My biggest mistake was thinking that my island had to be this extravagant aesthetic piece like all the dream addresses. They’re great for getting ideas but I used to beat myself up for not having the most breathtaking layout and decorations.
I was the same. I'm still convinced there's nothing I can or have done that wasn't done already, but learned that's not necessarily a bad thing. I learned it's not about layout and items, it's about creating a place that we're comfortable spending our time in.
Guys, I was also that way, but you've changed my mind, The New Island I'm Making will not Hinge on Details, I'm gonna Use what I Have to Make my Island look Cool, And not just think everything should be amazing looking
Imo those types of islands are so tacky, like the one that are filled with stuff to the point you cant even move around freely.. like its ugly and annoying haha you can even see his character getting stuck multiple time while walking around the island 😬
I am the same, I want ideas as I’m not that creative but get really overwhelmed when I visit an amazing island. I try not to let it bother me but it’s so hard!
@@hkenny50 Personally as long as people love the island they're making it pretty much doesn't matter since it's their game in my opinion. It's stupid decorating an island in a way because you think that's what other people like or getting mad at yourself because you can't build like them when you're not them. If more people just built something for themselves they could surprise themselves by creating the most unique and pretty island in it's own unique style appreciated by many.
I pretty much like all other islands (if they look like they actually took basic effort but i don't really care what "core" it is), but i personally cant stand fairycore because it always ends up looking the same as all the others and i'm overwhelmed by all the pink, and i dont like islands that have random junk laying about like they were cleaning out their storage and instead of getting rid of the excess they rearranged it to be "normcore". Oh and i despise those islands that have a lot of ugly and random images on their custom codes all around, it looks hella tacky like having an eyesore flag with their favorite steamer's face on it, drawings of villagers like Judy's face all over their island, and bold bright ugly images of obnoxious things like stars, hearts and stuff that look like it appeals to 5 year olds. I know, different taste but god i can't stand looking at islands like those. I like kidcore, i'm not talking about kidcore because they're known for being bright with hearts and stars, no they're exempt because they take effort and the art is great in their codes, i'm talking about random things for the hell of having them and no thought into the arrangement like "here's 300 Judys everywhere!!!" o.0.... And cottage and springcore feels overrepresented in my opinion, i don't hate them i just get sick of yet another island in their style being showed off.
I don’t think giving your villagers odd clothing items is such a big deal. I gave Audie a shower cap when I first started playing and crack up every time she wears it 😂
I make myself wear whatever clothes I am gifted from my villagers. It's kinda silly, but I love it.
About villager homes: Yes, you can totally talk to Isabelle and have their houses set up to the way they usually are. I did that with the ones I had.

How do you do that?
@Mits@ It's something that can only be done when you have the DLC and a certain amount of progress in it, but when you talk to Isabelle about a resident, one of the options you can select is "The way their home looks". That will instantly change it to the default for the villager instead of the starter house.

my sister gave sherb a blue do-rag, i gave him a blue raincoat, and my mom gave him the blue silly glasses. definitely an interesting sight when he wears all of them together 😭
when I first started, I ate some fruit because I could and then I broke all my rocks accidentally. I had to wait for them all to spawn back before I could get the iron ore I needed to get further in the game. I ended up using some nook miles and getting some iron ore that way but I didn’t have very many nook miles yet.

Bob's Gang! A random bit of advice I put on the community post about catching wasps. If you shake your trees directly from the front, you will automatically turn to where the wasp nest has dropped so you can just swing the net. Took me a while to realise this since I was terrible at catching them but it works everytime! Get source of money everyday especially if Flick is visiting.
This ^^^. I recently picked up this tip. Game Changer. Also, limiting my hardwood trees to exactly the # of wasps + coins + furniture and plant them close. Then make sure to axe the bell bag trees for insects to grow as after you take the bells off the trees they turn into hardwood trees (thus taking your tree count out of balance).
It's also a good idea to have your net out when you do it, you're pretty much guaranteed to catch all the wasps that way.

