The Datsun 120Y Coupe. My favourite Datsun. I never owned one but always loved the styling. My best friend who lived next door had a mustard yellow 120Y four door sedan. It was automatic, and very slow. This 120Y Coupe is a beautiful restoration.
Haven't seen a first gen 120Y coupe since I was a child! Always loved the shape of this car. There are still a couple of sedans running around where I live in Barbados, but the coupes and estates have all disappeared. Happy to see this one being saved and kept completely stock. As for the music, "Big In Japan" is on my current playlist, but I haven't heard "Japanese Boy" since it was new back in 1981.
Thanks David, the car (a one owner car) had actually been sold to a scrap dealer, but luckily for me, my mates dad works for the company picking up the scrap cars and saw the car was too good to scrap. The rest is history as they say. I have since met the original owner who loves the fact that I saved it and kept it totally stock. I'm glad you like the music as most times, finding the music to go with the video is the hardest part of making it. I had to have something fitting for the car.
@@geoffdundee thanks for your reply, like you I have spent the last 2 years restoring a Toyota Tercel 4x4 1987 so say only 5 left on the road, and at 70 years old have just started showing ,to my suprise it is very popular, perhaps breaking bad has something to do with it kind regards Mike
Brilliant cars

@@Hotrodngaz Thank you for your swift reply! I'm a big fan of quirky styling, and I love to see cars like this being restored.

@@mikerich8714 I'm sure your hard work will reward you in satisfaction alone Mike. These cars are part of our heritage.
Butifull
Anyone spot the green car at 1:38 ? Triumph Acclaim? Nissan?
It was a Datsun Sunny 1.5 GL owned by a local Sikh. He used it as a daily for years, sadly not there now :(
@@Hotrodngaz shame it's not still on the road.
it's ugly AF, but the 4 door variant was my dad's first car, and for that it will forever hold a place in my heart.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :)
