Matsuda Kobayashi finally returns to ECW after spending the last month back home in Japan training under his father, the legendary Muta Kobayashi.
His return was marked with a surprise attack on the man who snatched the Intercontinental Championship away from him, Chris Slater, before a Champion vs. Champion matchup with ECW World Heavyweight Champion Simon.
A surprise attack indeed it was as it was extremely out of the ordinary for the cool-headed Kobayashi that we’ve come to know. Could his father have changed him for the worse? Or for the better? In part because of Kobayashi, Simon would prove too much for Slater as he was unable to recover from the attack and became the World Champion’s latest victim.
After Simon became the first man to pin Slater since his title victory, Matsuda Kobayashi came back out on the stage to talk trash, saying that “he is no real champion”, as well as stating that he wants his title rematch at Cyberslam, but only if he is able to defeat Slater next week on ECW in an exhibition match to “put his new skills, learned under his father, to the test.”