Oh, yeah, I never sell my Insects, Fish, or weeds to Nook's Cranny, just to the respective NPCs who pay out more. Even if it means I have less money for longer.
I find it's better to be at a diagonal angle from the front, as you guarantee which side the hive will fall to.
Here are some tips that could be useful for people based on my own experience, but please remember that there is no wrong way to play the game ! These are just tiny pieces of advice that can make your life easier, but ultimately, you do you !
1- If you know you plan on breeding flowers bc you wanna have all the colors, it’s best if you do it before you start decorating. You’ll need a lot of space !
2- To prevent flowers from growing and spreading past a certain point (if you have a garden or something), you can use a transparent custom design and put it on the ground (like a path, except it’s transparent so it’ll look like there’s nothing) next to the flower. It won’t spread. Paths that aren’t grass or dirt also work
3- Don’t pressure yourself finding the best spot for your villagers’ homes right away. You may change your mind when you get to decorating. To avoid having to pay a lot of bells to constantly move them around, you can put them on the beach temporarily until you found a good spot for them
4- Spend some time doing your NookMiles+ daily goals, even if it’s just the 5 first ones (bc the amount of miles they give is often doubled). It’s a good way to grind Nook Miles, as those challenges are typically fairly easy to do, and they might help you achieve other time-consuming goals (like fishing 5,000 fish) in the long run
5- The best gifts to give your villagers are (assessed) fossils. They count as expensive furniture, but they’re too big for them to display it in their house, so if you don’t have HHP and don’t know what to give your villagers, it’s a great option. Bonus fact : if you want your villagers to have a wreath on their door, you can craft one and give it to them. They’ll put it on their front door the next day
6- INVEST IN THE COMMUNE ON HARV’S ISLAND ! Katrina and Cyrus are probably the most useful things you can get in the game. Katrina’s fortunes aren’t always the most useful (looking at you, good luck with health), but she has some good ones that might save you for a day (luck with belongings is the best, since your tools won’t break for an entire day)
7- Start gathering resources on day 1. Until Blathers give you the DIY for a shovel, you can still get stuff from stones using an axe (though the limit is 7). You’ll always need more wood, iron and stone than you think you’ll need
8- Kapp’n can bring you to unique islands where you can get unique items / resources. The vines in particular make a great decorating tool on your cliffs, and you can also use them as ladders
9- Don’t become a slave to the Amiibo market. You’ll get addicted and always want more. Do not give in to this capitalist trap, this is a warning
10- Rosie is the best villager. Wdym this is biased ? No, it is an objective FACT. She is the bestest girl to have ever best girl and everyone needs a Rosie on their island (pls note that I am joking)
11- Every bug, fish and sea creature has something called a “total catch requirement”. Some will be available from the beginning of the game, while others may require you to catch 20 creatures in that category before they start spawning. Some, like the rare beetles, the coelacanth and the gigas giant clam require you to catch 100 bugs, fish and sea creatures respectively before they begin to spawn. So don’t despair if you can’t get them right away
12- Fantasy Name Generator is a helpful tool in case you don’t know what to name your island
13- If you don’t like your starter villagers, starter fruit, airport color and/or starter flowers (though i don’t actually know if you can tell that one from the plane) when you first get to your island, you can close the game before the dialogue is over and it’ll reset your progress back to the very beginning and give you other random options
14- Your first campsite villager will always be a smug, and yes, you HAVE to move them in. My condolences if said villager is, huh… not the best 😅 I thought the game would give me another option if I time travelled when I got Keaton but nope, that didn’t work
15- Some DIY recipes and reactions are tied to a specific villager type, meaning that only a certain personality can give it to you. You don’t have to do this, of course, but it’s nice if you can have at least 1 villager of each personality type on your island, at least for a time. It’s also a good way to avoid getting too much repetitive dialogue every day
16- There’s a way not to get stung by wasps and catch them every time when you shake trees. Take your net out and shake the tree from the front. Your character will automatically turn towards the wasp nest when it falls. All you gotta do is press A, and you’ll always catch them. Unless there’s a villager nearby, in which case you’ll trigger a dialogue where they’ll get spooked and leave you to your doom (I’m just saying, Poppy is lucky she’s adorable and I can’t stay mad at her)
17- DO NOT RUN AROUND YOUR ISLAND WITH YOUR NET OUT DURING SCORPION/TARANTULA SPAWNING HOURS. This has been a PSA
18- 12PM-2PM is usually the time where most of your villagers are outside. It’s a good time to travel to if there’s a villager you hope will move out

My latest island actually follows Point 15. I have one of each personality type (plus two random extras) and if one of the first eight moves out, I always try and replace them with a villager of the same type (something that isn't always that easy, though). The random two villagers get replaced with whoever, they aren't set.

