beloved profession.
My like today: #770.
Have a good one. We will keep in touch.
Thank you very much Carlos. Happy new year to you. Wishing you all the best.
Gotta love that 747! Happy New Year Stig!
Thank you very much same to you
The queen of the sky was one of the very first aircraft I ever flown on back in the early 70s. I remember they had the 747 and went back-and-forth from New York multiple times a day. I miss that aircraft.
Forever and always it will be the queen of the sky. One of The most iconic airplanes ever built.
It’s my pleasure Andy, if you see something that peaks your interest, don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll be more than happy to explain.
Hey Stig, gooood morning from Brazil - São Paulo. First i'd like to thanks for your vídeos and The way you share so many knowledge to us. I also work in an airline Company and It is so good to see how you do your work with proud, Joy and hapiness every single day.
Thank you so much Paul, it’s a pleasure to have you here. Thank you for the beautiful words.
😅😂😂 sometimes the simplest questions can solve the most difficult problems. 👌 it’s good to think outside of the box.
I remember when your hanger was new. I visited and was in awe that 4 747's could fit inside. there were a couple in it that day
The good old days.
About the British Airways 777-200 you mentioned 40:30 . The name of the livery is called “Great Festival of Creativity in Shanghai”.
Thank you very much for letting me know, I appreciate you
@@StigAviation No problem.
Flying American on Tuesday out of Portland Oregon. Nice to know guys like you keep these birds healthy! Love the videos. Thanks for putting these out!
Thank you very much and have a beautiful flight.
It’s interesting that the B787 doesn’t use bleed air for pressurization, I guess you learn something new every day
Every day is a school day, even for me.
These are suuuuper cool. Pls keep doing them!
Will do. Thank you for watching
New subscriber! This is an addicting channel. While repetitive at times, it's never dull!
Welcome david. I do apologize for some of the repetitive nature of the videos, but it’s my daily activities at work. Sometimes I encounter new things, new challenges, but most time it’s routine, maintenance and preventative maintenance. I try to educate along the way of the components and systems you see. Don’t hesitate to ask questions if you see something that interest you
Hey @Stig happy new year to you and I hope 2024 turns out great for you. You’re right water ingestion in an engine is not a problem however Ice is a different story please say hi 👋 to my good friend Jerry M for me I miss working on aircraft
Happy new year, my friend, wishing you all the best. And you are absolutely correct with the ice congestion, thankfully, those engine blades are very strong and can break up majority. I just hope they don’t fly through any kind of massive hail.
YOURE DOING GREAT WORK FOR RECRUITMENT OF AVIATION PROFESSIONALS
Thank you so much. I’m glad I can help and give back to the industry that gave me so much.
Even tho i came across your channel couple months ago
I still appreciate what you have done throughout the years and
the past year you're right life is full
Of obstacles but one day i heard someone saying
Life is to short to take it seriously.
This and every time i watch your videos and you teaching us along the way is just means a lot
Its hard to find a job where im currently but if one day i got lucky
And got hired in US airport as a ramp agent I'll definitely come to you and shake your hand:)
You have a wonderfull day sir
I hope that day comes, and I will be more than happy to shake your hand, and I’ll even get you a cup of coffee. Thank you for being here. I appreciate you.

Blinker fluid. Love it! That's what makes your videos so enjoyable to watch. Love those Stig jokes!
Me and my goofy jokes 😅 Thank you for watching Steve. I appreciate you.
For someone who is a nervous flyer, i think what you are doing is educational and promotes safety in the aviation industry. Hope these videos keep going 👌
It’s my absolute pleasure, and I’m very happy that I can help you conquer your fear of flying.
Outstanding every time I watch it. 😊

Wow Mr Stig. Nicely done.
Great positive energy and inspiration.

Happy New Year Stig! I hope 2024 brings you much happiness and peace 🙏
Thank you so much and I wish you a happy new year as well. Nothing but the best for you and your family.
I've done mechanical and electrical work alI my life - aviation, marine, power, some auto, you name it. And l can sure see why he gave up auto mechanics to get into aviation. In EVERY other industry there’s never time to do the job right but always time to do it twice. It's depressing but it is was it is.
Well, the whole point of Aviation is to do it right the first time. Can’t afford for things to go wrong.
These long form vids are the beeeeest. I subbed cuz of these videos
Thank you very much. It’s a pleasure to have you here.
But back in the day aircraft jobs were scarce and layoff's frequent. FinalIy got tired of that and went into power. Never looked back. Best thing l ever did.
As long as you were happy in your career, that’s the most important thing.
A great morning is a morning where you wake up and see a new video from stig! Happy holidays!
Happy holidays! And thank you 🙏
I am working for MTU Aero Engines in Munich, Germany, as you might know we are one of the main supplier for P&W. I use your videos to educate more in terms of the whole plane. Did you know that the V2500 currently has its 50th birthday? 🙂
Yes, I do know that, it’s actually one of my favorite engines. The V2500 holds a very special place in my heart.
@@StigAviation We do anything to keep 'em flying for at least another 25 years!

Thank you very much, I’m glad you enjoyed it. And I do enjoy this flashlight very much.
Beautiful !!!! As usual
Thank you sir
Well deserved!
Thank you 🙏
Idk if someone mentioned it already, but that BA 777 is a special 1 of 1 livery (and only the 2nd special livery BA uses; excluding tail designs) created to fly the UK’s delegation to the Great Festival of Creativity in Shanghai. The art was made by Chinese artist Masha Ma and pretty sure that’s her signature on the end above G-YMML.
Indeed, they have mentioned it, but I thank you for reiterating and telling me once again.
ahh sorry for repeating what’s already been said, i get overly excited when i see special livery’s especially ones i kinda know. i just recently stumbled upon your channel and love your incredible passion for your work and career. Coming from someone who’s still searching for his own passion, it’s always refreshing and inspiring to watch your videos! Sorry again for the bother
A fantastic video to end the year on. I’m so glad I found your channel and I look forward to many more videos from you in the new year. You do a great job!
Oh yeah, and keep doing the dad jokes! Your humor is one of the best parts of each of you video’s!
Thank you Jon. Much appreciated and happy new year to you and your family
