Stargazer swallows fish alive.

- Stargazers are often found by Melbourne Divers in Port Phillip Bay.They bury them selves in the sand waiting for unsuspecting fish to swim close by. They position them selves where all the fish action is likely to be. Often found buried in the sand near Pylons or rocky ledges. Fortunately for us they are not 2-3 metres long as they would be more of a threat to swimmers than a White pointer or Salt water Crocodile. This is the type of music I think about when watching aquatic animals eat each other...
indeed
Yeah I turned the volume off, the music is very off-putting, bad and an odd choice.
4:12 Okay, now there's no excuse for this guy getting caught. He must suffer from the worst case of ADD. The guy was just looking at the big guy burying himself right before.
lol maybe he flunked out of fish *school*....get it?
I don’t think fish have much of a short term memory.
Fish are brain dead creatures.
The way it's edging forwards like "IS IT GONE?! IS IT THERE?!"
I looked at that too and no, its a different fish. The one thats caught has a tail thats straight in the back but the one thats looking has a different shaped tail.
😂😂 @ the stingray at the 5:24 mark. That was a "wtf was that" moment.
Fiddler ray or Banjo sharks(local names for this species)
looks like a skate or a guitarfish
LOL
😂😂😂Riigght!
Stingray - What you said?
Stargazer - Umm, nothing. (burrows deeper)
That fish school could crap on stargazer to teach him not be so naughty.
2:30 Fish on the right: "Is that Stargazer really going to try just hiding in a clump of seaweed instead of burying itself? I gotta watch this!"
LMFAOOO AT 4:30 you can see the fish looking terrified inside of its mouth. It’s face is like “:O”
What a superbly adapted animal. I especially like the way it buries itself so quickly with just the little button eyes showing. If you hadn't seen where it buried itself you would never know it was there. But those eyes... how does it keep sand from sticking to them? And what a mouth! It is half or more of its body. I guess that is so it can eat things almost as big as it is. A good plan I think... eat once and then sleep for a week.
I agree it is a super fascinating animal it must pack a crazy digestive system to swallow those fish; you wouldn't typically thing a fish that size could eat another similarly sized fish like that. I also read somewhere that they have bioelectrogenesis and are venomous. So this is a very cool fish and those crazy adaptations are clearly very successful.
Nature is one big horror show
yes and humans are the main act
Lovecraft was on to something
Kowe ngomong opo le
Trueeee
It's more comedy
We have these little guys on the east coast of the US. He has a face only a mother could love but it is his mouth you need watch out for. I caught one about 5 inches long one day. While trying the remove the hook, he lunged forward and bit the end of my right thumb. They don't have teeth but they do have some serious jaw pressure. My thumb was black and blue for days. I dubbed them "Thumb Smashers" after that. I have found fossils of this fish too.
Passed out how could he have bit your thumb when you're a cat! You don't even have thumbs!
(don't take this seriously, it's just a joke)
New England we called them " goosefish" but not sure that was just misinformation.
Those silver fish look so derpy.
That fish at 2:55 was like, "Shit, I'm out of here."
The fish r like"bruh we can see u"
"Gets eaten anyway"
"...no you can't e_e"
I am not the fish you're looking for.
That's exactly what I was thinking!
Fish aren't humans, and you should know by now anyone other than human doesn't have a brain
Never going to the beach or under water ever again
Stargazers don't eat dogs, silly.
I agree
I love how it upchucked the scales
"Upchucked"
@@tyl0r15 yes. Upchucked.
"GET IN MAH BELLY!"

3:02 fish on the ground: “imma head out.”
At 2:40 I was like ' Is he mad? '
Star gazer seeks a bit high falutin--I'd call them Looker Upper Gulpers. What a great world we live on. Such creatures abound and amaze us. Our imaginations cannot grasp the wonder and complexity of it all. Thanks for collecting and sharing all this.
5:24 that flat shark reacted like human being, "I got you"
One of the best fish videos on youtube.
I can't take this seriously with that music xD
thats why i found it also humorous!
Sydney P My dog likes it, came from the other side of the house.
HA! That stargazer fish looks like the trash lady on the Labyrinth movie! "Hey, get off my back!!!"😂😂😂

I love the way it coughs up the scales!
that fish on 2:57 :" I know what you did there " lols

+Dante hollow How about reaction from the ray at 5:25?
+Robert Brown If the ray could talk, it might have said......"The hell was that ??" when he thought he detected some movement to his right.

