I work in healthy restaurant and we make our açaí blend with chickpeas, frozen fruit, and oat milk, and it’s pretty great!! The chickpeas make the bowl so thick and filling, and you can’t taste them at all when their blended with the fruit.
If you guys see how we brazilians eat the ice cream/smoothie type açaí you guys would go crazy with the calories 🤣🤣. But the real açaí in Amazon we eat with shrimp, rice, beans, tapioca etc.
As a Brazilian myself, I’ve never ever ever tried or heard anything about açaí with rice, beans, let alone with shrimp. That’s new for me and really interesting/different. That’s really a regional thing, and the ways Brazilians eat/drink açaí may vary by the region and state! Brazil is huge! I’m from São Paulo, so I love smoothie or açaí desserts with fruits, berries, chocolate etc. We are more a “sweet”version of açaí in São Paulo.
@@2eNNeAlanna if you search it up about how people consume açaí in the north of Brazil you will see that they consume that with salty food instead of condensed milk and etc. It’s really interesting

@@makejihyomainvocalistagain9217 hmm...actually for diabetics I don't think this would be a good idea. Fiber actually decreases the rate at which sugar entries the blood stream which prevents your blood glucose from spiking. If you're diabetic, you actually might want to consider a vegetarian diet. It's lower in sugar and calories, so even if you're insulin resistant, your body can keep up
You can totally eat this OP, it just depends on your exercise and what medications you use to lower your BGL. if you have a dietician, definitely chat with them about it, they can help you eat the things you want in a way that’s going to work for your needs. And ignore the reversal talk, even if you go off meds and manage through diet and exercise, you’d be in remission, but still a diabetic.
Best Açaí is sweetened with guarana syrup! Thick and with tiny tapioca beads on top! Nothing more! Just perfect! This is the Rio de Janeiro’s best! Ideal after the gym or as a meal!
I eat acai as a diabetic (type 2) and still use banana. I do use plain yoghurt as well, to bump up the protein, and I add milk for more protein if I want it thinner. Adding nuts and nut betters can also bump the protein and fats enough to help mitigate the blood sugar spike, it just depends on whether I’ve exercised on not, really. If I go for a walk, I can tolerate more carbs.
Perhaps not from eating the fruit, but blending it up reduces the fiber and speeds up the absorption into the blood stream causing quick sugar spikes. It’s better to eat your fruit than drink it.
Thank you for pointing this out. The açaí and blended foods fad in general are spiking people’s blood sugars when they thing they are being healthy. Plus, no one is chewing their foods and their jawlines are paying the price 😬
@@deedee2218 No worries. For the Chia pudding you can mix the chia with any milk of your choice. Chia - 2 tablespoons Milk (of your choice) - 1 cup Honey - 1 or 2 tbsps depends how sweet you want it. Or you can use dates (blend them with the milk) Mix it all and you can add more milk if you want the pudding to be less thick. The chia will double the size in 3-5 mins so you can see if it needs more milk. If you are going to mix it with something else, like a smoothie, then I wouldn't add the honey. I like to use less sugar if possible but up to you.
I don't understand why you need to eat acai in the first place. So many "superfoods" come from far away - depending where you live in the world, of course - and there would be locally grown replacements available. You could just use blueberries without the acai. You could use linseed instead of chia seed. Of course, you CAN also use the hyped foods, but if you then have difficulty to use them in recipes, maybe they are not really ideal for your or these recipes? Why not make a bowl of blueberry yoghurt, locally grown nuts, blueberries and strawberries, maybe with some flaxseeds? Might be equally healthy and have less of a carbon footprint, depending on your location.
Did you also know that chia seeds isn’t healthy?💀 eating things in moderation is fine. açaí bowls is healthy, depends how you customize it. They don’t add sugar in playa bowls. The only sugar is their fruit.
What if you make it with just blended milk and strawberry’s berries because I made that and it definitely wasn’t super nutritious but I wouldn’t say it was unhealthy. Although I’ll probably try some yogurt too
I just had an acai bowl. It was blended with coconut water, frozen banana, frozen mango, frozen pineapple, and frozen, topped with chia seed pudding, banana, strawberry, agave, and gluten free granola. Is that a big sugar spike?
It’s so sad that here in America, açaí is very expensive so most stores have to blend it with too many other fruits. It just ruins the flavor for me 😭😭
I love bananas so much I would eat it everyday but it would be so much for me as a diabetic if I ate it often. But yeah I would prefer the banana and honey.
Doesn’t anyone else think it’s kind of weird and problematic that this video is calling out bananas and honey? Those are whole foods that are fine in a balanced diet.
Bananas and honey, if used too much can spike blood sugar (not good for diabetics and prediabetics) and can also be problematic for those with candida, cancer or sibo.

I am not a peanut butter fan but you gotta melt some peanut butter and honey then drizzle it on top… and add almond slices. 🤤
I can honestly say that I've never had an acai bowl! I'm type 2 diabetic and trying to eat healthier. I'm definitely gonna make this!❤

Acai berry is super food.
How much sugar does it contain?
What did you mixed with the plain yogurt? Berries? To get the purple color
I love açaí bowls!!!!
Your body is actually able to process natural sugars. No one gets diabetes from eating too much fruit.
That's interesting and you know what that makes sense.
This is for the ones who can't eat any type of sugar or need to reduce it. I have PCOS and I need a diet low in carbs and sugars to manage it.

Where you go buy your yogurt jars with spoons? Do you have a link
Dairy holds a lot of sugar I would suggest plain non dairy version.

Trader Joe’s has acai packages ( no sugar )