I have all 8 personalities and 2 extra crankies bc I’m weak for the grumpy boys 😭 My problem is that 3 crankies is a bit too much and I’m looking for some variety but idk which one to let go of 😭 Bruce is the last villager that moved in so he won’t ever get a bubble until another moves in. And Fang is best boy so that leaves only Apollo but- 😭😭😭
with 9, its very very easy to diy your own amiibos if you want a certain villager/not in it for collectables. Especially if you have an android device you just need to buy a supported rfc sticker/card. you can get 200 for like 7 dollars.
otherwise, if you have a modded switch, theres so many amiibo emulators its basically pointless to buy actual amiibos. I get into the collectable trap easily but was lucky enough to only care about the earthbound char/kk slider amiibos to only buy them and stop lmao
I found an Amiibo card with Lucky on it, which just so happens to look exactly like my fourteen year old, three legged, black and white dog, also named Lucky. Finding that card got me to buy a Switch and AC:NH;Still never bought an Amiibo product!😂
for #17, why? is there a hidden spawn mechanic regarding holding the net? Tarantulas are the only bug I've missing, I can never see them spawn when I time travel.
Don't just play during the day. You'll miss out on shooting stars/star fragments, fish, bugs, sea creatures and all of Celeste's DIYs, not to mention getting songs from K.K. on Saturdays.
Additionally, don't forget to play Sunday mornings if you care about turnips. I like to sleep in most days, if I'm not working, and completely forget. 😅
Okay but when my villager gives another villager a ridiculous outfit as an apology who am I to ruin their happiness over a mended friendship? Of course I’m going to tell them it suits them!

My biggest mistake was eating the fruit Mom sent me - I didn't know that I wouldn't be able to find it again without visiting other people's islands

I did a lot of these mistakes. When I started the game I tried to avoid looking up much online because I wanted to figure things out for myself. I definitely would have chose a different map and a different town name. But it's okay, I made it work and I still love my island! But I just started playing New Leaf for the first time and I spent an entire day just picking my island, I restarted it a million times (and there are still things I would have done different, lol).
I did the flower infestation mistake n I lost a villager and now it's hard to get him back
The island sharing thing is a good one. When we first got our switch (specifically for ACNH), my son originally started our island. Thankfully shortly there after, he realized he may or may not play everyday with his gaming habits (he jumps around to different games a lot), and had me restart our island, so that I was the "Mayor" so all the important things would happen and our island would progress.

