- This episode I can argue is possibly one of the best episodes so far of the season in some respects. It introduces Himari as a viable love interest and rival, it explores Akane's feelings that were touched on last episode where she feels jealousy when other women are close with Saito, AND we see here she is forced to legitimately confront her feelings when pushed into a corner. She hasn't confessed her feelings and honestly Akane doesn't fully understand that she is falling in love with Saito, but thye both realize that they don't hate each other and I suspect likewise Saito realizes possibly how Akane really feels about him thus the stunt at the end of the episode to get her to stop him from going on the date. Although this episode in areas felt rushed it was great, though I feel this episode proved to me 1) Akane took a big step in her relationship with Saito but 2) I think she has to also have a serious heart to heart with Himari and not decieve her as Himari has shown herself to really value their friendship. Akane does as well which is why she chooses to help Himari without realizing that it was in conflict with her actual feelings. I think she HAS to speak to Himari and come clean.

Synopsis: High school student Saito Houjo has married his classmate, Akane Sakuramori, the girl who is his biggest rival at school. The two can't seem to get along with each other, but their heart-pounding newlywed life is about to begin!
4:39 Detective Akane is back but in this show instead😂. Gotta say the comedy is on point in this anime
@@Litgaming776 this anime is such a hidden gem did not expect it to be this good. Akane > Akane btw 👀🤣🤣
Shisei in talking about living between his legs, shown such great loyalty, attending to his "needs."
@@dpolaristar4634 sure Saito doesn’t mind 🤣 Shise is loyal man I’ll give her that 🤣🤣
Okay remember how I said this series originally started as a UA-cam comic short series, until it was made into a LN adaptation.
Where A lot of the pacing problems is coming from them adapting the LN version which is rewritten to have slightly more complex motives and more plotlines and character interactions around the core set pieces of the original UA-cam shorts, however they are adapting it with the pacing of the UA-cam shorts in mind, so it feels more rushed and mixed.
Like when Sheiso basically asks Akane if she can tell her what she's really feeling in her own heart, In the Novels Akane runs away in fear to hear her true feelings confirms rather than the scene just cutting, for instance.
I'm afraid this show is now tied with Crush At Work because the adaptation is showing its flaws while Crush as Work has made itself remain fresher longer than I thought with some couple drama of its own. (Its more quickly solved but what is shown is still well done.)
@@dpolaristar4634 i still need to catch up on Crush at Work 🙈 I have to upload episode 2 but goal is to catch up next week. That said really happy for this explanation because it explains a lot. The random cuts and sudden progression seemed very fast paced and that would explain why. The Shise seen and ultimately the cut between her internal struggle and Saito leaving for the date were very abrupt. I don’t mind the story moving, but I feel it’s a miss on a valuable chance to have fleshed out Akane’s character and her struggles more. All the pieces were there and could have been accomplished with extra time this episode and also next episode before having the Saito and Akane resolution scene we got near the end. Definitely going to check out the LN version to get some of that detail
You weren't paying attention but literally at the beginning, before she said she liked Saito, she asked Akane if she liked Saito, and when Akane denied it, that is when Himari then was like "I like him."
She was literally asking permission if he was "taken."
At 2:33 (show time stamp) I saw when she asked Akane if she liked Saito. But I was still finishing my thought regardless on the her and Akane stuff. But then when she outright says she likes Saito then I was like !!!!
Again like I said, Himari has shown herself to be a good friend ultimately and gave Akane an out when she asked if she liked Saito. What sucks for me is that Himari has been fully forthcoming meanwhile Akane has not. I get in Akane’s eyes she doesnt like Saito (doesn’t yet realize her feelings) but still sucks that she is lying to Himari about the living situation and now developing an unintentional rivalry towards Himari because she doesn’t want to lose Saito.
@@lenardgj1x214 She also wants Himari to be happy and probably thinks she'll break Himari's heart by telling her no to her desire.
@@dpolaristar4634side note i didnt get to the novel yet but checked out the manga. In terms of Akane’s characterization (which I think is done better than in the anime) Akane doesn’t like to let people down and if things are going wrong she has a tendency to sacrifice her own wellbeing to preserve the happiness of others. So similarly here she cares about Himari and in addition to not fully realizing her feelings she also is intentionally holding back because she feels she needs to adjust so others she cares about (Himari) can be happy…but sadly at her expense 😔
@@lenardgj1x214 I already got that from the anime tbh.
I haven't read further than volume 1 for the LN but I'm up to date with the manga, and you're right that compared to the manga at least, they've skipped a few scenes this episode and they are rushing the scenes imo. Like there was a scene in the manga just after she stopped Saito from going to the date with Himari where they went to the grocery store. Also there is one thing that the anime didn't touch that the manga made very clear, but I won't say because they could reveal it later. I'm sad because it felt rushed, for example they didn't let the time for the tension to reach its maximum in the scene where Saito is about to go the date with Himari, which make the scene less impactful than in the manga.
@@cedricmichaud552 yeah 😔 my goal is also to check out the light novel which my understanding is it had even more detail. Don’t get me wrong this episode was really good. But feels like there’s missing potential because the buildup was there and then it got rushed through which erased all of that tension and buildup we were getting (of note the Shise scene, the dinner scene and ultimately Saito and Akane’s date).
So in terms of this episode it really did feel like we resolved this whole thing with Himari too quickly so yeah the pacing of this episode was off and I agree that if Akane is Himari's friend she should tell her what their situation is and especially now that she sees her as a rival she absolutely has to come clean or it would be unfair and deceptive especially since Himari has respected Akane and her feelings towards Saitou.
In terms of skipped content alot of Akane's inner thoughts and feelings during that whole conversation with Himari at the beginning was cut. She feels that she and Saito are not going to have feelings for each other since their marriage is in name only and wants to support her friend. This whole episode was her struggling to be honest with herself and her feelings. To be honest what was skipped would have given alot more context to why Akane is struggling to be honest with Saito in the first place and made her confession to Saito feel alot more satisfying and would have explained why Saito chose to test her in this way. Its unfortunate that they skipped some scenes in an effort to condense this whole arc in one episode. Im sure we'll still get some of the stuff they skipped but with it not being in the context of this episode Im sure some fans of the manga will feel sour about it.
I must say that Ive always been a fan of Shise's weirdness but her putting in Akane in her place elevated my love for her character.
@@Sara-ce5wr in defense of my Shise hate I actually like her character when she’s on the side and has brief moments of humor and pointed advice. But episode 4 was too much Shise for me 😂😂. Now all of that said that’s really nice insight regarding Akane’s thoughts. I think in watching the episode you can conclude the issue stems from her not accepting her relationship with Saito as real. She outright mentions it also when talking with Saito about why he should date her…that said, it shouldn’t have to be something we guess or assume in this instance so yes getting her thoughts would have been nice from the start.
I think ultimately Akane will tell Himari the truth, but sadly may not happen until she fully comes to terms with her liking Saito. This episode established the marriage does have significance and she doesn’t hate Saito. Now she has to realize that she actively has feelings for him and loves him…this will probably then force her to tell Himari because she’ll feel she is acting dishonestly…but again while this is the defense for Akane I’d argue we are well past that point she needed to say something earlier on lol 🙈.
I thought it was obvious she liked Saito and the "hunch" is Yuri cope brain rot.
@@dpolaristar4634 i said it I think in the episode 1 or 2 reaction that I felt it was Saito she liked. It’s the only option that made sense to me, but then I big brained myself since shows sometimes go the yuri route. But again I always thought it was Saito lol
