১৭৮৩ সালে রংপুরের ঐঋতিহাসিক প্রজা বিদ্রোহ ইটাকুমারী রাজা শিব চন্দ্রের বাড়ী থেকে সংঘটিত হয়েছিল। কালের স্বাক্ষী রাজা শিব চন্দ্র এই জমিদার বাড়ির প্রতিষ্ঠাতা। ১৭৮৩ সালে বৃটিশ বিরোধী শীব চন্দ্র ও দেবী চৌধুরানী প্রজা বিদ্রোহের নেতৃত্ব দিয়ে দেবী সিংহের অত্যাচার থেকে রংপুরের কৃষক প্রজাদের রক্ষা করেছিলেন। ইটাকুমারী জমিদারবাড়ী ছিলো তৎকালীন অবিভক্ত বাংলার দ্বিতীয় নবদ্বীপ। শিক্ষা, সাংস্কৃতিক বাতিঘর হিসেবে ইটাকুমারীর খ্যাতি গোটা ভারতবর্ষে ছড়িয়ে পড়েছিল। এখানে রাজ শীব চন্দ্রের নামে স্বনামধন্য একটি কলেজ রয়েছে। এছাড়াও জমিদার বাড়ি, মন্দির, বিশালাকার পুকুর ও অন্যান্য প্রত্নতাত্বিক নিদর্শন রয়েছে।

Historical Itakumari Zamindar Bari
In 1783 the historical tenant revolt of Rangpur took place from the house of Itakumari king Shiva Chandra. Raja Shiva Chandra, the witness of the times, is the founder of this zamindar house. In 1783, anti-British Shiva Chandra and Devi Chowdhurani led a tenant revolt and protected the peasantry of Rangpur from the tyranny of Devi Singh. Itakumari Zamindarbari was the second new island of undivided Bengal at that time.Itakumari's reputation as a beacon of education and culture spread all over India. There is a famous college named after Raj Shiv Chandra. There are also zamindar houses, temples, giant ponds and other archeological monuments.
How to get there: Rickshaws, autorickshaws, private cars, microbuses can be used.
