I love Mr. Woodhouse being so distraught to hand Emma over when literally nothing in his life is going to change except his bff Knightley might arrive earlier to breakfast than he used to.
They're so perfect 😭 I can't decide what's more romantic; their stares, the way he replies "yes" to her questions or those kisses 😍😩 so much chemistry. Autumn de Wilde didn't get enough credit. This movie is so underrated
Ah but notice at the beginning he uses the excuse of Knightly being cold to put a fire screen behind Knightley and Emma. Mr Woodhouse knew or feared what the two were not aware of yet
I always loved Mr. Knightly’s character, in the book of course, and for years watching Mark Strong’s excellent interpretation, now I love Johnny Flynn too!! Mr. Knightly is never anything but kindness and gallantry itself….give’s widely to the poor, works with and values his tenants, looks down on no one, and is very patient with Emma’s Father, his kindness to Harriet Smith at the ball is a prime example…..he is not called Mr. knightly for nothing, he is truly a knight in shining armour….
I was impressed they kept the collar in this movie, they usually ignore them because regency era men seemed determined to dress like they needed a medical neck brace. People quibble about the accuracy of women's outfits in regency era movies, but rarely realize just how much film changes the men's outfits (and hair) to be more tolerable for modern audiences.
I wanted to like it, but some of the early choices really turned me off. This is my favorite Jane Austen and I couldn't get past the arrival of Emma's sister and his brother. Had to turn it off.
A little thing I noticed was that both Mr. Knightley and his brother cries in the wedding. I like to think of it as a small detail that really shows that they're siblings.
If Emma presents Knightley with a son, the younger brother can no longer inherit the estate. That was actually one reason Emma gives earlier in the novel for wanting Mr. Knightley to stay single - so her sister’s son remains his heir. This is before she accepts her own love for him.
I'm 2 years late and only watched the moviet 2 days ago on netflix for total of i dont know how many times already.. What a beautiful movie and super great acting!
Can’t help but chuckle thinking Knightly’s bro is crying less out of happiness, and more out of sympathy for his brothers loss of freedom as he’s “chained up” as he is now 🤣🤣🤣
Tried but couldn't bear that Bridgerton porn show for even half of the first ep. This is tension... heat...anticipation..glimpses of potential... excitement.
How odd that they had the perfect actor to play Knightley and made him play Frank Churchill and the perfect actor to play Frank Churchill and made him play Knightley.

The fact that he never hesitates when saying “yes” to all her questions. Next to Mr. Darcy, Mr. Knightly is perfection.
Noooo. Surely, Mr. Knightly is perfection!
Mr. Tilney tho
Facts
He is ❤
Yes. Mr Knightly is a true gentleman.
They're so perfect 😭 I can't decide what's more romantic; their stares, the way he replies "yes" to her questions or those kisses 😍😩 so much chemistry. Autumn de Wilde didn't get enough credit. This movie is so underrated
Are they supposed to kiss?
@@ForeverSweetx3I'm pretty sure it's standard to kiss your proposee when asked for your hand in marriage
I've just noticed the candle flames are perfectly still. There is visual evidence of absolutely no draft 😂
True! Although, Mr. Woodhouse *did* say it was a draft about the knees, so it couldn’t have blown the candle flames anyway
Her performance is fantasic
When he asks; How is it now?",but the screens aren't positioned for Mr. Knightley's comfort.
I love how in the beginning of the film he asked if anyone cried at the wedding he’s the one crying at his own along many others. Great foreshadowing.
Why was he crying
I love how Mr Elton finally gets "innocence" right.
I'd like a father in law like Mr. Woodhouse. Purposely make Charles and Bartholomew put the blinds to give her daughter privacy with Mr. Knightley
Cheap to feed too, all he ever wants to eat is a basin of thin gruel.
Ah but notice at the beginning he uses the excuse of Knightly being cold to put a fire screen behind Knightley and Emma. Mr Woodhouse knew or feared what the two were not aware of yet

If you have not checked out the Romola Garai and Johnny Lee Miller version, that's my favorite
We all deserve a Mr. Knightley in our lives ❤
“Do you feel a draft Mr. Knightley…about the knees?” 😂🤣
I can’t help but laugh at the high collars😂
They almost remind of those blinders they put on horses😂
I was impressed they kept the collar in this movie, they usually ignore them because regency era men seemed determined to dress like they needed a medical neck brace. I did struggle with this production .... but must admit that it is growing on me .... very rapidly. The subtleties in the direction are exquisite.
I feel the same.
The cinematography was exquisite!