This is kind of obscure, but I recently decided to move my rocks to where i wanted them (in a circle somewhere). Be sure to ALWAYS fill any spot with mannequins. I spent a month or so doing this because I kept forgetting to fill in a very obscure spot.
I let the flowers grow out of control, that’s how I got my first blue rose. I have no regrets.
Something that bugs me about not being able to change your name in New Horizons is the fact that Pocket Camp has this option. With Pocket Camp being a phone game, it's sad how it does several things better than NH such as being able to place rugs outside, having more furniture from previous games as well as more variety, villagers being able to interact with more items, more holdable items (e.g. stuffed animals, swords, game controllers), and more items to wear on your back (e.g. fairy wings, animal tails.) I love New Horizons, but the next AC game really should take more notes from Pocket Camp with some of the stuff they've done.
Selling exclusive items like the ones that DAL send us from time to time might be something we want to avoid. Especially that airplane model. You could get one again with another character but it takes so much time to get one (300 air travels? That’s a lot!). it’s so easy to sell things in our storage that you really shouldn’t when you’re trying to free up some space. I never actually sold DAL items but I did sell Luna’s bed on accident. Luckily it’s not too hard to get one back through one of my characters but still😢
Bob's Gang! A simple thing I didn't know when I first started playing ACNH is that you could change your character's gender by looking into a mirror. In every other Animal Crossing game, you were stuck with your gender choice and had to start over completely if you wanted different. I restarted my first ACNH island a month into the game's release, not realizing I could just change my character's gender much like you can their appearance. Honestly, ACNH has had so many learning curves that set it apart from previous entries.
Bob's gang! Oof there was multiple mistakes I made for my first island. When I started I had no idea I could reset the maps so I could choose I different one. Also using the beautiful island ordinance and time traveling multiple days, allowing the flowers to spread at a exhilarated rate. One last thing is settling for a villager I didn't really want when hunting with the intention of kicking them off later (this is after the main story has finished).
Amusingly, my auto-filled villagers have all generally been good. I got Stitches and Bruce from auto-fills. So I lucked out on that front.
It is possible to have Isabelle reset your initial villagers' houses to what they would have gotten had they come later, though I think this feature requires HHP to use. But I did use this feature on the homes of my first five villagers, in order to bring their homes up to the standard of the later villagers.

2-3 of these are things I did
- Didn't know I couldn't terraform the river mouths, so I just grabbed whatever
- Didn't know I couldn't move the Resident Services, so I didn't care where it was placed when I picked an island
- Beautiful Ordinate, flat island, flowers. So. Many. Flowers. My island was taken over by blue roses and other blue flowers. Imagine the whole left half of your island being completely taken over by flowers. Yeah, that's me. I had to use so many shovels xD
Trying to wait out the first camper in your campsite before realizing that you HAVE to take in the first camper, no questions asked, no exceptions. I've seen someone move their entire campsite just so the villager would leave, but they stayed.
I accidentally left turnips out (just 10) and I was actually able to get an ant and a fly for the museum
My biggest mistake was rushing through the development of my island. Animal Crossing is so much better when you take your time and enjoy the game instead of time traveling and rushing to get a lot of bells, all your dreamies, or the perfect island.
Rodney autofilled into my island about six months ago and I wanted him gone so badly because he annoyed me so much, I only just finally FINALLY got rid of him two weeks ago, life on the island now feels so freeing and breezy
I honestly found an exception to the "ugly house rule" I found Boomer as my Lazy starter, and due to me encountering him in New Leaf, I connected the dots and headcannoned that he hid all his tech to avoid suspicion that he was an alien XD. One of the few times it worked out better than the rest XD.
Completely relate to the one about child as the 1st player. Initially it was my daughts island. And when i realized i could have my own player on her island, i was all in. Unfortunately, shes the residents adviser but I honestly do all the work lol i want to reset so bad but its hers lol may need my own switch now 😅

I have a friend who stopped playing bc they didn't wanna trash their island but they have transitioned since the start of their island and it upsets them to see their deadname :0(
Honey and Clover is one of my favorite series of all time! There are 2 seasons of the Anime. Keep watching it if only for Shinobu's back story and the other characters' development (especially Yuta).
One of my first villiagers was Plucky. She came with a table and a sleeping bag. I didn't upgrade her to a bed for a month. She now has a bed and a table. Minimalist phase I assume!
Selling fish that you should donate to the museum when it's getting renovated. I did this with two oarfish in the early days of my gameplay (somewhere between May 31st and June 1), and I had to wait all the way until December to finally get one again and donating to the museum. It was painful. 😫😂
The biggest mistake I made was probably eating some oranges when I had an island full of cherries. I didn’t plant them I just found out after that I was meant to plant them. I waited months to get different fruit cause I was new to the game as well. Let’s just say I only made like 2000 bells a day off of just cherries.
Don't reset your island too many times cause if you reset your island too many times, your gonna get too burned-out to play through the beginning again.
Don’t reset at all. And if you’re going to, mod your switch and backup your island on your computer.

