@@Eurodance_Groove thank you for this comment but as a Roman I can tell you the truth, what you said is the common thought of the majority of Italians. It's incredible but it's like that.
Thank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful and honest perspective on Italy. It’s always insightful to hear from those who experience both the beauty and the challenges of living there. I’m grateful you appreciated the video’s effort to look beyond stereotypes and show the country more fully. It’s clear that Italy’s strengths and struggles are deeply intertwined, and your comment helps paint a fuller picture for everyone watching.
A little correction for the minute 46:14... The 3 languages are Ladin (with the "d" and not with the "t"), German and Italian. Ladin is a Romance language, so it derives from Latin but it's not Latin. There is also another language called Ladin spoken in Spain but it's a different Romance language.
This travel vlog was just beautiful to watch. Well edited and narrated. I think the first guy nails the perfect description of us: full of flaws but very rich and interesting to be visiting. Italy is like 6-7 countries contained in one single state/nation. This can be a mess of course, like weather, bureaucracy, and crimilality too at certain points... but i dare you to find a boring moment in a road trip here. Good job, I Hope you enjoy the lands, the food, the craziness too😂.😂
Gregor, now that I have watched the whole video...WOW! Impressed, of course, by the variety and magic of Italy. But also impressed, as always, with the joy and enthusiasm you bring to all of your videos. Further, I'm impressed by all the editing that must have gone into such a long video full of very short video clips. The result is fabulous, riveting, well worth the watch. I do have one bone to pick with you, however. Based on your other videos, on my recent trip to Italy I frequently but quietly made fun of the many people in cafes on public squares sipping aperol spritzes in the morning and early afternoon, since you made clear they are for 4 pm and until dinner. (I made fun of them to my friend, not to the drinkers!) Now I learn that you were drinking cappuccinos after 11 am all over Italy! I am so disillusioned. 😣
Thanks a lot for the compliments. I'm glad you watched the whole video. Yeah, it was a lot of work to make and edit this video, and it was filmed way back in May, so it took a while to finally get it out there. About the coffee, I usually don't have cappuccinos after lunch, but when I'm driving, I get a big drink because otherwise I get really sleepy.
Well done Gregor. You had the right picture of Italy. By discovering the small villages you had the perfect taste of what's mean be Italian. The tourists should use this approach when visiting Italy. Everyone should try to go also outside the big and famous cities that you must visit of course. Video is so underrated. Thumbs up and subscribed ❤
34:57 Dante's devine comedy is amazing... He met this beautiful girl as a kid and he had a big crush on her, without ever being with her and both of them marrying other people... She died very young and on his grave Dante promised to write in his memory the biggest story ever written, and he did it, working the rest of his life, dying soon after finishing and forging a language in the making... Italian language sounds good on purpose, because he did it that way.

3:58 Well Torino was a capital for 303 years. First was the capital of Duchy of Savoy for 157 years, then capital of Kingdom of Sardinia for 141 years, then capital of Kingdom of Italy for only 5 years. Then the capital was moved to Florence and eventually to Rome. ^_^
Your videos have been very informative prior my trip. I was recently in Italy for a 2 week vacation. Flew into Milan spent 1-3 days is a variety of locations including Riviera coastline, Sienna, Porto Recanati, Canazei, Bormio and Lake Como. Brought my road bike and completed a Gran Fondo and rode some of the climbs. Definitely coming back.
I'm so happy to see tourist talking about my region (Friuli Venezia Giulia) wich is really overlooked by italians too. I really think you have the best approach to traveling!
Amazing Video. Very well explaining Italian differences. Probably the best I´ve seen. Missing ofc a lot in general, and most of Puglia, Sicily and the amazing Sardegna, but great work for an hour of a video.

