Jeff the deer whisper'er Heh seriously .you bring out so many little things about the character and habits of the whitetail that a guy like me would never think of.thanks for another great vidio.another on my favorite list.
Could you possibly do a video on tiny parcels? I have a tiny parcel (under 20 acres) and I would love to see a video on what I can do to manage it the best I can. Thanks
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 A much appreciated toutorial and thank you for sharing.. At age 86 one ☝🏾 of my many hobbies is cooking. I totally agree with everything said. I noticed most if not all the tanks are level with the ground. Do you frown upon leaving it up a little bit so if the water level gets down the deer can still manage to get to it OK?
Is the tank at 4:50 smashed in or is it a fish pond? What tanks do you think will last the longest as far as plastic/rubber in your experience with different ones, rubbermaid 100, or Tuff stuff 110 gallon Tractor Supply ones for less money? I bought three of the Tractor Supply 110 gallon tanks and dug them in a few weeks ago.
Hi Jeff, I had a question about killing water hemp growing in a clover plot, what can I use to kill water hemp growing in my clover plot since water hemp is very hard to kill?
Jeff, is a waterhole worth any time if your property borders a river? I feel the river defines movement up and down along the wooded/cover corridor. Might be wrong. let me know!
So Jeff, with the current draught do you wait to plant your buckwheat, or is there a disadvantage to broadcasting it and simply waiting for rain? thanks, Bob
Jeff, I was advised that I should move my 110 gallon stock tank to being on top of the ground, instead of being in the ground. He said Fawns can fall in the tank and drown. Have you ever had a fawn die in any of your waterholes?
Jeff i got a quick question does Virginia have high hunting pressure And I rent some land behind my house and a hunt club does to and they will run dogs through my food plot over bait when thats illegal here and let me do all the work and do nothing what should I do
Good stuff Jeff! First year doing your ultimate no till method and the buckwheat has germinated and is about an inch tall. You ever run into a drought like we are currently experiencing in SW WI with doing this method? Has me pretty nervous weeds will take over.
Hi TJ! The BW is fairly drought resistant but I am worried about the same thing where I am at. I actually waited to plant BW until I see more appreciable rain in the forecast...hoping that helps!! Hope we all get some more rain soon!
Always great content from you Jeff! Anything coming down the line from you regarding management issues while experiencing severe drought? Thank you. Love this channel!
Hi Gary, thank you very much! I should create a video about that. Really tho, for what I do drought doesn't matter too much. I plant most of my plots during the late Summer when rain is on the increase and even if I can't plant buckwheat, I still can plant my no till plantings for the Fall. So drought doesn't hurt me that bad. I have a lot of buckwheat sitting in the pole building at home right now...
Hi Boomer! You should check out my waterhole playlist ...LOTS of info, including if you should have one or not and the signs to look for. Just depends in how dry the bedding areas are, and the routes to your afternoon food sources
Hi Jeff...I have a creek running through my property and all hunting stands are pretty much within a shot of the creek. Do you see any advantage of a waterhole when they will be within 40-50 yards of a creek???
Let’s say you have 80 acres, you have a creek that runs in the middle of the property, another creek on one side of the property and on the other side there an underground spring, so in all there’s 3, most all of it is hard wood regeneration that’s 10-11 years old. But it’s hard to get near the under ground spring due to the bedding area is in the same thicket as the underground spring, 200 yards behind it is a neighborhood, one side is open hard woods “neighbor” should I clear it around the spring or leave it alone and wait for them to come out of it to a mock scrap vine, I no it’s kinda a impossible question bc you don’t no the lay out of the land but I was jw if you might of had or seen an similar scenario thanks -Alabama
I've got 2 small run offs that come together in my food plot. always has water flowing . Not sure it makes sense to put a tub in. I planned 100#/acre buckwheat 5-29-21... pretty sure I did a fantastic job of feeding the local bird population. 😕
I buried 3 water holes 2 weeks ago. A bear found and half ripped out the 1 already. 😢 What would you do in this situation? (It’s a great spot, recommended by Dylan)
So animals can climb out he covers everything my suggestion is watch all of videos then rewatch them a few times so much info and thought put into it everyone one he puts out
Is it ok that these water holes do not have moving water and are stagnant water? I’d like to put in 4 different spots but concerned about stagnant water
Have you or anyone else used a tote or 55 gallon drum full of water to feed the waterhole and keep it full on dry falls like this one? (Ie w same technology as a gerbil water or or dog bowl water) I’d love to do that as an insurance policy. I try to put them on slopes so the fill themselves, but Mother Nature doesn’t oblige at times!
Hey Jeff, how close should you put a mock scrape to a waterhole? In line with your stand location or a complete different direction vs the water hole? All in bow range.
Come on man, where's your spear? Your bow and arrow? Your stealth, tip toeing through the woods, with your eagle eyes and ears, looking and listening for your next big kill... Meh.. The watering hole, entrapment, trick works too tho, I guess... I see this video and think... "What a pussy..."