RE: Changing your name requiring you to restart your island.
You can make a new profile, or use a second, have that character move in, make them the island representative, delete character 1, then make a new character for that profile and reverse the island rep'ing. It's a hassle, but I still think it's far better than erasing your entire island.
I would love to use turnips to get more bells, but I always end up messing up one way or another...so now I just stick to fossils, fruit and flowers.
I did the flower overgrowth on purpose. I posted a bunch of reds to make all black flowers. But it is a pain to up root and move them where I want them afterwards.
omg. the flowers spreading and overgrowing is so true. since I wasn't observant enough, I didn't get the ladder item until later in the game so I wasn't able to explore the higher points of my island.. and let's just say when I got there roses covered everything.
My biggest mistake is not having a design for your island layout in mind to move your villagers around. The way my bfs top layer to his default island was I wanted to replicate it. Sadly Amelia (now sherb) lived in the building path for the left hand side and I have all my villagers spaced out to where I can't move anyone around.
you can put houses on the beach, unlike previous games. i used this trick when completely tearing down my island cliffs and rebuilding them on the opposite side of the island
We didn't know about the resident representative feature so my sister who never plays set her acc up first, so for all the set up I had to switch between my account and her account to progress the game. Honestly terrible decision to not make that feature changeable.
I was gonna restart my island until I got my ideal one but when I saw Genji as my first villager it was meant to be
4:05 WOW that is such a cool feature on an island.. Having a FULL BEACH be split in 2 like that.. I have one south exit and one west exit, but man, the beach is noway near that size by the exits.. I actually only really have 2 big beach areas..

Oh God I've just gotten ACNH and this video popping up in my YT home literally saved me, THANK YOU SO MUCH
Crossing Channel, regarding about the flower issue, well as for my own island, I've done that on purpose which I have roughly about 1,500 blue roses with stones barricading them from my peach orchard. Now just need to get the Blue Rose Wreath DIY! Overall am definately happy with my character's name, and have terraformed my island and very satisfied with it also. Getting the remaining few gold DIY's, and items for some of them have been utterly painstakingly SLOW-GOING though. I've yet still to do both bug & fish tournaments, and finishing my entire critterpedia + the art gallery in Blather's Museum to complete that as well before building up my island for the 5-star rating.
They're pretty clear about what you can change and can't change at the start of the game. the real problem is THERE IS JUST ONE ISLAND PER SWITCH

the name thing is so true ! My partner has their deadname and it makes playing uncomfortable for them !
When I first make my island I used my dead name years later I deleted my island to start over bc I couldn’t stand hearing it. Still sad I lost so much progress
agh yeah, I play on my boyfriend’s switch, he got acnh 3 months ago and I play whenever I see him, but he hardly ever plays! We still haven’t got kk slider on the island because he’s the main player and takes soooooo long to do everything! I’ve expanded my house like 5 times and he’s still got one room lol
when i first started my animal crossing island in 2020 i went by another name, and now not heing able to change my name without deleting my island is really hard. And it makes me not want to play because of getting deadnamed all the time :/ pls add this in nintendo to let me change my name 🙏🏼☹️

You can fix the peppy, lazy, normal, and all the other house problems with the home resetting. I did it with Rio and it’s all red now
One mistake I made early on was selling some of the items I got from Gulliver because I thought I could buy them later
One common mistake (that is thankfully conditional, for the most part) is not enabling the back-up save data on the title screen when an NSO membership is active. Almost lost my 1500+ hour island because I didn't enable the feature. I corrupted some data after popping the sd card prematurely. I don't exactly remember how I fixed it, but the game wouldn't play for longer than a minute or so without crashing, and I remember feeling so crushed when I realized I didn't follow through with the feature since I believed it was an automatic process. I rushed to do it as soon as I was able. )=

