UO Outlands is a FREE TO PLAY MMORPG based off Ultima Online. In this video I go over the basics to getting out on the sea. The Sea in Avadon is what some consider the "End Game" to Outlands. Its farming return is greater than anywhere else in the game and the risk vs. reward isn't for the faint at heart.

Fun fact about the he patch! Pirates would use an eye patch, not because they lost their eye, but because they did not have lights below deck. They would use the eye patch to preserve their "night vision" in one eye so goin below deck would not slow them down. In the heat of battle, every second counts.

I have a request for a follow up video (not the advanced one)
In all the videos around, people present how to do it right, say " high risk - high reward"
BUT no one focus on the risks and when things go sideways;
How do you know which enemy you can take down and which you can't?
How do you retreat? Or avoid stronger enemies
What happens if you die?
What happens if you recall from the ship, can you get back to it or can you retrieve the ship?
What happens if crew members die?
What happens when your ship is sunk
Maybe you can share some stories of your misfortunes and what you learned from them

Glad to see they kept building on the naval combat system. So many UOers love the seas, a shame EA/OSI/whatever didn't make that pirate expansion a reality and gave us AoS instead. UO:HS would have been a fantastic booster in 2000, not in 2010.
UO def took a turn for a different game at AoS. I must admit I did make a comeback during Samurai Empire and enjoyed it quiet a bit for sometime. However Outlands seems to have captured my heart for UO.
DID YOU KNOW! It's argued that the real reason a captain would wear an eye patch, was because it was super bright at sea so they wore an eye patch so they always had one eye adjusted to the darkness.

Hi. Can you record yourself and talk through a kill of another ship and show the loot you get from it please? Are there different levels of difficulty? Are there NPC ships you can kill or is it just players?
Yes the difficulty of the ship is based on the size and also type of NPC on the boat. The larger the boat generally the stronger it will be. Also there are lots of types of NPCs. From fishermen to Demons. The demons are much more difficult than the fisherman.

This is helpful but why is there no combat footage? Be very helpful to see what this looks like when you're actually doing it. Esp considering how high the barrier to entry is to start doing this.
There is another video that speaks about combat.
However these both are very old. Holmedog has been making updated ship videos. I will too soon again. :)

They really are. I know the guy who used to be the brewmaster over there before Anheuser-Busch bought them. It’s fun to talk to him about how he goes about creating a new beer.
Great vid and introduction to this content. I'm a casual player so put off by the prospect of having to create the crafters you outlined at the beginning. Is it possible to purchase all the stuff required from vendors or is the supply not there?
Oh and for a new video suggestion, I guess one following on from this showing us ship combat and some tips would be good!

Correct, you dont HAVE to have those crafters at your disposal. there are merchants out there that supply the needed supplies. also the discord #sell and #buy channel are great places as well!
Thx a lot. I have a suggestion. I’m returning player I’m going to be firing up your outlands soon. I’m playing the wild terra 2 late beta. But, I would like to see the skills that have significantly changed or been implemented since the OSI days. From the videos I’ve watched the last couple of days I’m hearing forensic evaluation, begging I think you mentioned, and I can’t think of the others. But, you see where I’m going? Skills that didn’t do anything before. Start with those. Then maybe go to the ones that change significantly like I think arms lower in anatomy and some other mail index or skills.
