they dont make quality anything like this anymore. I mean you get a damn near commercial quality vacuum cleaner that lasts generations, attachments for shampooing, a sanding and buffing attachments that vacuums the dust as your work, its a blower, its a floor polisher, a shampooer, its an all in one. amazing. on top of that a well produced video owners manual including the science behind the nasty dust in your carpet. what a time.
Quality is still there with the Avalir 2 that I picked up at a pawnshop for $20. I was able to pick up the caddy with the tools and attachments including the upholstery shampooer, and zip brush for $250 at a local vacuum shop and 2 kirby hepa filter bags. All in all for a $2500 vacuum I only payed $270. People don't understand Quality anymore. The Avalir 2 you can also use older generation attachments to the hose even the hair trimmer they used to have for older models. I like the sander attachment which is not that bad of a price on the Kirby web site.
Ok, I've obviously used the G5 as a vacuum cleaner, and I just used the carpet shampoo system... but really- is anyone sanding wood with their G5? I mean, kudos for versatility, but sanding?!
I bought a Kirby G5 in 1997 that came with a VHS video with instructions how to change an upright to a canister. . I used the manual and VHS for a long time but now I don't have anything to play a VHS on. Is there anywhere that I can order a CD or find it on this web site, I thought I could remember how to change it over but I can't.

My Avalir 2 is still built like the old school units. Simply amazing. Everything is rebuildable on these units.
I watched the sh*t out of this as a kid, it really helped me know the ins and outs of this insanely customizable vacuum.
the narrators voice for the G5 owners manual video is so sooting 😌
Brilliant full demonstration 😊
I remember watching this video manual back in the 90s.
We owned one and I can't remember what my parents did with it.

I thought the two massager attachments were a bit much.

I see VCRs at second-hand stores all the time. It's also possible to copy a VHS over to DVD.
I have 2 generation 5s👑