I made the mistake of not keeping my flowers in check and now they are everywhere! I keep thinking about cleaning them up, but it's so much work. I don't understand why they didn't offer it as a service from Lief like you suggested. I mean flowers are sort of weeds, right? Painful beauty!
I had the ugliest hard to work with non special island the first time because i never considered restarting, then got mad when i started watching Chace Crossing because everybody else could do so much more with their island or their maps looked cuter. The side beach rocks were extremely small, the back ocean rocks were thin, my secret beach was at the very end of the island, my residence services was 3 squares away from the beach and around 9 squares away from my airport, my back beach rocks were small and nothing special just a standard eh shape, the beach was straight and boring when i would have preferred it looking wavier for interest, the beach between my airport and the first river mouth was small and the beach was boring shaped, my dock was short, and my peninsula was thin and pointless to decorate..... I tried to roll with it telling myself "At least i have a unique island", but in truth i hated it and was envious of other people's.
I restarted and my new island has everything i was deprived of on my original island. Just about the only thing i couldn't get was a bigger dock, but it didn't matter because my new island's shape is so much more interesting and i also got a preferred layout for the type of island i wanted to build. In a way it still feels like my old island doe to having roses and pears again as my native flower and fruit, so it feels like my original island that i spent so much time on but corrected.
Map choosing was def it for me when starting in 2020 I just went with the map bc when I saw the fruit and villagers i was fine with it, until the problem of having the river mouths on the same side. 😪😅 I’ve grown to love it bc I don’t wanna restart my first island but when I got
My second switch I made double sure I didn’t do that
I understand why changing names is not a thing but I wish I chose Queen Jade instead of Jade Queen for my name. I like everything else about it which is why I’m hesitant to reset.
For the "Not enough Nook Miles for tickets to go villager hunting" problem: Make sure you have enough for 2+ tickets, if not more, considering finding your dreamie(s) that way is of course a crapshoot and the game likes to try giving you villagers with personalities you don't already have/have the least of already. It's not impossible to get a personality you already have, as I already had Merry when I found her fellow Peppy villager Maddie on a hunt.
Dailies for players with the HHP DLC:
* Check DLC beach (all sides) for an extra DIY bottle
* Besides on the front beach, potential clients will also spawn inside the Restaurant and Cafe. If you can't reach them because of the layout (sectioned sofa seating too close to a table, for instance), exit and re-enter and they'll have moved.
* After Restaurant built: talk to the chef in its kitchen for a Cooking DIY (duplicates possible).
* After Hospital built: go there every Monday during the day to get free turnips from Joan (the boar for those who don't know). Amount varies.
* After School built: talk to the teacher to get a free Plumeria bush start after Lief has taught a class there.

Don't rush through the starting days just to get the terraforming, I personally find the progress and working toward a goal to be the must fun, but now that know about terraforming I always rushed through that beginning bit and don't enjoy the game the same way I did with with my first island...
New Horizons was the first Animal Crossing game I played so I came in it with low expectations and overall I am happy with my villagers and my island. I have never restarted my game. I have left it dormant for some time and I intend on going back to it eventually. I'd rather play it with friends since the entire purpose of my island was to share it with others.
You can actually reset the villager home to there default ones by talking to her I heard
I agree with the flower one because I had to dig up a whole bunch of flowers 2 times at least I got help digging them up both times
I have a mistake for people to lean about, talking to the villagers you want to keep and whenever you get unwanted villagers it takes longer for them to want to move out because the game will also pull your wanted villagers into the options of move out villagers. Don't speak to them because the game wont move forward with them unless you make your character meet them. That way you can keep kicking out unwanted villagers because they're the only ones who'll be thinking about moving. So don't talk to your dreamies, talk to your unwanted villagers at least once.
Once you have everyone you want then you're free to interact with them to your heart's desire.
Underestimating how much bridges/inclines cost. I ended up wasting the first bridge on a skimpy little area thinking "oh i'll just get more bridges for the bigger areas" and then they were like 10 times more expensive then i thought
My biggest mistake was not watching the trailers! I chose not to because I like going into games blind, but I had no idea about the terraforming tool until I got it. The island I first picked had a natural heart shaped pond which was cool… but the rest of the island kind of sucked.
Also for the gifting thing, I always give my villagers clothes that would suit them! Sometimes I will go shopping just to get some shirts for my favourite villagers, and I will even wrap them :3