2:43 Fish on the right: *watches star gazer have a seizure and disappear under the sand.*
Also fish on the right: Ight imma head out...
So, I found out a few months ago, we have an electric "Cat Fish," and now we have a "Bushwhacking, poisonous, electric Fish with frighteningly large, sharp teeth." I'm reminded of the old adage, "Truth is more scary than fiction." Now on this video, I see him snap the fish in his mouth, swallow it down in one gulp, then belching out the scales. Hey, Steven King, are you paying attention here?
John - "seriously you know that we can see you right?"
Jack -"who are you talking to? There is no one there"
John - "wtf dude, he is right there, you cant see it? Lol, you are dumb"
Jack -" where?"
John -"omfg, see here, these eyes, thi......."
*Gets eaten*
Jack -" oh yeah, lol."
Very nicely done Pang, recently discovered your channel. You must spend a lot of time out there to get that superb footage, although I don't know whether the cheery music fits the torrid struggles depicted in your video. Would love to know the equipment you use, I'm sure I've swam past you under some pier. I struggle to find like minded buddies, would love to join you some time.
Thanks for the comment,Harry. I am sure we would have crossed paths under water. The nature of my work allows me the opportunity to get wet nearly everyday. However I seldom know in advance where and when i will be, making it hard to coordinate private dives.Saw some of your video posts... very nice!
*lol* @2:38 , when your fart smells so bad you gag
Campers
I mean I get it but that sounds really dumb
Never knew Stunfisk to be so aggressive.
Stunfisk is based on a completely diffrerent fish.
That fish ever bit my foot my scream would become the next legendary 'bloop'. lol
1:20 LOL, that's like from a cartoon or something. *Fish gets eaten, burps up scales*
that last one "please no"
3:49 them fishes were like
Fish : yooo what in the actual f*ck was that motherf*cker doing in the sand
Thank you for posting, a captivating video! I have never heard of these fish before.
VERY INTERESTING!! GREAT FOOTAGE!! ;-)
Besides of the music....
And then he's like "K, I'm done. Back to bed" after.
You have some incredible footage Pang! I couldn't believe it had a go at that large leatherjacket! I am still waiting to see a stargazer.
Why's the music so perfectly fitting?
Hey Pang, what is it with Stargazer videos that gets so many viewers? 500,000 +, congrats!!
Not sure Dave-maybe viewers like to see some action. Always imagined how scary the bay would be with 6 ' size Star gazers
Lol, fish at 2:55 was like "nope."
The shrimps be like : we can see you
**gets eaten anyway**
Why dislike this, it’s nature
that Trigger Fish was too hard to swallow though lol
the trigger is locked to prevent other fish from swallowing it, pretty good defense against predators that swallow whole.
How the hell do I always find myself on this side of youtube every couple of months? I mean seriously...xP And to think...I started the night off watching cute guinea pig videos! haha /facepalm
twitchster77 lol
2:31, Fish is like: The heck are you doing man?
"that's my seaweed!"
The cuttlefish said: You guys made me ink
This background music tho... !!
Stargazers are amazingly good to eat in New Jersey! The first two times that I speared one (free diving) the fish won the contest by quickly burying itself about 1.5 feet down in the sand. I had the problem of having to get my spear out and to keep breathing. It took me a couple of trips to the surface for air and back down again before I yanked my spear out and lost the fish. I had to take my speargun leash off of my wrist to be able to get to the surface. On one fish that I had caught and taken home to eat I managed to get poked by a spine on the top and found out about the venom. My hand and arm were numb and painful and I felt sick for a while but was fine the next day. None of my fish books mentioned that Stargazers had venom but they did mention the electric shock. So this fish offers up the most dramma of any fish that I have ever dealt with. The fights in the water, the poison and the shock. I got shocked the very first time I touched one on a jetty but never again after. It was like a capacitor discharge shock (I fix electronic equipment), not bad but it definitely gets your attention. But the taste of the Stargazer meat is exceptional. Maybe because they eat so many crabs and blue claw crabs are sweet and delicious. The trick to spearing them is to grab the spear with both hands immediately and start shaking it and pulling it up out of the sand. These fish will hit jigs bounced off of the bottom while fishing from the sides of New Jersey jetties. I have to vote this fish as my #1 New Jersey fish for taste. Sounds strange but only a few of us know how good it is to eat. The taste is the only thing that keeps me coming back for it again. Good luck and beware of the surprises if you try to catch them. Definitely avoid the sharp spines. Cut the spines off with snips right away.
yes I believe they are good to eat...think their also a commercial fish for sale in some fish markets
Easy to find at Rye jetty or Portsea- look around or near pylons. Look for their eyes or slight discolouration in the sand where they have buried.
Loved the title! What did you expect? Was the stargazed supposed to KILL the fish before eating it?
OK! may be it should have been Stargazer swallows fish alive.
I have a silly question. How animals that are swallowed alive, die? I mean what happens in the stomatch? They suffocate first?
I wonder about that, too. What a way to go. I hope they suffocate quickly, before the stomach acid hits.
I’m glad they put this background music, I wouldn’t watch this otherwise
Excellent capture...you too Pang.
I like how he is coughing up the scales :D
3:46 Looked like a real life seen from the movie Nemo. "OMG, Fred, Fred, where are you? He was just here a minute ago, and and now he's gone. Must of been Sandy, the sand monster."
Stingrays swimming freely n living their best life
Also stingrays: don't look at me he like fish I'm a ray that's just too bad for y'all
I like how that one fish seen him bury himself and was like nope😆
1:37 Didn’t even care that fish had a horn!! 😲
And that single horn is the reason it survived lol
Lol at 5:23 the stargazer burps and it scares the shark ray swimming by
When it is swallowing the fish, it looks like a receipt printer in reverse.
just imagine these things being bigger than humans, and then swimming past one..
+Wayno Ryan or hiding beneath the waiting for you to swim by.
Welcome to the ocean, where all your soft vore fantasies are not only just possible but an everyday occurrence
minute 2:27 was too funny. that camouflage fish saw it and stopped in its tracks slowly turned around and went away
fish : lalalalalala
digger guy : chomp

