That's really helpful, Jason; ty. One question: I wish to save everything on my SD card in the process. That doable or do I need to copy the SD card before the factory wipe... and then reinstall the copy?
Sounds like you are good. Back everything up, then remove the SD card BEFORE you factory reset it

You are welcome. I don't think the back comes off the A21. Here are a few tips that might help. 1. Make sure your charger works - charge something else make sure it charges. 2. Borrow a newer charger from a friend that has more power - some older chargers just don't give enough "juice" sometimes 3. make sure your charging port is clear of dust or grime. If it is dirty, use a very small sewing needle to clear it out - GENTLY - don't break the delicate electronics inside the port. If none of that works, find a local independent electronics repair shop (they usually can fix just about anything and won't try to SELL you something new) Good luck to you ! ! !
Thanks Jason, but it doesn't work. By this technique it still remembers the prior email used and it wants the password for that email, which I don't have. The phone was used by my wife a couple of years ago as a work phone. She left that company, waited for them to want the phone back, they didn't, and it has been sitting in a drawer. We are iPhone users but I thought I would see what an android was like. So, I tried to get it going again. She no longer remembers her old password. So, what I really want is to totally wipe the whole thing and start over. Also, we are not Verizon users, which the phone was originally set up for. I don't know if that plays a role. I took out the SIM card and don't intend to use it as an actual phone, just want to put it on our network and see how Android apps work. Any thoughts? I've tried going through the entire set up process but it keeps wanting the old password and I can't get past that. I might just throw it away, but it seems like a waste.
If you have left the device with the "device needs password to power off" then you have to let it sit until the battery runs all the way out. Then plug it in to charge. Only charge to 5% and go thru the steps in the vid. If you don't get it to the android recovery menu, then let it run out of battery again and try again. Best of Luck - Jason

Not my area of expertise. 1. Check your photo filter settings. 2. check your display settings and make sure you didn't turn blue filter 3. ask google. 4 good luck 5. have a nice day

You probably just need to slow down. Follow the instructions exactly. Or have a friend family member or co-worker watch you to make sure you are doing it correctly. Good luck.
It didn't work for me because when I want to turn it off it asks for my password and I don't have it 😢😢
Let me try to explain the bypass for that. You'll need to hold the power off combo of buttons - volume down and power (side button). You will hold for many seconds and as soon as you feel the phone power off, then FOLLOW the instructions in this video. It might take a couple of times to get the timing down, but that is how you do it when it requires a pin to power off. You might get lucky where the "restart" option is not locked by the pin - then you have to restart and time the Factory Reset process before the phone starts to power back on.