This is the way that evenings were spent before radio or Telly. Love the way she plants a quick kiss on his lips then turns away.I'm jealous.❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
I want a Mr.Knightley 🥰🥰🥰
Don't we All
One of my favorite movie of all time !
I'm 2 years late and only watched the moviet 2 days ago on netflix for total of i dont know how many times already.. What a beautiful movie and super great acting!
NOT me tearing up just from this clip. what a lovely movie it is
I don't think Mr. Woodhouse felt a draft in this instance
You think?
@@PapaLobo94 yep
I hope all father are like Mr.woodhouse.
@@nnayam3 Careful what you wish for
Really? I thought he wanted Emma to stay single?

At least he’s chained up to a woman that genuinely loves him and vice versa
If Emma presents Knightley with a son, his bro loses any hope of inheriting their family estate.
Why is Mr Knightley stopping Emma hand
Mr. Knightley is perfection ❤️❤️❤️
Especially in Johnny Flynn's package 😍
Poor Charles and Bartholomew, they must spend their lives reorganising screens!
My fav version of Emma ❤. Loved all the actors in this one.
...As Jane Austen's Father Has left This Life; Jane Portrays This In Her writing!!! Her Love For Him!
So precious.
So sad 😭
his little smile here 2:05
Yes!!! That says it all!
Forget Mr Darcy, I always thought Mr Knightley was the far superior romantic lead.
Agreed.
FR, he was so kind and mature😢
This comparison is offensive to Mr Knightley
NAH Mr. TILNEY BRO
If only life was like that for real.
2:03 - 2:08 melts my heart
What a delightful clip! Great material to dream to. So so ultra sweet and innocent.
Tried but couldn't bear that Bridgerton porn show for even half of the first ep.
This is tension... heat...anticipation..glimpses of potential... excitement.
Thank God. That's exactly what it thought of Bridgerton too.
Same!!!
Makes me cry 😢😭❤️
Jonathan Flynn; Is In Possess of A Great Wooden Nose; For His Performance Shall Never Outgrow Him; He Is Excellent As The Hero To Her Heroine!!!
This movie changed my life. I'm NOT kidding
Can we just say how adorable the baby is?
2:42 🤣
Very good
Love him ❤
How do they not fall in love irl ill never understand
There's a deleted version of this scene just like the one in Brown Bunny.
love
What is the name
Emma
How can i watch this version please? I haven’t seen it
Netflix
😍
I like Ana
OMG this is sooo BAD.... 2009 VERSION with Romola Garai and Jhonny Lee Miller THE GOAT ONE 🐐🐐 ❤❤❤
Agree❤
I totally agree
Never seen this adaptation but that man does NOT look 16 years older than her (as he is in the book).
He literally is!
The actor here is 13 years older than her
The actors actually have a 13/14 year age gap.
Blonde people usually look younger than they are
Wish Men these days would "grow a pair"
ugh
I hate the mens collars
How odd that they had the perfect actor to play Knightley and made him play Frank Churchill and the perfect actor to play Frank Churchill and made him play Knightley.
And yet they were perfect like this
Definitely disagree. Absolutely perfect as cast. Couldn't imagine Callum as Knightly for all the world.
Nope definitely not. Callum Spencer is no Knightley. They're just right as they are.
@@frankieb43 Time you read the novel.
@@huolalupin6008 already have thanks
This movie is ridculous…
why
If you read the book you’ll see that Emma is intentionally ridiculous.
almost like that's the point
Ridiculously good
@@Mia-dt3glAusten wrote it as a satire on higher society and you cannot tell me otherwise😂
Yet another miserably done Literatur Film. Horrible.
This movie was a parody of Emma. I can’t imagine how it was made. Great actors, terrible script