Excellent video. We spent nearly two weeks in Italy this past Summer, having driven between Milan and the Sorrento. Such great experience!! I definitely want to return to Italy ASAP!!!
I have been to many of the regions, cities, and villages that you visited in this video. It was a little jarring as you would show one town for 20 seconds, and you were off to the next. I'm yelling, "NO, stop and show more of that town!" Great video. Now I have to go back to Itlay and spend a year traveling throuhg the hill towns and the Dolomites.

i must correct you about one thing: The first tunnel through a mountain in the alps was made... by the ancient romans. Even "back in the time" they didn't necessarely had to make it to the top and back down.
You could spend a lifetime discovering places in Italy!!! We are going on our first trip soon!!! One of our stops is in Vico Equense. it is close to Castellamere. Thank you for showing us lesser known places that are just as beautiful as the famous ones!!!
Well I'm Italian, I'm 62 yo and he has visited towns I've never heard about before. This can give you an idea of how many places you can potentially discover. There's simply too much.
I lived in Italy for many, many years. I still go there 2 or 3 times a year. I currently live in France. There is no comparison between Italian and French food. Italian food is 100 times better. It is very difficult to find a bad restaurant in Italy. In France the food is bad - and bad everywhere. I have no idea where their reputation for gastronomy comes from.
I live in Torino and I own a house in Laigueglia (It's the town near Andora) in Liguria. Nice to see places I know so well in this video. I'm glad you chose to go in Riviera di Ponente instead of the usual Cinque Terre. Well done!

