You can clearly see Edwards slowly coming down and Brad held his line, not going below the yellow line. Anyone blocking at Daytona or Talladega should expect this outcome. Great racing!!!
I think you’re missing something not mentioning the Chase race in 2008 as a precursor. When Regan Smith got robbed of a win for doing the right thing it put the thought into the drivers minds of “well who cares what happens to the guy in front of me.”
HiredGun 05 you telling me you would lift in that situation I now I sure as hell wouldn’t Carl tried to force em below the yellow line so he would win the race even if he passed em all brad did was hold it on the bottom and keep his foot in it
As an old Carl Edwards fan I love and hate this race. I was a fan of him since I was born. 14 years now and I still love to watch replays of this race.
I've been a big fan of Brad's ever since Travis wrecked Brad out in the truck race. I almost lost it watching Brad win this race. Talladega is my favorite track and for Brad to get his very 1st cup win there was and is so very special to me.
My first ever cup race in person. And I just learned the sponsor of Brad’s car we’re descendants of the original Miccosukee Tribe that once raced horses and ruled Alabama until they were forced out. They cursed the land for those that would inhabit the land in the future. Crazy how everything comes full circle.
I feel for Regan Smith who had his win handed to Stewart because Regan went below the yellow line to avoid a wreck in simular situation in a previous race. Brad would have crossed the finish line first if he would have gone below the yellow line but Nascar would have stripped him of his win also. And noone could have known that Edwards car would end up in the fence.
I probably should know this by now, but why does the "no passing below the line" rule exist? Is it to keep wrecks from happening, or do drivers have some sort of unfair advantage? Anybody know?
The yellow line was originally painted so from a suggestion by Dale Earnhardt sr in 1998 when both him and Bill Elliott were taken out by Ward Burton at Talladega. Ward mistakenly went below it in the tri-oval causing him to drift into Earnhardt, which caused Earnhardt to hit Elliott sending both into the wall. This of course wasn't the first time Earnhardt was taken out in a wreck like this. 2 years earlier Ernie Irvan took out Sterling Marlin and Dale Earnhardt in similar fashion. The rule itself didn't come into effect though until 6 years later I believe.
I saw Carl Edwards Drive Shaft when that car was in the air coming toward us, obviously it's painted white because of that and I was at Brad Keselowski first win... Keselowski to the 48 when Jimmie Johnson retires
I love videos like this, with the driver's insights. However, knowing that the driver is reading from a pre written statement, it kinda kills the mood.
There's nothing wront with that move, Brad. Just bad luck, it's too hard for Carl (and any driver) to quickly react that you were down there and avoid contact. He tried to block you but you were on his side
let's just forget the fact that woman got her face disfigured because of wreck at the end of this race Brad keselowski didn't care about the well-being of the fans in the stands that day and I've seen the woman she did a interview a year later after this accident
William Wilson that’s dumb. Brad Keselowski did nothing wrong. He raced within the rules. If anything this is on NASCAR...Brad played by their rules and the precedent they set when they took the win away from Regan Smith when Tony Stewart forced him below the yellow line at Talladega
That is a PERFECT example of why that type of "blocking" should be **OUTLAWED** & PUNISHED extra harshly! The design of the cars should not be so 'aero-dependent' and/or 'carb-restricted', as to result in such a reliance on various "drafting" techniques (i.e., bump-, side-, multi-car-, etc...); which, without exception, culminates in multiple, extremely dangerous, multiple-car accidents at speeds around 200mph, at the SuperSpeeways (Daytona & Talladega), each year. If the driver in front doesn't have a car capable of staying in front, then he/she doesn't deserve to win. Period.
The only issue is that at that speed there will always be draft because they are moving so fast and without the wings on them that do make the draft bigger they would be damn near undrivable even with all the aero they are so unstable that if possible at 'dega or Daytona you could push the rear of the car with your hand and it would go around. At that speed aero is always going to exist. Those cars at low speeds are doing 90-100 even with no contact and no draft they're still human and still make mistakes and it's always a dangerous sport no matter what you do.
@@weirdguy2265 That's not necessarily the case. If you design the cars to where their shape is not as aerodynamic (more like the boxy-type design of cars, say of the 1980's & 1990's); where they wouldn't have any (or a very, very small) spoiler/wing on the car. Then, there would be almost no "drafting"; but, there reaching would be lots closer to the actual roots/spirit of what NASCAR Racing has always been about: hard-charging, never-give-up attitude.
So I guess if one car isn’t as fast as 40 other in a pack they are slow and don’t deserve to win, you never heard the phase the draft is the great equalizer. The reason why anybody who starts the race has a chance it is all about the moves the driver makes and avoid crashes to be there at the end all the drivers have capable cars to win that type of race
@@tannerluckenbaugh6318, You obviously have never seen any of the honest-to-goodness, REAL (old fashioned) NASCAR races, then, have you? You're probably too young to remember when it was about who had the best mechanics, the best factory-designed car, and the best/most courageous driver; and not about who could knock the most good cars out of their way to win (win at whatever the cost). Go back & watch some of the racing from the early 1970's to the early 1990's; and you'll see some REAL racing.
Yeah, but the big difference is that Carl intentionally wrecked him at Atlanta, and should have been suspended and heavily fined. It was completely premeditated and disgraceful. The Talladega incident was purely a racing incident. Neither driver was to blame, as Carl's only chance was to block him, and Brad's only chance was to not go below the yellow line. Carl came down, Brad was already there, and Brad simply held his line.
Basically what UAHFAN was saying Carl wrecked Brad on purpose in Atlanta but Talladega was completely just racing Carl tried to block Brad but blocked him to late and turned himself
Utterly poetic the native American backed car chased by the army and national guard backed car forced into a difficult situation and forced to survive by any means. Just like the tribe that escaped the forced relocation
NASCAR set the precedent when they black flagged Regan, the finish was gonna happen this way inevitably
BRAD KESELOWSKI WON THIS RACE
Larry Mac🤣🤣
Ah brad keslowski won this race
Kes-e-lowski
"It was either be black flagged or win the race. I chose to win the race."
A rivalry was born
And recently interesting that Keselowski will soon join forces with the organization that Carl drove for during that time😂!

