Deuteronomy 32 - The Song of/for Israel Part I - Israel Provokes God to Jealousy with Strange Gods; Therefore God Provokes Israel with The Church Deuteronomy 32:7-21) "Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee. When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. For the portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock; Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape. But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. They PROVOKED him to JEALOUSY with strange gods, with abominations PROVOKED they him to anger. They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not. Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee. And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. They have MOVED ME to JEALOUSY with that which is NOT GOD; they have PROVOKED me to anger with their vanities: and I will MOVE THEM to JEALOUSY with those which are NOT A PEOPLE; I will provoke them to anger with A FOOLISH NATION." [When Israel was blessed by God, and was given the land of promise, in time, the nation turned its back on God - and they went after other 'gods' which were NO GODS. Since they did this, God moved Israel to JEALOUSY with THE CHURCH - mostly made up of GENTILES.] The Apostle Paul confirmed this in the Book of Romans 11:1,13,14) "I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the APOSTLE of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: If by any means I may provoke to EMULATION them which are MY FLESH, and might save some of them." The Church is made mostly of GENTILES, because it was very difficult for the JEWS to understand that THE GOD OF ISRAEL was also THE GOD of GENTILES.
Deuteronomy 32 Song - Part III ISRAEL RESTORED Deuteronomy 32:35-38) "To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste. For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left. And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted, Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection." [God had allowed Israel to suffer, because they served other gods, which were no gods. He lets them know, "...since you put your trust in those gods, then let them help you..." This was a lesson.] From approximately A.D. 70 until A.D. 1948 Israel was no more a nation: only scattered people. They were few in number, but not extinct. On May 14, 1948 Israel had become a nation again; albeit, small. The surrounding areas of inhabitants were not happy, and attacked Israel; and they wanted to annilate them as in Psalm 83... Psalm 83:2-10) "For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah. Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison: Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth." [These countries were unsuccessful. They tried again in 1967 and 1973, but they were unsuccessful again. It was in 1967 when Israel regained Jerusalem; at least parts.] Now that Israel has been a nation for 70 years - sometime in the near future they will make a covenant with THE BEAST - this will start the 70th Week of DANIEL 9:24-27. According to the Prophet Jeremiah, it will be the time of Jacob's trouble... Jeremiah 30:7) "Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it." [Even so, God will save ISRAEL - as he mentions in Deuteronomy] Deuteronomy 32:39-42) "See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever. If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me. I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy." [Here, The Lord explains that HE is in Control. He will get judgment on the enemies. He mentions this also via the Prophets Jeremiah and Zechariah to name a few. This song is a song that the Children of Israel were instructed to sing; and I believe they still do.] Finally, God will also let the Israel-Friendly nations know at that time when he will save ISRAEL - and Israel will be born-again as a nation as they will enter the MESSIANIC, AKA MILLENNIAL KINGDOM! Deuteronomy 32 Song - Part II God Scatters ISRAEL for a PURPOSE Romans 11:22) "Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off." [The Apostle explains that Israel suffered much - due to their UNBELIEF; and THE GENTILES benefitted from God's GOODNESS. He also warns the Gentile believers to not think HIGH on SELF and LOW on ISRAEL, because Israel was the NATURAL BRANCH, and GENTILES were GRAFTED in.] The Apostle was speaking about THE CHURCH. The Church was at first, all JEWs, but gradually became MOSTLY GENTILES - and many JEWs were PROVOKED to JEALOUSY - as God stated in Deuteronomy 32. Acts 13:42-48) "And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath. Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were FILLED WITH ENVY, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming. Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should FIRST have been SPOKEN TO YOU: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to THE GENTILES. For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a LIGHT OF THE GENTILES, that thou shouldest BE FOR SALVATION unto the ENDS of the earth. And when the GENTILES heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed." [This is where THE GENTILE part of THE CHURCH really started to take hold. There were still very many JEWS that believed, but fewer and fewer new ones after a period of time.] Yet, God was still going to save ISRAEL, but in time; first he would scatter them throughout the Earth so that Israel as a nation would be diminished. The Jewish People suffered like none other throughout the generations, but they were never completely destroyed. The Lord is THE GOD OF ISRAEL. This is a lesson for anyone. Deuteronomy 32:23-28) "I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them. They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust. The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs. I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men: Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the LORD hath not done all this. For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them." [In this - God allowed Israel to suffer many things of many nations, yet he would not utterly destroy them, because he did not want any NATION boasting of themselves.]
