food price comparison
micks thai travells
thai traveller
so visited uk up in derbyshire for a period of 5 weeks to see family and friends andv get some things sorted out, now all good
done a few vlogs while there done some really nice walks around derbyshire and in wales and the weather was really good
spring time and all the trees starting to bud, bluebells out and wild garlic in the woods was really nice
the weather in thailand when i set off was brutally hot with temperatures over 40 degrees for nearly 2 months, so it was really nice to have a walk out and it was tee shirt weather as well for walking so very pleasant
in this vlog just going to do a price comparison in the supermarkets and the cost of things in general
now i,m not going on about the cost of housing and gas and electric because we all know thailand is cheaper, but i also know the supermarket prices in alot of cases is cheaper in the uk
when anyone does a price comparison as well you have got to reflect the wage difference
average wage in thailand 350 bht a day = 12 pounds a day
UK min wage 11.45 pounds an hour vast difference
for us westerners bringing a uk pension across to thailand things work out cheaper
but there are other things to factor in
health care free in uk with paramedics in ambulances in emergencies
free bus travel throughout uk for pensioners
in thailand you have to pay for visa and healthcare that can be a big issue if you have health problems
all things have got to be taken into account and least of all the weather, in UK if its cold you put a coat on, in thailand if its very hot your sat under fans or aircon, but thailand people make it for me thats why its the land of smiles
so i dont want to sound negative on thailand or the uk its upto the individual to decide i,m not passing judgement
so enjoy the vlog just a short one on food and prices hope you enjoy links below on previous vlogs from thailand so please write a comment and please like share subscribe and hit that notification bell for more things to come

This is not a comparison it is an opinion! You wasted my time. I expected you to show the same food in Thailand in the stores.
you dont get same food in thailand well not much, but it gives me something else to do
God bless Hendos. They actually sell it in my local mini-mart in Samui.
Brought some Hendon back
Love a Carvery. Mmmmm will have one of these when I get back to the UK.
it was great ,dont know its in kito diet
It's the same in most countries , you eat and drink what the locals do or pay more🎉
It just makes a change that's for comment
They don't farm sheep in Thailand and not many cows in Thailand either very small dairy industry that's really a good thing because there is not good for us learn to love Thai food much more flavorful use a lot more different spices you're coming over to Thailand and expecting to eat English style food it's the same if you compared Thai style food in England it's going to be expensive
Love thai food know all spices but I like Indian spices, eat most things not fussy
I like some street food as well better than restraunts
Thanks for comment
you can shop and eat cheaply in both countries and if you use local brands and not imported brands there is not a lot of difference price wise in my opinion, obviously if you want top grade beef in thailand it will be more expensive or top grade lobster in the uk will be more expensive, but either would be a rare treat for me not every day meals, try to eat as a local in either country and food prices are fair, yes i crave western foods when in thailand and i know i will have to pay a premium for that, i noticed that chicken breast was cheaper than thigh or other parts of the chicken and its the opposite in the uk, thanks for sharing but its difficult to compare like for like when i eat differently in each country, ie rice or noodles rather than potatoes and bread as staples, and shopping and eating habits are different for each person i am quite frugle so look for cheaper options whereas i have friends who spend a lot lot more than me on food, fruit and veg is cheaper at the fresh markets in thailand than the super stores, if you like alcohol beer and spirits are cheaper again if you drink local (non imported) drinks, cheers
its just nice to have a variety love thai food but it makes a change to have something different
All ferang foods are a lot more expensive in Thailand just as all oriental foods are more expensive ive the UK . Fish sauce in uk is £2.80 (130 baht ish) in Khao Suan Kwang Tesco was 25 baht last year, Mama Noodles here are £1.35 to £1.50 ( 55 baht ish) for the small packets here but in 7-11 are about 25 baht. smal eggplants here in a pack of 5 were £7 last week in Leeds or Bradford (320 baht ish) a kg with about 35 to 40 in Khao Suan Kwang market 25 baht ish . Its supply and demand. I bet its the same in Cambodia or Vietnam. Cheese and dairy always has been more expensinve as Thais don,t really do dairy apart from the little yakhult yoghurt drink things. Most big citys in Thialand have an Irish bar or English pub that do a sunday roast but Ive never seen a carvery maybe theres an idea for a business , im sure Thais would love one as they do love a buffet . I find I try to leave ferang foods alone when in LOS and stick to Thai food whoch is far cheaper. I noticed MacDonalds and KFC are chearer in Thailand but not by that much It;s. Scotch whiskey in Thailand or American burbon is far more expensive than the Mekong spirit drink or the SamSong rum stuff , although Im guessing thats more due to import taxes though,+ the Thais cant handle real scotch whiskey as its much more potent than that Hong thong or Blend 123 crap.
I do love trying all types of food use Indian restaurant here
Steaks expensive here but you can't have everything
Variety is the spice of life
Thanks for comment
About same straight though
@@thaitraveller9756 My nearest city here is the curry capital of the uk (Bradford) so when it comes to curries we are spoiled for choice , some of the best curry houses in the UK on my doorstep (well almost abpout 12 miles).
Yeah if you come the Thailand and eat English cuisine can you go to the supermarket to buy food then yes a lot of things are more expensive but if you go to the local markets and buy food it's so much cheaper and eat Thai food
I know but I like things different go to Indian restaurant which I did vlog on
Variety is the spice of life
