    Been using the diamond cutoff wheel for several years and they are great. Great for sheet metal. When you get into thicker stuff (1/4 " or more) you definitely run into heat issues and slow cut speed. That's when I go back to abrasive cutoff wheels. Never had one of these come apart on me and can get away with basic eye protection. Nice video.

      yeah someone needs to make a coolant system for these lil grinders for it to really be good for cutting thick stuff

    There are great. You can control the cut better. Less burrs and the metal is cool. I have a Evolution chop saw with the diamond blade. Works awesome.

    been beating on a lenox for two months now, anywhere from sheet metal to cutting a c10 frame. I cant tell myself to go back to abrasive, except for at work where im not paying for them. hoping to get them to switch also. cuts straighter, cleaner, and no wheel dust. only downside is if it catches, hang on

      I have had a Lenox for 2 or 3 years and just recently opened my second wheel that I had gotten when I couldn't find the first one.

    I do like keeping my worn down cut off wheels for tight places from time to time. Definitely going to pick one of these up though.

    For cutoff wheels I love my bad dog tools. Lifetime warrenty bought one over 3 years ago at grand national roadstershow, I have cut metal plastic concrete and wood. I highly reccomend them. I do agree with speed u gotta cut a lil slower when using the better discs

    They take the death out of "Death wheels". Found a mastercraft version on sale and decided to try it out, haven't gone back since. You can just leave one of these on a grinder without worrying about snapping the wheel because you looked at it wrong while putting it down LOL.

    • @rcmike09
      @rcmike09 Рік тому

      Truth. I have dropped my grinder with a Lennox version and was ready to cry about a bent blade. It didn't bend.

      The crappy tire one is good? It’s all I can find locally. Some of the master craft stuff is good but lots is junk

    The Diamond wheels aren’t as bad about embedding abrasive material into soft metals (ever tried to TIG aluminum cut with an abrasive disc?)

    The metal cut off wheels are nice. But they are slower and loud as hell. Since I don’t have my own shop, I’ve started going back to the regular cut off wheel. I’m currently trying out Walter wheels. I just don’t want to make too much noise around my neighbors. I do keep the metal as a backup though.

    @rcmike09 Рік тому +1

    I have had the Lennox version, and love it. I'm not in the shop everyday, but am out alot. And one has lasted me 2 or 3 years. And just started getting to where it doesn't cut well. I have also seen a wheel that allowed you to grind and cut. But was $100.
    Sometimes, a smaller cut of wheel allowed you to get into an area you couldn't before.

    Once I run out of my supply for the old school abrasive wheels I’ll be picking up some of these to try

    I have one of these for my smaller Ridgid grinder and it is a great wheel. I think I have used it in light metals for a long time, probably 2 years or more and it still cuts well. It is a little slower comparatively but the fact that it is still cutting is a cost savings.

    Glad to have another "You Need this Tool" except I always end up spending more money... 🤣 Been loving Benchmark Abrasives cut-off wheels, but will definitely give one of these a try. Do they make less heat in the part?

    Ordered a couple 4.5 inch and 4 of the 3 inch to try. Thanks man,your always a blessing.
    Idea, might do tool reviews on things that have really held up well over time.
    We are having problems with dewalt grinders at the gears in front housing. We found opening them and adding better grease before using does help but, they aren't holding up well for us. Have four waiting on gears now. fwiw.
    Thanks again man, looked forward to this every week for a long time, so glad its back.

    Tried them and they run a lot hotter than a standard cutoff disc, with what I cut (high carbon steel) I got about 40-50x more than a standard disc but only about 20x more than a 3M cubitron disc which was A LOT cooler cutting.

    I been wanting to try the chop saw blade I'll have to get one of these to try do they still throw sparks

    • @rcmike09
      @rcmike09 Рік тому

      Yes, they still throw sparks. But, not as much since they are not also throwing bits of the wheel also. The chop saw ones are super expensive to me.

    Meh.. The only advantages I see are they last longer and don't explode. Other than that, abrasive disc's cut way WAY faster.

    I still don't think they're worth it. Heat is the enemy on them so it is only good for thin sheet metal in my opinion.
