Hong Kong is a city that sits on the eastern Pearl River Delta in South China. It is a special administrative area of China. Hong Kong is one of the world's most developed cities and is a significant global financial hub.
In 1841, the Qing Empire relinquished Hong Kong Island, and the British Empire thereafter founded Hong Kong as a colony. In 1860, the colony was extended to the Kowloon Peninsula, and in 1898, Britain was granted a 99-year lease over the New Territories. China took full ownership of the territory in 1997. Hong Kong maintains distinct political and economic systems from those of the Chinese mainland as one of the country's two special administrative territories. The other territory is Macau.

I was born in Guilin, Guangxi province of China during the world war in 1944 when my medical father from HKU was assisting the Chinese Red Cross. Father was shipped out to HK by military plane leaving my mother & me to go to Kunming to take an arranged flight to HK. Father went back to work at Queen Mary Hospital before being recalled back to Thailand by his parents.I was sent back at the age of 12 to study in 3 schools in HK for 9 years before going to college in America. From 1971 onwards, I have been visiting HK many times for business, with classmates, friends, & relatives. The last visit was in 2014 & missed 2019 due to an accident. I traveled the world many times & rated HONG KONG AS THE BEST CITY IN THE WORLD!