Well I Agreed With Brad Keselowski Of Heart Pounding Moments And It's Even For Me
To this day, Keselowski still ain't lifting.
It's the same with Logano. If ya' can't beat 'em you just wreck 'em.
HiredGun 05 you telling me you would lift in that situation I now I sure as hell wouldn’t Carl tried to force em below the yellow line so he would win the race even if he passed em all brad did was hold it on the bottom and keep his foot in it
Can’t wait to see Jeff in iRacing
Brad did nothing wrong it was a racing matter
As an old Carl Edwards fan I love and hate this race. I was a fan of him since I was born. 14 years now and I still love to watch replays of this race.
Keselowski's joining Roush-Fenway!!
Knowing iRacing, anyone could win Sunday...
iracing's bank account will win
Welcome to Talladega. where ALL bets are off.
Maybe dale while get back to victory lane if he gets to the front he gone be blocking like crazy

i was there right past the start finish line! great video! and such a great race!

TNTMan93 to avoid crashes... which it proves it does not.
Kinda off topic but love your vids bro

He went to the back and still won

@Tristan Ellis Vlogs what makes you think so?
Good win Brad. It's not you're fault for wrecking Edwards
You know it’s a big wreck when your spotter says “good luck” 😂
i'm a little shorter than keselowski himself. 5' 4.5"
I love videos like this, with the driver's insights. However, knowing that the driver is reading from a pre written statement, it kinda kills the mood.
I feel a strong need to correct a mistake I observed. That radiator you hit came from the 71 car of David Gilliland. Not Jeff Gordon's 24.
Nothing wrong Carl clearly came down sad that Carl though he had to get even
I miss Carl
ziggy z yeah me too
edwards would have gone higher and allowed keselowski to pass him low enough to get the win.
Great video liked👍🏁🏆
Can we do more of these breakdowns?
Brad is the man. He did nothing wrong because that yellow line does not discriminate (unless your name is Dale Jr.)
Nice to see the underdog team win
He did the right thing
499th like 😏
Big Edwards fan but I agree with what everyone else is saying. Carl put a block that wasn’t going to work, Brad did nothing wrong.
Good job 👏🏽 brad good tactic
I think Brad meant the big one was on lap 7
Nascar made you do that because of what Tony did to Regan Smith and got away with it
There's nothing wront with that move, Brad. Just bad luck, it's too hard for Carl (and any driver) to quickly react that you were down there and avoid contact. He tried to block you but you were on his side
11 years tomorrow
I was there...
Woa Brad growing a beard
Carl wrecked himself, if your gonna throw a block you better be clear of his bumper. Carl wasnt
You get one shot at blocking, but you don't get two.

Well, considering the wreck was Edwards' fault, I'm not sure why you are writing retarded comments that show your lack of intelligence.
When are you all going to race again

underdog win in 2009
I hope Brad has that car in his garage.
carl watching this:
well f***
Ryan Newman probably like ….
No I thought it was BS when Carl cowardly did the same to you when you were totally defenseless in Atlanta
This video is so absurdly scripted its incredible. Like, I've never seen a video about Nascar with so little passion behind it.
Imma win one of those someday
BigBoiSalad wins the Geico 500 at Talladega!
Bet he doesn't feel the same about that Atlanta race where he went flying into the catch fence. 🙄

Did what you had to do Champ.
Maybe you guys can get drivers to not read off a script...
yeet
2nd
First
Its still video gamed? Somebody wake me up when it gets real.
Mid-May at Darlington is looking like the return
I’m actually excited for Talledega iracing
:)
Boooooo you wrecked to win
Carl wrecked himself when he came down and Brad was already there. The blame lies 100% on Edwards and the idiotic yellow line rule at Talladega.
1 no he didn't carl turned across brads car
2 wouldn't matter anyway rubbing is racing