When I first started it took a while to realise I could sell more than one thing at a time! So much time wasted! Also, get a storage shed as quick as possible…another time saver!
I saw Christina Heber's comment saying don't let a child be the first one on the island, but I would like to add that if there is a child who plays animal crossing that doesn't know what they are doing, do not let them use the island designer app. My sister did that and the island became pure CHAOS
I wish I had looked at some videos before I started playing, I feel like I picked the worst island, didn’t know about the resident services issue with being so close to the airport, my pier is one of the shorter ones and I’m not keen on where my secret beach is placed and the river mouths! lol I will definitely watch some videos before I play the new AC!

the flower thing is so true, i had my cousin come to my island and help me dig up the flowers and i let them keep and sell whatever they dug up but omg it took FOREVER 😟

Not picking the first island wasn't realy an option for people new to the game in 2020. It would have ruined the experience for me to just be constantly restarting to brute force a good layout. Especially as some one who hadn't played an AC game since the GameCube. But TBH I do wish I'd had foresight to at least re-roll the maps at the very beginning. It's a catch-22. Because I do wish I could bring myself to restart just to get a perfect layout. But then I'd lose everything and that just ain't gonna happen. I don't own a second switch either.

My sister and I each have our own switch, so having a partner to trade stuff with, time travel to get the best turnip prices, AND house our original 3 villagers when they moved out only so they could move back in with their proper house really helped. Best ACNH tip; get yourself a good partner with their own switch to do things with 😅
In regards to the clip at 9:09 do Quinn and Tank always come as a pair? They were my first two islanders as well. 😮

What is wrong with having design constraints when it comes to island design? especially when you could not choose the layout in the original GC game.
i didn't know you could only fill one plot a day, so i went a bit gonzo putting down plots and then FRICKIN HANS autofilled one of them. and he was SO HARD TO GET RID OF! i think i ended up amiiboing him out haha
I had to trade Genji to a friend and then have them trade him back to me when I first started the game :') He was one of my starter villagers and I love him but his starter house was so awful ;-;
Planting the money tree every single day. My island has gotten over run by trees due to this before and it was crazy. Spend over 3 hours crafting shovels, axes, shaking, catching wasps, cutting down trees and digging up the stumps... never again.
I now do a 2 to 1 thing where for every one money tree I plant, I cut down two
i would say be very wise about using the ordinances either it can work for you or work against you.
I started with the island I chose when I started the game and I'm happy with it
Not realising you only have 100 spaces for customer designs and if you want to save more patterns than that, you have to save over the existing ones. When you do this, where ever you have used that design gets overwritten with the new designed you've saved.
I left my island for two months and I came back to a island full of pansies. 😅
Biggest mistake I made: DONT LET ANYONE BE THE ISLAND REPRESENTATIVE /mayor but YOU if you care about the island. Get your own switch. My little brother bought the game and started the island on my switch EVEN THOUGH IM THE DIEHARD A.C fan and I had to restart the island WAY later cause he choose to get a switch of his own and take his profile with him. Leaving my island mayorless
i am going to help my brother exploit the first 3 nook mile ticket villagers because of the set personalities we’re going to add some random peppy and normal then hunt only lazies to try to get bob
My 5 year old is the main character on our island lol, it's definitely made for some fun times when he changes things, but honestly it's supposed to be his game, I just "help" XD
using the drop off box.... used it for weeks every day because i was too lazy entering the shop and only coincidentally found out what i was doing...

Little to none animal crossing channels do this, when there are finches/owls on the board by resident services, people don't check it because they don't know that the birds mean there's something new the player hasn't seen yet on the board.
7:24, Imo, the jock villager home is the worst, its just very empty and just a sleeping bag as a bed, for lazy villagers, the house isn't too bad, but why does it have to have a dirt floor?
I have been having an internal battle with my self trying to decide if it is a rash decision to restart and lose all of my progress on my island just because I want to change my name and, low key, test out a different map 😅
Actually with the Nintendo app on the phone you can change who is in charge of your island I learned that by scrolling through it

Honestly I think we all make a bunch of mountains and rivers and mess everything up with overfills of weeds and flowers so put down some clear custom palms if you don’t want the flower infestation by the way Bob’s gang!