"Galleggiamo nel caos" ottima definizione dell'Italia e degli italiani, ma è anche grazie al caos delle nostre diversità, se siamo cosi ricchi e vitali, nell'arte, architettura, storia, gastronomia, ecc.
I had plans to do the same giorni once I retired but I was planning a two years journey. Unfortunately my life took a different direction. I can only imagine the different views and different tastes, it would really take a lifetime to visit, see and taste Italy. Within few miles, the taste and view has changed and everything is like a different world and a different life. Thank you for proving my thoughts.
Next time, rent a bike! Something Italian, like a Ducati Multistrada: you can cover bigger distances and ride! 😉 Italy is probably one of the best countries for bikers: a lot of passes, fantastic roads... As a biker I think to be very lucky to live the Eastern Dolomites...
my only complaint is that this video should have been edited into a 2 hour experience…. lingering longer in each place. i am traveling with a tour group to sicily and southern/middle italy next spring and your videos are proving to be so informative.
Nice video, I think in Piemonte you never eat so late like in the south or in spain. It changed a lot because now most of the people living in Torino has southern origin, but, usually we eat at 19:30-20.
Spring is probably the best season, weather-wise: not too hot in the South, not too cold on Northern mountains. Only, try to avoid Easter holiday period and the April 25th long w-e (in 2025 it'll be on a friday.) On those occasions, domestic tourism is frantic. Being retired, we have learned to make our travel and holidays throughout the entire year… but the holidays season (july-august), saving money and stress by crowding.
finally someone who understand, a lot of people visit one or two of the big italian cities and be like oh that's what italy is like, well i like it/ don't like it. reality is, italy is a lot more than that there is something for everyone you just have to travel and find your place. it's the same feeling i have when people say i have eaten italian pizza and i don't like itm and i am like do you even know that here in italy there are like 50 different way to cook a pizza (not talking about ingredient but entirely different cooking method), which means that you don't like one of those ways rather than "italian pizza" and you should instead try different ones because there are so many different styles that it's basically impossible to not find one you like.
Absolutely, you’ve nailed it! Italy is so much more than the big cities, and it has layers of culture, food, and experiences that vary from region to region. And you're totally right about the pizza! With so many different ways to prepare it across Italy, there’s bound to be one that captures everyone’s taste. Thanks for understanding and sharing that insight-it’s what makes exploring Italy so endlessly fascinating!
Bel video. Ritornaci!
Great video 💚🤍❤️ Luvd renting car in Rome & driving all over Italy 🇮🇹 and speaking some Italian when lost helped LOL Get car 🚘 that is not hatchback so you can lock things up in truck people can’t see into to steal luggage etc.
I ate carbonara and risotto alla Milanese on my recent trip to Italy. I've had carbonara before, but this one was outstanding, and it wasn't even from a high-priced restaurant. I liked the risotto too.
yeah, so many good dishes, and so many more to discover too. Carbonara is on another level in Italy if you've ever had it outside of Italy, it doesn't compare.
Amazing video and preview of what we’re going to see for our first travel to Italy in April 2025! Thanks for going through the country and the nuisance of a road trip to Italy. 🇮🇹 p.s. the outro was hilarious 😂
at 46:15 the lady says that people in Selva di Val Gardena speak Ladin, not Latin 🤣🤣. Ladin, not to be confused with latin, is a language mainly spoken in the Dolomite Mountains in Northern Italy by the Ladin people (approximately 30,000 people).
As an italian, you can feel the hate from the north to the south, nobody wants to give explenations lol, but at least this is also an Italian characteristic, even the small towns have a long time rivalries that will last forever as goliardism and more.
The use of the word "hate" is something a little bit exaggerated, but it's a term that fits a "social network" fashion. But if you use the words "complain" or "blame", you can understand that the different lands have obviously different life-style but at least that big habit in common, for sure. Northern Italians may be harder than southerns in some aspects (and viceversa), but they are not all that stupid
I saw a video of Guga about Italy and I was offended by the arrogance with which he represented our country in the video.... then I saw yours and I only have one question, How is it possible that it is not viral? Thanks
Just an info about marche region. We got the 2nd place into the lonely planet guide as place to visit all around the world in 2019 the 1st was Sahara desert unlucky for us the follow tourism period, was the covid time so at the end we didn't have any boost from the tourism. Good video and really You find THE WAY to explore italy, yes Roma, Torino , Venezia, Milano, Napoli but the real italy is the countryside Happy flying
the mountains of N. Tuscany are the marmor cave mountains of Carrara, the nearby city. Apuane Alps, so called, they're not alpine region, only the the form reminds it. Nice experience tho!
Evry time i travel for long time or long distance and i come back in Florence and pass with the car by Piazzale Michelangelo i always wonder why i left.
Hi Gregor. I've been curious, watching some of your videos. When you go for a morning run with your camera, do you lug that thing the entire way, or do you have someone to pass it off to after filming a short segment? Inquiring minds want to know! 🙂
I still don't understand where it comes the "you cannot have cappuccino in the afternoon in Italy". No one will deny you, a lot of people choose it as energyzer if they don't like coffee. I drink it -.- WHO INVENTED THIS? WHO DARES! MAMMAMIA!!!
What is Italy? It's a no-country, but about 20 many diferent countries with 20 cousin and food, 20 diferent races, lengoages, architectures. From the north with germany and franch people, to south with greek, arab, Vikings.... The biggest biodiversity of in the planet. Why to visite one european country, when in Italy you can visit 20 in one? Oh I forgot, in Sardinia the beaches are more beautiful than the Caribbean.
Great video and thanks for showing my country to the world! The Piedmont pasta you ate is pronounced tah-yah-reen though. Great video! If i am not wrong you talked about Oropa where a huge sanctuary was ereceted, it is a pity you did not publish some videos from there but i guess you had to cut some parts for obvious reasons. Keep up the good work.
Waze worked great all over italy. Do yourself a favor and wander aimlessly around the countryside. Stay in a tiny town. Just fabulous. Renting a car was easy. Get the international drivers license at AAA. Some people say you dont need it but just to be in the safe side.
you miss the most particular region of Italy.. Sardegna (Sardinia) and you miss 3 of the top 10 best beach in the world. Maybe with Trentino-Alto Adige the best looking region in Italy

