Such an AMAZING talent eclipsed too soon. I didn't know who Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings were until I saw them play at The Aladdin Theater in Portland, Oregon. ...that voice...that energy! My friend and I couldn't stay in our seats. We had to get up and dance. What an incredible performance. I just heard her singing "This Land is Your Land" today on my car radio while driving home and just had to find a video to send to my friend in remembrance of that magical evening many years ago. Thank you, Sharon.
I went to see the Dereck Trucks band and she was the warm up band. Oh my God the whole time I was watching Trucks I was thinking of her and that killer band. Her energy was amazing and I had never heard of her, how was that possible! The next year she was gone, a true loss however she will live on with video like this. Thx so much for posting this… an amazing woman and artist backed up by an amazing band!!!!!!
Sharon really brought the house down at every show. I cherish the times I got to see her live, and wish she were still here to share her gift with us. RIP, Queen. You are sorely missed!
Wow. Thank you for this video, because sadly, I will never get to see Sharon Jones sing live. These Dap Kings were not a band i had ever heard of until they were mentioned by The True Loves, another fabulous band whose members paid tribute to the Dap Kings and to Sharon Jones in an interview on KEXP radio. Great things lead to other great things - thanks to all.
In my case it was the other way round; The True Loves were also fronted by a powerhouse vocalist (Grace Love) who went her own way by the time Sharon played her final gigs. Never saw 'the greatest soul band of the 21st century' live either, only on TV and the 'Tube.
Brian Wolfe on drums! Hot friggin’ damn! This performance is as solid as it gets. They say a band is only as good as it’s drummer, and this band is rock solid. Bosco Mann. There aren’t enough superlatives. Bravo all around. Luckily I got to see them not long after this concert when they came to my neck of the woods in Northern California. It was every bit as good as this. Sure do miss you Sharon. A life well lived.
SUCH an underrated video. There were so many moments where I cheered them on together with the audience. If there's any performance that gives you energy for hours, it's this one❤️❤️❤️

I got to see her at a small venue in Memphis- was awesome show. She was in the middle of her fight against the beast, but full of energy.
