    Appreciate the content fellas. Could you do a video on the effects if any of the thicker SuperStroke grips vs traditional grip like TW’s ping grip as it relates to path/face rotation?

    Great video. I have 7 putters all different styles and lengths which change in and out of the bag over the years. Some just out of the bargain bag and others fitted using the latest tech. More recent years moved to a 35” Spider, more out easing some biomechanics discomfort. The advantage of the fitting is it saves you all the experimentation and space in the club cupboard! Great content enjoy watching every day!

    Sweet! I have the Fetch putter.. I had back surgery 3 yrs ago and I love that I’m not having to bend over as much throughout the round. I feel I can finish stronger on the last few holes where before I could tell my back wasn’t as fresh.

    I bought the Sigma 2 Tyne 4 mainly as an experiment to try out different putter lengths. I am 6' 3" and usually use a 35" putter. After taking this putter out and trying different lengths from 36 to 32, I keep coming back to 32.75" for the most consistent results and more solid feeling putts for me. Really a good putter and I am using it for what I thought was going to be an experimental putter.

      It's interesting how putter length and overall fitting in my personal experience (24 years old and obsessed with golf from a very young age) is very personal. What I mean by that is there's an "ideal" posture that the majority of teaching professionals, etc. would want to see a player in for best performance but it seems to be that it's not black and white when fitting putters. Example of this is your comment being 6 foot 3 and liking a relatively short putter while I am a couple inches taller (honestly measured at 6 foot 5 by my doctor haha) and I feel WAY more comfortable and perform best with (ATLEAST a 37 inch putter), I am currently using a 38 inch putter and I honestly want to try even longer as I like the more upright posture and have tended to miss left as a right handed golfer. I'm going to actually buy an old 40-45 inch belly putter and find where it feels best. I also don't mind the feeling of gripping down a bit on a putter as it acts (sort of) like counter balancing and stabilization in my opinion. When belly putters were around and in stores I used to try them and they always felt great even though they didn't work as belly putters for me being 6 foot 5 and not having much of a belly (lanky, thin guy). They are some of the only putters that have felt like they fit me from any store I've been to. INTERESTING!

      Durability tests would be great too, since Titleist has reduced the size of the cover by 18% and other manufacturers using new tec, like srixon spin skin, how will these hold up now? Seems like these company's are really making the premium ball for the pro that can just replace the ball after a few holes..

    I have a spider first generation putter at a self modified to 37.5 because my back cannot handle bending over without severe back pain. I put a Super Stroke 5.0 and use a claw grip. I had to adjust my lie angle so when I grip it it is level. I am trying to have a straight back putter stroke with a slight arc. I am putting very well at this length. If you have a bad back and bending over really hurts try lengthening it. It has helped me. I am also 6’ 3” with shorter arms.

    Putting is such a mental game that I’m curious to know how popular putter fitting is. Given the number of times we putt ( too many times for most of us) it makes sense to get fitted. I recall reading that Arnold Palmer would show up on the range with about 30 clubs in his bag; mostly extra drivers and putters. I think if Arnie was still with us he’d have you guys on speed dial.

    That did the opposite for Matty than I thought it would. I would have thought the shorter and more over the putter he was it would have rotated the face less. And the taller he stood that he would rotate the face more. Very interesting! Looking forward to diving deeper into the putters

    I’m 6ft3 and have a 34 inch putter because it’s a face-balanced mallet and you need to be quite bent over to get the forearms straight with the shaft. For me, forearms in line with the shaft is the biggest factor in putting on a line consistently.

    As to be expected, great quintic stuff here guys! My putter fittings regarding length have always been about posture position (read eye over edge of ball) and comfort to the point of gripping blank shaft with putter head attached and simply marking the spot to cut. Historically putted with full toe hang 8802, Palmer original, Tommy Armour blade styles and have aged to face balanced Ping Nome. The putters have gotten shorter as well. Recent fittings have employed a high speed camera with goal of having ball begin roll before it passes left foot (right handed). I was surprised during fitting that my aim changed as length changed... was curious to see if you guys thought of pulling out laser pointer with Matt... delivering square to intended path with loft that initiates roll as soon as possible (changes with stimp no?) will impact confidence from green to green. I'm now on search for slight toe hang as I think I'm missing left too often....Ping adjustable being purchased for my son this season... great growing junior idea Matt! Cheers

    Please don't forget to remind viewers how to read the greens. If PLUMBING one eye is dominant and explain how to establish which eye it is. Ensure the putter shaft is parallel to a known vertical surface - say the edge of a door frame at home - check it with a spirit level 1st, and which edge (closest to hole??) of the putter shaft to set your line to the hole. Aim to strike the middle of the ball with an upward strike from the middle of the putter. Do you recommend starting with the putter resting flat upon the green or hovering in readiness for the mid ball strike?

    Fitted for a putter 7months ago. 6ft tall playing with a 35" shaft toe hang blade type. After fitting 33" shaft and face balanced mallet type. The putter fitted was a regular off the shelf model.Supplier maintained there model was hand assembled.After the fitting fee increased putter cost to 70% more than off the shelf model. Yes do put well with it. Even better after i identified a huge error in my putting stroke. Would i use the supplier again NO.

    First of all, as always, Brilliant! Thank you guys for creating these videos and helping us learn so much. My question is, in general, whether for driver, irons, putter, etc., during a fitting, how much do you guys prefer players relying on strictly the numbers that you get using the technology to determine the best fit versus a player's preferences in terms of the looks and feel of the club? In other words, what's a good balance between what the numbers say is the best fit versus perhaps what 'felt' and 'looks' best to a player? Cheers!

    • @tomdiebold79
      @tomdiebold79 4 роки тому

      It is absolutely changing the swing weight ! So at the extremes (either short or long), it would be a significantly different feel -- whether that suites you are not is somewhat a matter of preference.

    Love you channel and content; I've learned quite a lot. I'm six feet tall and have a 35 inch putter. However, I never hold the putter at the very end but let my hands find their comfortable grip. This leaves about an inch on the butt end of the club. What effect does that have on putting and the swing weight vs. cutting the club down an inch?

    • @tomdiebold79
      @tomdiebold79 5 років тому +1

      I think you are creating a bit of counter balance with extra club above your hands. Cutting it down would definitely change the swing weight. Swing weight was something they did NOT mention in this video. To keep swing weight relatively the same, Evnroll had 385 gram heads for 33", 370 gram heads for 34" and 355 gram heads for 35" putters.

    Let's say I can't get into a fitting center, but I know my putter is too long at 35". Any way to identify the proper length at home? I've previously got some data through SAM showing I hit the ball on the upswing at 3.2 degrees and leave the face open 1.1 degrees (putter is currently 1 degree flat and 2 degrees of loft). Sounds like it might be more of a comfort thing when it comes to putters. So just find a length that feels comfortable to me and go with that and make sure the loft/lie are adjusted to fit the resulting roll?
