I came from a town that didn't have a stoplight until the early 90s where the mayor the 2 police officers and chief, the fire department and so many locals were kkk. Though i did not join or attend their rallies i so easily developed the "herd mentality" My father and brother were part of it as well. My mother however was such a beautiful person that she taught me to observe the fact there is greatness in learning all cultures and observing all religions to take something from all of them to be a better person. I didnt realize then that it is why people are so unhappy because it consumes their entire being. Children especially it is too much weight for them to carry. My son is 13 now and at the top of his class, he is kind, caring and likes to help others. He also is at his blue belt in karate. His teachers always ask what we do "different" because he has a certain glow that i missed out on until my mother started showing me a better way. I realize that we dont teach him racial, sexual, or religious boundaries and its amazing the growth it allows to not put all those limitations on somebody you claim to love.

Canada growing up wasn't taught to us anyway in Alberta as the melting pot. That was the United States. I'm metis myself and get annoyed at racism from Indigenous and Caucasian. Being "halfbreed" we were not white enough growing up and same when we moved to Indigenous communities, we were not indian enough. The whole hate and racism thing has to move out of peoples minds. We have cultures not races.