It will be amazing, not just ok! May in Italy is a dream. :)
The land of focaccia genovese (I'm referring to the Liguria part of the video), as focaccia is more from Puglia I would say
finally someone who understand, a lot of people visit one or two of the big italian cities and be like oh that's what italy is like, well i like it/ don't like it. reality is, italy is a lot more than that there is something for everyone you just have to travel and find your place. it's the same feeling i have when people say i have eaten italian pizza and i don't like itm and i am like do you even know that here in italy there are like 50 different way to cook a pizza (not talking about ingredient but entirely different cooking method), which means that you don't like one of those ways rather than "italian pizza" and you should instead try different ones because there are so many different styles that it's basically impossible to not find one you like.
Viva l'Italia ❤
When you were in Genova on the Sopraelevata you drove past my apartment building😂
Oh. That's crazy
Bel video. Ritornaci!
All is fine but the car! You should drive an Alfa Giulia at least, when in Italy. 😁
Maybe one day!
Great video 💚🤍❤️ Luvd renting car in Rome & driving all over Italy 🇮🇹 and speaking some Italian when lost helped LOL Get car 🚘 that is not hatchback so you can lock things up in truck people can’t see into to steal luggage etc.
good idea!
Laughing out loud at that ending! Thanks for the great overview of Italy! Leaving in 2 days for Firenze, 3rd trip to Italy, hope to make many more!
haha, glad you liked that
Auguri
Finally in Turin! 😄
I told you I was working on something.
Italy is God’s own country
Tipo quello staterello in Medio oriente? 😉😄
This is helpful! I love this!!! Thanks Gregor 😊
You're so welcome!
Hey I've done road trips all over Italy, I live in Ortisei, in north east italy , come visit haha, will watch this video tonight
Have fun!
Amazing video and preview of what we’re going to see for our first travel to Italy in April 2025! Thanks for going through the country and the nuisance of a road trip to Italy. 🇮🇹 p.s. the outro was hilarious 😂
Glad it was helpful!
at 46:15 the lady says that people in Selva di Val Gardena speak Ladin, not Latin 🤣🤣.

It's just Notherners being racist. That's how they cope for living in dull and boring places.
hate...its too much.
I saw a video of Guga about Italy and I was offended by the arrogance with which he represented our country in the video.... then I saw yours and I only have one question, How is it possible that it is not viral? Thanks
Ciao Gregor, saluti da Desenzano del Garda!
Grazie
Just an info about marche region. We got the 2nd place into the lonely planet guide as place to visit all around the world in 2019 the 1st was Sahara desert unlucky for us the follow tourism period, was the covid time so at the end we didn't have any boost from the tourism. Good video and really You find THE WAY to explore italy, yes Roma, Torino , Venezia, Milano, Napoli but the real italy is the countryside
Happy flying
the mountains of N. Tuscany are the marmor cave mountains of Carrara, the nearby city.
Apuane Alps, so called, they're not alpine region, only the the form reminds it.
Nice experience tho!
Thank you!
Welcome!
TAIARIN...😂 my mother made them by hand..(not tajarin)
Perfect ending!!😂
Bravo!
Greetings from Liguria ✌️
Hello there!
15:20 the photo with the statue and the other one with the fountain are not from Rapolano, that is Perugia wich is in umbria
The footage in this video is not all in order, it's laid out two convey feelings, not as a tourist guide.
Grande Cristina! 😂😂😂
Evry time i travel for long time or long distance and i come back in Florence and pass with the car by Piazzale Michelangelo i always wonder why i left.
1:10 Cadiz?
Hi Gregor. I've been curious, watching some of your videos. When you go for a morning run with your camera, do you lug that thing the entire way, or do you have someone to pass it off to after filming a short segment? Inquiring minds want to know! 🙂
Yes I do! But the footage when I run is done off my smartphone. I always just run with it in my hand.
🇮🇹❤🔝
I still don't understand where it comes the "you cannot have cappuccino in the afternoon in Italy".
No one will deny you, a lot of people choose it as energyzer if they don't like coffee. I drink it -.-
WHO INVENTED THIS? WHO DARES! MAMMAMIA!!!
E poi invita a visitare l'Abruzzo?
What is Italy? It's a no-country, but about 20 many diferent countries with 20 cousin and food, 20 diferent races, lengoages, architectures. From the north with germany and franch people, to south with greek, arab, Vikings.... The biggest biodiversity of in the planet. Why to visite one european country, when in Italy you can visit 20 in one?
Oh I forgot, in Sardinia the beaches are more beautiful than the Caribbean.

ITaly is a Country since the time of Augustus, please stop with those absurd theories
You must be very tired of the long journey and just waiting to crash, now get plenty of rest.😊