Best Whitetail deer content for information on plots and deer hunting strategies. thanks Jess Sturgis

Thanks Jeff👍 Have a great day all!
You are very welcome Mike...you have a great day too!!
Right on Jeff another great video my terrain on my property would be to hard to set up this set up. Looking forward to to do mock scrap
Thanks a lot Ralph, good luck with the move scrape they are a LOT of fun 👍
Thanks for all your knowledge! Much appreciated!

Do you clean out your watering hole tubs, or do you leave the leaves in them that fall inside during the fall?

Hi Kohen! Check out my waterhole vids...TONS of info. I like those 110 gallon tanks a lot. But more info than I could write here 😊
Hi Jeff, I had a question about killing water hemp growing in a clover plot, what can I use to kill water hemp growing in my clover plot since water hemp is very hard to kill?
Great video Jeff, it helped answer a question I had.
I'm gonna watch all your waterhole videos. I believe a waterhole would work great in my spot
Jeff, how do you (if you do) account for mosquitoes and algae growth in your water holes?
Where can I buy a water hole container that you use? Where is there a link to it?
Hi Thomas! We currently just use the Rubbermaid 300 gallon. They are 63"x 69" and you can get them at most TSCs or fleet farm type places.
Jeff, is a waterhole worth any time if your property borders a river? I feel the river defines movement up and down along the wooded/cover corridor. Might be wrong. let me know!
If a property already has a water source creek/pond is it worth adding watering holes?
Yes, if the deer are bedding dry and have dry movements
So Jeff, with the current draught do you wait to plant your buckwheat, or is there a disadvantage to broadcasting it and simply waiting for rain?
thanks, Bob
Hi Bob, I hope that all is going great! I am personally waiting until after the Father's Day charity event...or at least until Sat 6/19.
Okay thanks....I have mine on the ground, just praying for rain!!!!!
My woods gets hardly any sunlight..whats the best thing I can plant? Thank you

Ur the champion, I see so many other channels and shows using ur knowledge lol
1# best channel out there !
Thank you...really means a lot to me Braden!!
How do you manage a shallow bank county ditch on your property or the 20 acres lake? That’s one of my main problems runs through all 150 acres…

@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 Thanks again. That reply says a lot!
If there's a creek on the property with running water would a waterhole be a good thing to add or would it be kind of pointless?
Hi Boomer! You should check out my waterhole playlist ...LOTS of info, including if you should have one or not and the signs to look for. Just depends in how dry the bedding areas are, and the routes to your afternoon food sources
Thank you for replying so quickly! I'll go thru them!
Do you put goldfish in your water holes so the deer have something to look at?
Ha, no they will rot and stink it up 😊

Hi Emanuel where you have bears and waterhole problems I would cover them up with plywood and rocks until later in the summer...
Sorry if you’ve covered it before but what’s with the stick/log half in half out of the water hole?
So animals can climb out he covers everything my suggestion is watch all of videos then rewatch them a few times so much info and thought put into it everyone one he puts out

Yes it's fine I got three out now going to put out a fourth

Hi Adam! Within 10-15', within the same camera angle. Both in bow range. The scrape on the intended deer trail, the waterhole not on the deer trail
Thanks
Sounds good
Thanks Steve!
I didn’t see this video I hope I didn’t just mess mine up setting it up