When your playing hide and seek but your hiding behind a lamp......
Absolutely astounding footage well done sir
I'm enjoying this side of UA-cam too much, finding progressively weirder and weirder fish fuck each other up...
Great footage! Thank you for sharing!
Thank You
Who says you can't work comfortably at home and make a nice living? Well this fish does
I like the marbled stargazer fish . It looks like it would make a great friend !
That must be one of the most inventive evolutionary addaptations....just waiting till the food swims into your mouth....
He’s the ultimate call of duty camper
The most interesting video i've seen for a long time 👏 Thank you
Thanks for uploading!😇
The fish were singing, I know you were trouble when you walked in. 😂
speed 0.25 you're welcome
How does it feel to have a whole living octopus in the stomach? Could it exit out the rear end in a swift manner without being digested first?
*"Joe! Yeah i think i found whiscash!"*
Being a fish must fucking suck.
Wonderful video. Well worth watching.
Nothing burps like scales!
"You kids get off my lawn!"
How did you film that??? was that in an aquarium??? Now I know what that fish is named?? I've seen it at the market but didn't know what it was.
+Stanley Hutchinson all wild stuff
Good Job, Obviously you Scuba Dive, just curious what beach or ocean was that??? Thanks
+Stanley Hutchinson Southern portion of Portphillip bay Melbourne ,Australia.
Ahhh Melbourne. Very nice . Thanks
Caught stargazers often, know I know just how fast they are. Great footage
Loving the (Louisiana?) Jazz tune tho!
The way it spits out the remains and just leaves it in its jaw for a while never going in the sea those poor fish
"Stargazer eats fish alive?" Well of course it does. Don't be so shocked, it was too much trouble to fire up the barbecue.
Triggers be like... No you didn't!
how did you get a stunkfish?
Great video. Tactics and strategy totally applicable in business.
The awesome adaptation of the triggerfish, perfect example: 1:50
