Then when I moved back up to NE Ohio I invested in a fleet of freighter canoes which are the same....great cargo carriers for skinny water using small outboard. But I couldn't educate the regional folks and the business failed. This is a niche market for sure. But once you own one you see the advantages. Thanks for sharing! Rich

I grew up in Homeland and Peace River was just a mile away. me and my friends always talked about spending a week on the River, but we could never get our parents to go along with the idea and be willing to pick us up at the end near the Gulf.

Thats a good place to eat. do they still have the shop in the back with the meg teeth & old out board motors ? the old owner had a big collection of meg teeth Dennis was his name i think. he told me his spots like 20 years ago.
I've been canoeing and kayaking the river there for 35 years and it gets pretty shallow in spots this time of year, especially above Nocatee - there are places between Nocatee and Arcadia I've had to get out and pull my kayak. The best fossiling is above Arcadia.
@@OverlandFlorida I always check the water level on the Arcadia Canoe Outpost website before heading out. Also, the tide does have an effect as far up river as Nocatee and even a little beyond. Sometimes in winter the river flows backward from the tide where you launched from and beyond, lol.
I kayak and hammock camp Peace River several times a year. I put in at Bartow or Homeland and go to Gardener. Never been further south. Much narrower up here. Awesome boats, I don't think they would work north of Hardee county line bridge without a lot of dragging
The boat is a Riverhawk B60. It's 15'9 long. 60 inches at thr widest point. I think it's a 2008. I have a 2018 tohatsu 20hp that moves the boat 30mph. I get around 20mpg as long as I'm not going up a river.
Ok, so the tahatsu 20hp currently on the boat is a 2-stroke engine? So mabey a 25HP would bump up the speed to around 35 mph, which for a boat that size I'd think would be plenty.
Thx for sharing. Why aren’t you using your GPS ChartPlotter maps, or even the Navionics App on your phone, they’re real time, real position? They have the depths of the waters, at least for a reference, and trim that motor before running aground🤔

That`s the same boat you bought used it cleaned up nice you took out the center well but it had a Honda 20 hp. what happened to that . I have been in that river and found a lot of Sharks Teeth .
Are you guys a club? The reason I ask is because my wife and me just got our second 4Runner TRD Pro. We traded our first one and I want to introduce her to the “reason” lol we needed the Pro.
Do you know how to judge water depth by the color of the water ?....As water lightens up it's getting shallow. The darker water is deeper. Sand shoals can be fairly accurately judged by the shape of the stream.
@@OverlandFlorida 2 adults, 2 toddlers, probably around 500lbs all together with minimal gear. Freshwater lakes/rivers I don’t plan to travel very far from home.
As a former member of the Coast Guard and a lifetime boater that practices safety underway on boats large and small, I would like to suggest that when you guys are running this boat, please wear those low profile auto inflatable PFDs. Keeping your PFDs in a compartment really does no good in protecting your lives in case you go overboard.

There are some biggens there.
Attach a jack plate to your transom. And move forward with a handle extension. You won’t have problems in shallow water anymore.

Yes, it’s stable for 2 people to fish out of. It’s the most stable tiny boat. You can both even stand on the same side.

It cost roughly $100 to do my whole boat. I used 2 and 1/3 sheets of it. It was $34.99 a sheet on Amazon.

You need a se sport 200 hydrofoil on your motor if your boat is going up and down.
It was just too much weight in the rear. No need for a hydrofoil, just have to distribute the weight.
I like gheenoes, but I really like yours with the wood deck in it, did it come that way or did you add it yourself, thx for the vid.
I did it all myself. It's fake wood. It's just a rubber flooring.

I do know how. With the rain we have been having the water is dark with tanic acid so it can be tricky.

The B60 has a false floor. So I screwed it to the floor.

I never worry about alligators. You just have to know in the back of your head that they are around.

Those safety power cut-off leads are designed to go around the wrist, just on the watch risks it falling off potentially.
